Now, there are lots of new parking restrictions near open space areas, but over in oakland there are suddenly a whole lot more places for walkers, joggers and bikers, thats because the city is shutting down streets. Nbc bay areas Christie Smith joins us live with how its going. Christie . Reporter terry, first let me say that neighbors and of course essential services can still get through, but the idea, like here on 42nd street, is to give people more room in their neighborhoods as they try social distancing as they exercise. I tell you today we saw people using it. 42nd street is empty today at broadway and oakland, just a few neighbors cars and people riding bikes and others running in the street. Tom dudley says more space was needed to keep that six foot social distance out on his walks. I think its working really well because when a lot of people get out walking, some of us have to move into the street, so this makes it a lot safer. Reporter since the stayathome order to slow the spread of covid19, popular exercise spots like lake merritt have seen a surge of people. I know that we have written quite a few on the coast today, i dont have an exact number, but i know that deputies are out issuing citations. Reporter Christie Smith, nbc bay area news. This shelter at home order is no joke. Listen to this, the Santa Cruz Police chief posted this tweet along with a picture of people who got fined for driving, they went from fremont over to the coast. Not supposed to be there. Rob is at home, he does not have time to go looking for easter eggs right now, he is too busy giving us that forecast. On the coast today over in the left side of the bay area it was foggy and not conducive to people getting out and going to the beach. You know, thats true. We did have some drizzle, we had some cloudy skies helping to keep our temperatures down and thats really the big story if you are around San Francisco or the north bay, temperatures in the 50s and as you take a look outside, San Francisco still dealing with the clouds and a few drops there on the lens as you notice weve got numbers in the mid 50s near San Francisco, but in san jose where we did break out to a little more sunshine early in the day youve got numbers in the 60s. Farther south around morgan hill today that was the one spot that did manage to get close to 70 degrees. I do think we will have a better chance at warmer temperatures to wrap up your easter sunday. If you have sniffles and sneezes outside, this is peak allergy season made more complicated obviously by our covid19 stayathome orders, youre not supposed to be touching your face as well. So here is the deal, youre probably noticing those scratchy eyes and the runny nose of late as the pollen count numbers have come up for grass, pollen into the moderate range and for oak trees that pollen still running relatively high. The rain we had earlier in the week that kind of helped things, but now things are drying out, you might notice your allergies are starting to get a little bit worse once again. The satellite is very interesting, notice how the north bay still got a lot of cloud cover, to the south San Francisco, heading into san jose thats where the clearing s down into the south bay closer to morgan hill. I do think areas south of san jose tomorrow will see more sun and likely a chance of seeing mid 70s as we wrap up the weekend. So for the morning we will see a little bit of drizzle at times as the low clouds come back in across the bay, tell start off with mostly temperatures in the 40s and highs tomorrow upper 60 to 70 degree temperatures, closer to san jose about 70 degrees and 73 around morgan hill. Hour by hour we start off with cloud cover for tomorrow morning. Low clouds inland, its not going to last as long as what we saw out there today, you will notice as the skies start to clear one item to watch will be the hilltops, may see some showers on the higher ridges near mt. Hamilton or up on the top of the north bay hilltops, tomorrow evening things start to wind down. Rain projections enough to measure in terms of the drizzle near the coast. Notice how High Pressure starts to build in, that should carry us for most of the week. Next weekend were expecting that ridge to weaken just enough to perhaps give us a chance of seeing a little bit of rain as we head towards next weekend. In the meantime San Francisco starting to warm on up, temperatures starting to climb into the mid 70s inland locations, San Francisco, maybe closer to 70 degrees there on wednesday. And across the board warming up. Low to mid 70s as we head towards the middle part of the week and, again, next chance of rain possibly showing up for next weekend. Virtual Easter Egg Hunt, that sounds perfect for the drizzle we will see in a few spots for tomorrow morning. I have to check out that online one. I will get kris and johnny working on that one in danville, the virtual Easter Egg Hunt. They will win that virtual prize. They may have already done it. Rob, thanks a lot.
