Vaccine Center closing, clinics to move to Health Department

The Knox County Unified Command Vaccine Center, located at the old Bergener's store, is closing at the end of this week. Beginning on Monday, September 12, Knox County's COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics will move to the Health Department, located at 1361 West Fremont St. With the move, vaccinations at the health department will be by appointment only on Mondays and Fridays from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Scheduling an appointment can be done by calling (309) 344-2224. "As we transition to providing COVID-19 vaccines into the Health Department, I want to thank the residents of Knox County and surrounding areas for helping to protect our community during the COVID-19 pandemic" states Michele Gabriel, Public Health Administrator. She adds that "getting vaccinated continues to be the best way to protect yourself, your family, friends, and your community. Knox Community Health Center celebrating 10 year anniversary with health fair

The Knox Community Health Center is celebrating 10 years as a federally qualified health center. The celebration will include a health fair on the front lawn of the health care center tomorrow afternoon from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. As part of the activities, representatives from the health center will be handing out free COVID-19 self-testing kits, N95 masks, and offering COVID-19 vaccines. Michele Gabriel, the Public Health Administrator and CEO of the KCHC said in a statement that, "We are honored to say that the Knox Community Health Center has been serving the community for 10 years." She goes on to say that the last 10 years were achieved through teamwork and dedication towards patient care from the staff and trust in them from their patients with their healthcare needs. "Being a federally qualified health center means that we can provide accessible and high-quality health care, behavioral health services, and dental care to our patients regardless of their ability to pay.
