To manage the ability to launch and land flights, the airports major carriers have been trying to steer passengers on other hubs and have been paring down domestic flights to sfo, but passengers are still feeling the pinch. Dozens of flights have been cancelled and even more are delayed. I saw that my flight got cancelled and i had nothing to do. I live in oregon and the closest airport to me is eugene, oregon. It was cancel. I had to travel two hours north of where i live and then that flight was delayed and i just landed and now im hoping my next flight will make it to chicago. Reporter now, united, Alaska Airlines and air canada have been waving flight change fees so passengers can rebook to avoid sfo and theyve been stocking gates and planes with extra snacks to help ease tensions as delays stack up. According to sfo they picked this stretch of 20 days because it comes at the end of the busy Summer Travel season and before the busy Holiday Travel season. But still it is going to mean at least 20 days of delays like this and also cancellations. So passengers should be aware if theyre passing through sfo. New details tonight in the case of the bay area teenagers accused of killing an Italian Police officer. In july Police Arrested finn elder and Gabriel Natale in rome. Prosecutors say elder is the one who stabbed and killed the officer. Elders lawyer is dropping the request for his release. He says the defense needs time to figure out exactly what happened that night. A hearing for the release is set for later this month. They are having a bit of a break in the action, giving the bands a little time to rest. Theyre having an auction right now, but all of this is a volunteer effort for what is a really good cause, of course. Now, this is essentially one long concert featuring local bands, and they are performing for nine hours from noon until the early evening. There are also auctions to raise money, theres a raffle, food and drinks and a fun area with bouncy houses for the kids. The organizers are with the group gilroy stronger. They are raising money to meet the needs of the victims families, those injured and those still struggling with the trauma from it all. Rent, medical bills, anything that they need to get them through this time. It is hard for everybody, and whatever we can give were going to give. Reporter now, whatever money this group raises they turn over to the gilroy foundation. So far before today they told me theyve raised 52,000. Now, we dont have a tally yet on what theyre raising so far, what theyve raised so far today, but theyre very optimistic about getting a good sum together. People could get 100 for handguns, shotguns and rifles, and guns that meet the california definition of assault rifles were worth 400. The Gun Buyback Program is anonymous. That means people can turn in their guns, no questions asked. Just in to our newsroom now, a fastgrowing brush fire in butte county is prompting evacuation orders. The fire has burned at least 300 acres. Images show strong flames and heavy smoke. The fire is burning near oraville. It started about two hours ago. People in the area are told to leave as fire crews work to contain the flames. Firefighters are trying to get a wildfire under control up in lake county. You see the smoke filling the air from these pictures, a lot of it. Cal fire says the oak fire burning near highway 29 and cole creek road, that is just south of kelseyville, that fire has burned 20 acres. Cal fire says some structures are threatened. Well, the search is on for a bank robber in mill valley. Take a look at this. Police say this man robbed a wells fargo bank. It happened at 10 00 this morning on miller avenue. Investigators say the man is described as asian, about 55, 130 pounds and used a red Mountain Bike to make his getaway. Early friday morning coast guard went into action near canyon creek in the trinity alps winderness area northwest of redding. Amazing video. Firefighters say two crew members were hit by Falling Rocks while trying to put out the middle fire. The coast guard saved the injured firefighters with the fire only ten yards away. That was close. Firefighters are now recovering in the hospital. They have serious head, back and leg injuries. Hurricane dorian continues to wreak havoc along the coast. It is day 11 of this storm, and this time dorian is doing a lot of damage along the outer banks of North Carolina. This is some video of that right there. One task force is out of menlo park and the other is out of Alameda County. They both have been working to get people to safety in North Carolina in the aftermath of hurricane dorian.
