Congress had a big task passing 2 trillion to help a lot of businesses and americans putting cash into a lot of americans hands. What were hearing from a lot of people here in the bay area, you know its expensive to live here, 1,200, is that enough especially for families who are still without work, possibly a month or even longer . No, thats certainly not enough. Theres going to have to be more rounds of aid coming and, frankly, california pays the price not just on a relief package like this but in taxes, in the federal workforce when it comes to firsttime home buyers and loans they qualify for. It doesnt take into account the high cost of living. There are packages in place including Disaster Relief for small businesses. Wage subsidies to play employees any wages lost. The average worker should get 100 through the unemployment insurance. Thats still not enough but its a start to get us through these trying times. Are there plans to ensure those businesses pay the workers . Yes. Fraud or misuse of disaster funds is also a felony. Its own category of crime, but there will be an Inspector General for the 500 billion the administration will be responsible for disseminating and a Congressional Panel to approve those funds to make sure theyre not misused. Anyone with a pension were trying to provide pension relief and infrastructure dollars that we see opportunities to connect americans through broad band and many of our rail needs in the bay area. Into stockton its a top priority. Well seek dollars for that as well. Putting people to work. Absolutely. And before you go i want to talk about the masks. Youve talked about how people can help with masks and how to get the masks into the hands of people who need them, those on the frontline. Especially our contractors who were toiling away at construction sites and seeing their sites closed down, if you have n95 masks please bring them to my office. We are distributing them to the local hospitals. Thank you for joining us. My pleasure. Thanks. So were three weeks into the shelter in place order and we have several more weeks towing. Kris, talk a little bit about how well we think people are following the guidelines so far. Reporter its hard to tell when were looking at the same four walls of our home but it turns out people are starting to get the message and the importance of it. Solano the worst in distance traveled but thats a grade of b. Overall in california urban counties are faring better at staying put. Rural are seeing a little bit more movement which makes sense because they have to drive farther to get their essentials to stock up on groceries and what not. The issue with the Rural Counties is they have smaller hospitals that might be less able to handle a big influx. If youre thinking of sheltering in place somewhere else, stay put. Kris sanchez, today in the bay. And right now at 6 41 lets get a look at our forecast as we start out with some clouds moving by. Also watching that pollen count. I know people are opening up the windows looking for those opportunities to get outside. If you suffer from allergies like me its a high amount of tree pollen affecting you right now. Ill be talking about the warmer weather coming up. Mike has a look at the morning commute. Kari, a light traffic flow overall but an issue for hayward as we look at the map before the 92 interchange. You will find slowing from winton. A big rig spilled 70 gallons of diesel fuel and some went into storm drains. Wove to wait for fish and give to make sure everything is safe for the cleanup.
