Got an update from investigators. Whats the very latest out there . Reporter i just spoke with chp and they have now confirmed they are investigating this as a possible hit and run. Four people dead, six injured, including one child. If you look behind me here, you can see traffic is still bumper to bumper, sluggish on eastbound i80 through san pablo. All westbound lanes of i80 through san pablo have been shut down at San Pablo Dam road. Now, chp tell me this started just after 8 00 p. M. Theyre still trying to investigate the cause of this accident but they say one of the cars, a white suv, flipped and overturned. That was the car that may have been hit by the hitandrun driver. Now, the driver of the white suv was transported to the hospital, but his four passengers all were pronounced dead at the scene. We dont know the identity of the driver or the passengers. Five other people were also injured in this accident, including a child. Again, we dont know the extent of their injuries. We do know that they were frarpted to local hospitals. Now, chp says there were a total of five cars involved in this crash, including that possible hitandrun vehicle. They dont know when the freeway will reopen. Were calling out a multidisciplinary action investigation team. So were going to have this freeway closed down for some time while we pretty much collect all the evidence and map everything out. Reporter now, chp crews will be out here. Theyre here with contra costa fire and police from surrounding cities. They say its very early in this investigation, they dont know what may have caused the accident. They dont know, for example, if alcohol was involved. But they are asking anyone who may have seen the accident to call chp with whatever information they have. And right now again they dont have an eta as to when the freeway will open. South winds, mild temperatures with some tropical moisture coming on in. San francisco not too far behind. 68 degrees. Very interesting. Our temperatures here at 11 00 will be warmer than the high temperatures we see tomorrow as the rain makes a comeback. Right now the radar not showing much. Everything still offshore. Again the main event with this first rundown of rain coming in just before sunrise for tomorrow morning. You can see all the moist yoor out here stretching out across the pacific. Here are the little waves of heavy rain at times that will come through for the end of the weekend. So in addition to the rain, well be watching wind speeds picking up tomorrow morning 15 to 30 miles per hour. Riders tonight. There have been a wave of thefts and attacks in the past 24 hours. Police say there were several cell phone thefts reported yesterday. The incidents happened at stations in oakland, san francisco, and union city. One victim was knocked to the ground. You might remember back in april a mob of about 50 teenagers streamed onto a train at the coliseum station, robbing multiple riders. Bart launched a Public Awareness campaign in response to that, asking people to be more aware of their surroundings. Following up now on that shark attack off the monterey coast, a spear fisherman attacked by a massive great white shark is recovering from surgery. Tonight were hearing from the only eyewitness to that attack, the mans father. Abc bay areas tom jensen live at pebble beach, the scene of the attack. Tom . Reporter terry, imagine that. A 15footlong great white shark thrashing at your thigh. Miraculously, that fisherman was able to scramble back to the boat, and his father in the hospital tonight. His father the only other eyewitness, as you said, tells his story. A Monterey County sheriffs helicopter hovers above the waters minutes after at tack friday afternoon. Horrifying. Reporter the victims father telling us it was a 15foot great white attacking his son, its teeth ripping apart his son, grigor azarrians right thigh. At that moment it was just shock for me. Just horrifying scene. My thought was to just try to help him to stop the bleeding. Reporter when gregors dad finally got him to shore, two sheriffs deputies were there to help stop the bleeding and get his son airlifted to a salinas hospital. His dad hopeful he will be able to continue his active lifestyle and thankful the sharks teeth didnt do more damage. The doctor, i talked to the surgeon, big nerves are not damaged. Thats what police are saying about thursday nights creecar crash at the intersection of lawrence expressway and monroe avenue in sapta clara. An 89yearold woman riding in one of the cars was killed. Police announced today the 21yearold driver of one of the other vehicles was driving under the influence and that man has been arrested and now faces manslaughter charges. New tonight, a report of a suspicious driver triggered a highspeed chase in morgan hill. It all started with a report of a suspicious white truck on eastbound 101. Officers arrived this morning and the suspect drove off, leading police on a chase on 101 out of morgan hill onto 680 in san jose. Police were finally able to catch the suspect just off hoff steder road. Thats the scene youre looking at in the video pape man and a woman were arrested and police say the truck they were driving was stolen. Drugs, gun, and cash. A troubling discovery by officers after a traffic stop in sonoma county. Santa rosa police sent us these photos. Theyre talking about 20 grams of cocaine, 3500 bucks in cash, a. 40caliber handgun, all found in a car pulled over just after midnight near glenn street and college avenue. Police arrested the 21yearold driver. Two teenagers in the car with him. The fight centers around the Consumer Financial protection bureau. Well, today the white house said the Justice Department has signed off on the president s pick to heat bureau. That would be mick mulvaney. Thats not the end of it, though. The outgoing head appointed the agencys chief of staff to take over. Well, now both sides are digging in for what could be a Lengthy Court battle. The agency was created to protect consumers against the illegal activity of big banks that contributed to the 2008 financial crisis. New at 11 00, the man arrested after police found something sinister in the trunk of his car. A human skull. Yeah. Officers say the man ran a stop sign on thanksgiving day in angels camp about 50 miles east of stockton. His name, joshua davis. After pulling him over, officers found a skull that appeared to have been recently dug up. It was taken to the Coroners Office in Calaveras County to be identified. Davis apparently refused to tell officers exactly how he got that skull. Methamphetamine also found inside that car. A mans life changed dramatically this week. And then children got to ride on a fire engine. Good deal for the kids. Organizers say the fundraiser is growing in popularity every year. And again, were going to see the winds start to pick up at 20 miles per hour, closer to sfo, and by tomorrow morning as the winds start to pick up out ahead of our weather system youll see bay areawide things turning breezy as you wake up tomorrow morning with rain in the north bay around sunrise moving south as you get into the afternoon. Temperatures tomorrow not 80s but back to the 60s. In fact, trending cooler than the temperatures were seeing outside right now. 65 degrees in san jose. Upper 60s possible still south of downtown san jose. For the trivalley highs tomorrow, mid up toer 60s. Low 60s from conk order back over toward oakland with some rain at times to start the day. Mid 60s from the peninsula. Up toward san francisco. And for the north bay where the rain will get started first well see temperatures tomorrow mostly in the low 60s. Sought hour byhour timeline with the storm, 6 00 a. M. Before sunrise. Mostly north of san francisco. 9 00 a. M. To lunchtime passing lu t through the central bay through san jose. Then by the afternoon scattered showers at times, and then the rain may decrease somewhat after sundown on sunday. But watch what happens here right around this time tomorrow night. Another batch of some moderate, briefly heavy rain passes through that will carry through almost to early monday morning. But right now monday mornings commute should see some clearing skies as the system starts to move on out. So rainfall totals during the day sunday highest in the hills here. The areas in orange about an inch of rain. But about a half inch for parts of the north bay. But check out san jose. Less than a quarter inch of rain. The classic Santa Clara Valley rain shadow effect on the santa cruz mountains. Then as more rain comes in monday morning i see those totals starting to ratchet up. About a half inch to 3 4 of an inch of rain in the north bay and some of the higher amounts well see being around the east bay hills. We talked about wind and rain here, but check out the sierra. Gusts close to 50 miles per hour. Well have to watch out for that in addition to some heavy snow at times. Then the forecast for the middle part of the week, once we get past tomorrow and monday does look dryer. So cooling temperatures here as we go through the week tomorrow. Obviously the day well be tracking some wind and rain at times for the morning. Another round coming in tomorrow night. Into very early monday. Then once we get past the storm things look relatively dry. Next chance of showers after this storm wont be until saturday, but not as much as were going to be seeing tomorrow.
