But notice that cooler air right near oakland and alameda. Temperatures in the low 70s. Thats the sea breeze thats beginning to move in. That sea breeze is also cooling us off, right now across portions of the south bay to 88 in downtown san jose and also 90 in campbell. We are tracking that incoming fog right now throughout San Francisco, and well also talk about the possibility of thunderstorms in our forecast and well have details on that coming up in about ten minutes. Drivers have to follow traffic rules, but what about bicyclists. Tonight the bikers are uniting by slowing down car traffic in the city. Nbc bay areas Mark Matthews is in San Francisco. Mark, whats the real story here . Reporter well, were on the route known as the wiggle an extremely flat and therefore bikefriendly route between Golden Gate Park and Market Street and its here where bicyclists plan to meet and protest Police Enforcement of traffic laws by obeying those laws to the letter. Cyclists say they have been targeted by police in parts of San Francisco. Here on page street riders routinely use the opposite lane to bypass long lines of cars waiting to turn right on to octavia. And police from the park station have been targeting this intersection citing riders who do not wait in line. If thats their attitude then its out of line with city policy because city policy is to make it as convenient and comfortable as possible and practical to use a bike. And that just wouldnt be practical. Reporter Jason Henderson is the author of street fight, a book on San Franciscos transportation struggles and argues that cycleists should not be required to obey the same traffic rules as cars. Stop signs should be considered as yield signs that bikes can roll through. It is something that is legal in idaho. I like the idaho stop. I do the idaho stop when i ride my bike. Reporter the board of directors is advocating for a change but the police tell me the law is the law and they have been responding to complaints about bicycle riders. On page street stan tells me bikes passing on the left are a danger. What happened is if they go by on the side or left i may not be able to see it. If they hit, it may be dangerous. Reporter at 5 30 this evening, bike activists are calling for cyclelists to meet here on the wiggle and make a point of stopping at every single stop sign. Yes, they expect it will snarl traffic. They hope that will make the point that allowing cyclists to drive through stop signs is actually better for everyone on their commute. Reporting from San Francisco, Mark Matthews nbc bay area news. Well see how it goes tonight. Thank you, mark. Hot weather not much water. An emergency co sponsored bill excuse me an emergency bill co sponsored by senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer aims to help communities suffering the most from our drought. The legislation would set aside more than 1 billion for some drought relief projects. Some of the key provisions include federal support for more than 25 desalination projects across the state, increasing the reservoir capacities or simply building new ones. Funding more water recycling projects and grants for companies to come up with Innovative Solutions involving water meters and capturing storm water. All those seem very helpful. Yeah. Lets get a check of our forecast now. It was a scorcher out there today, jeff. It definitely was. We had temperatures well over the century mark here for portions of the east bay, just in case you missed it. One of our hottest, brentwood, at 107 degrees. Pleasanton 105. Morgan hill 101. And south san jose also at 99. Lets take you outside of the Sky Camera Network now and you can already see temperatures beginning to drop off. But its warm and above average in the south bay. Right now 93 degrees, winds out of the north dropping temperatures in the peninsula at 84. Hot in the east bay at 101 degrees. But not nearly as warm in San Francisco with 68 right now, and thats all due to that westerly on shore wind coming back to sf importing that fog. You can bet theres a lot of tourists in San Francisco now heading to those shops to get some hoodies, because as the fog rolls in, chilly for tonight. Tomorrow morning more comfortable as well with the fog at the immediate coastline, will help temperatures to drop down to 65 in the south bay. 67 for the peninsula and 62 in San Francisco. Lets take you to the microclimate forecast. I think the biggest difference here for thursday is the fact that temperatures will cool 5 to 10 degrees. Also increase cloud cover by the afternoon. So a lot more comfortable for you, even right down to san jose with a high of 91. Peninsula peninsula, 69 in pacifica. Palo alto with 86 degrees. And San Francisco mainly upper 60s to also low 70s. Lets get you to the north bay. East bay and also for the tri valley. And i know youre going to like what we have coming our way for tomorrow. No low 100s expected. Napa coming in with 93 degrees for a high. Oakland to 75. And in the tri valley again, out of the 100s, and down to 95 degrees tomorrow for danville. So heres the deal on the weather. We have an area of High Pressure thats continuing over tonight. By tomorrows forecast were going to see this fade. Its going to move off towards the east thats going to make room for this area of low pressure to build offshore. We do still think that area of low pressure will mainly pull up humidity across the bay area with a slight chance of some showers. We think a lot of this shower activity youll be able to see in the futurecast will remain off to the south. Lets go ahead and take a look at fridays forecast. Again, thats when its going to dramatically change for us. Cooler temperatures, increased humidity, and that chance of showers. Theres all the activity bubbling up well south. We may see a small branch of this break off through the day on friday. And thats what could change our weather and bring us maybe a few drops. Overall, again, i think its mainly going to be a humid story for us. As we head throughout saturday and sunday looks great. 84 in the south bay on saturday. 83 on sunday. And you can see in San Francisco, upper 60s to low 70s. Tri valley 91 on saturday and we are looking at 90 on sunday.
