The mountain fire started yesterday morning north of reddick. Last check, it was 40 contained with about 600 acres already burned. The fire did destroy one structure and it is still threatening hundreds of homes. We met one family who lost their home to a fire a decade ago in san ramon and they briefly felt themselves reliving the same nightmare in shasta county. I was upset at the beginning but im calmer now, knowing that my house is still standing. Late lat northeast authorities let evacuees in some are areas return to their homes, but the situation is said to be very fluid and in some areas the power is still out. Former Homeless People now have a stable home in the south bay, and today was the grand opening for the first Affordable Housing project for the former homeless in san jose. It is called Second Street studios. There are more than 100 studios and one bedroom apartments that can house more than 150 people. Today people shared their stories of how this housing helped change their lives. San jose mayor and city leaders say it is the First PermanentSupportive Housing that provides a safe place for people to live. Reporter captured on body camera, blurred by police, the 37yearold mother was with her sister and 6yearold daughter when she realized the baby was strapped into her car seat as the temperature soared to 102 degrees in june. We left the baby in the car. Reporter as paramedics rushed the baby to the hospital, officers were shocked the child was in stable condition. I cant believe the kid survived that long. Reporter the baby, they say, was left inside the sweltering car for 50 minutes. A long time. Reporter charged with one count of child abuse and one count of child endangerment, holly has pleaded not guilty, saying this to police during her interrogation. This went down before 11 00 last night on moore park avenue. Witnesses say the truck crashed into half a dozen cars parked along the street as you see there. Some are extensive damage. Witnesses say the driver took off running. The guy ended up getting out of the truck that flipped and took off running. How, i dont know, because it looked like a pretty bad accident. That witness says he saw at least one person being taken to the hospital. We are working to find out the extent of those injuries. Hawaiian airlines is not saying what caused this cabin to fill with smoke. It was a flight headed from oakland to hawaii. Video coming into our newsroom overnight. When the plane touched down in honolulu, passengers had to evacuate the emergency chutes. Many say they were terrified but knew they had to stay calm. We were on the final approach coming in and all of a sudden the cabin filled up with smoke. We all kind of went like this to breathe. So calm. There were 184 people on board the flight at the time.
