The Knox Community Health Center is celebrating 10 years as a federally qualified health center. The celebration will include a health fair on the front lawn of the health care center tomorrow afternoon from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. As part of the activities, representatives from the health center will be handing out free COVID-19 self-testing kits, N95 masks, and offering COVID-19 vaccines. Michele Gabriel, the Public Health Administrator and CEO of the KCHC said in a statement that, "We are honored to say that the Knox Community Health Center has been serving the community for 10 years." She goes on to say that the last 10 years were achieved through teamwork and dedication towards patient care from the staff and trust in them from their patients with their healthcare needs. "Being a federally qualified health center means that we can provide accessible and high-quality health care, behavioral health services, and dental care to our patients regardless of their ability to pay." Additionally, members from the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program and WIC program will be on hand with information as well. The Health Center offers several different programs including dental, behavioral, medical, and environmental health, family health services, and help with the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP.
