Ill give you context on that in a moment, but let me be clear, off the top, do not in any way ingest any sort of household cleaner or disinfectant. Lets hear from but not listen to the president. I see the disinfectant, it knocks it out in a minute, one minute. And is there a way we can do Something Like that by injection inside or or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and does a tremendous number in the lungs so it would be tremendous to check that. So for that you would need to use medical doctors. But it sounds interesting to me. Reporter lysol issued a statement this morning. Under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body through injection, ingestion or any other route. Just a short time ago the president told reporters who are so i understa assigned to the white house that he was being sarcastic in that statement. While anyone would be sarcastic while holding a press conference about a deadly pandemic is not clear this morning. But we cant know the state of the president s name, but i can give you the context around what happened. The president s comments came after a deputy secretary from Homeland Security showed a chart showing that sunlight and disinfectant were killing the virus outside the body. They were effective. It was meant as a brief reassurance that as we do get back outside moms and dads dont need to be overly worried about, say, playground equipment thats been sitting in the sun, probably safe. That led the president to wonder out loud if ultraviolet light, if we could somehow get it into the body, it could kill the virus inside or disinfect it. The president is a very hopeful person and we often, marcus, as weve talked about in the past, he thinks out loud, kind of spitballs from up there on the podium, something weve never seen any other president do, so that may be what happened. Again, to be perfectly clear, do not ingest any sort of disinfectant into your body at any time in any way. Great advice, scott, thank you. President trump signs that 484 billion coronavirus stimulus bill. The measure sends aid to Small Businesses and hospitals as well as providing funding for more testing. 20 billion will go to refill the Paycheck Payment Program which quickly ran out of money because of heavy demand. It will provide forgivable loans to Small Businesses that keep their employees on the payroll. And the markets are reacting in a positive way to that news. Right now you can see the dow is up 134 points. A lot of cities across the bay area have ordered mandatory face coverings in public places. In Santa Clara County it has only been strongly recommended. But not in milpitas. Nbc bay areas Damian Trujillo is at a milpitas strip mall where a mandatory order just went into affect. Damian . Reporter yes, you have to wear a mask herepitasmilpitas. 95 of people coming into this Safeway Shopping Center are actually wearing those face guards and in fact for some time now, safeway was giving them for free over at the front entrance. The new ordere coverings are mandatory for employees and customers at essential businesses like grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations. The city says its partnering with Key Stakeholders to provide free face coverings to its Community Members but the owners of essential businesses have to provide those face coverings to its employees. Milpitas has declared a local emergency within the city limits. At lastoronavirus in milpitas. And the only way were going to get control of this disease is if we take this serious. A lot of people are still not taking this serious, and we need to puckel down and say, you know what, we need to get people back to work so that way they wont be suffering economically, theyre facing economic hardship. Reporter milpitas is under a local Health Emergency, just like the county. This facial covering order will remain in effect until the end of the Health Emergency declared by Santa Clara County and by the state of california. More than 480,000 tests have been completed in california. At the beginning of the month there were more than 50,000 pending cases. Governor newsoms goal is to do 60,000 daily tests. So far Health Officials are not releasing how many tests are being administered every day. And a new push in San Francisco this morning to test everyone in living facilities. According to the examiner, the city has the capacity to carry out 4,300 tests a day. The goal now is to conduct 3,500 tests per day. This is because of improvements in supply issues. Happening today, the mobile testing unit roving around the bay area is in fremont for two days. Its stationed at the hub all day, and thats a Shopping Center on monterey avenue. Youll have to make an appointment first. Those results are available the same day. This morning i spoke with the chief medical officer and cofounder of Carbon Health who says the test is free. So the out of pocket cost for patients is free. Thats for both insured and uninsured patients. Its a great way to get muchneeded testing out into the communities without putting a burden on our patients. The mobile unit will be in San Francisco on sunday and in novato next week. As we all know, the bay area has a special place in our hearts for pets. Happening right now, both people and pets in need can get help. Some call it disruptive and unbearable this morning, caltrans will continue putting the pedal on the metal for the major project at the interchange in San Francisco. You can see all the workers behind me with the heavy earlier we saw sparks flying, dust flying. Now youre seeing concrete being moved around. The heavy pounding started at 5 00 a. M. This morning. This project was supposed to start this summer in order to avoid heavy commute traffic but now since traffic is so light due to shelter in place, caltrans says it will work on this project round the clock and complete it in the next ten days. This stretch of highway 101 at a alemany is deteriorating. Despite some confusion over detours and noise this morning, caltrans says this will help avoid what many people feared would be armageddon if the project were done during heavy traffic. So far the project has gone smoothly and thats good news. Were asking motorists to follow all the detour signs. Reporter chp will detour northbound traffic onto 280 while southbound traffic will stay on 101 and alternate, using the side not being rebuilt at the time. Caltrans wants drivers to slow down to 35 Miles Per Hour in the see all of thisst asked cal trans i would stop overnight. And the only thing caltrans would say is that the goal is not to use heavy equipment overnight, only during the day, but right now there are no guarantees.
