On this thursday, may 10th. Beautiful. It was gorgeous. People were tanning. They were enjoying the sun. It was the warmest day since last october and will continue to hang on to that heat today. Heres a live look outside from the exploratorium camera. We are clear here. We have the faintest marine layer right now around Half Moon Bay, a little bit around the Golden Gate Bridge, and that will lead to a little bit of Coastal Cooling today, but we are going to warm up inland even hotter than yesterday temperatures. Right now we dont have that offshore wind, so were not as warm as we were yesterday. Were in the 40s and mid 50s right now. And again, that wind. Remember yesterday morning it was gusting 20 to 40mph. That is now gone. And we have light winds to begin our friday. So the day looks like this. It is bright. We have a lot of sunshine on the way. But around the bay shoreline and inland we are hot in the 80s and low 90s, returning inland, well take a closer look at these highs and preview the weekend. Coming up in eight minutes. So expect that to happen later on this morning. The president arrived last night at moffett field, then boarded a helicopter to San Francisco. He is here to raise money for his reelection campaign. The last time he was in the bay area, he was doing the same thing. We spoke with Political Science experts who tell us why he comes to this region, and they told us this area is full of very wealthy people who can help fund elections. Its a cliche, but we are the nations piggy back for these campaigns. Theres a lot of people here with a lot of money and a lot of interest in who wins these elections. Campaign donations are a way of showing how well youre doing. Its almost like people are voting with their dollars. And its official Oakland International airport has a new name despite major opposition, including a lawsuit from San Francisco, the port of oakland, which is in charge of the airport, voted on moving forward with the name change. They released this new logo. Its now called San Francisco bay Oakland International airport. The board says its about location, location, location. They conducted research. It shows a name change could attract more passengers to oakland by letting them know the city is another gateway to the bay area, and a name change can certainly do that. That brings the knowledge for people past the mississippi to really understand where oakland sits in the greater bay area, and also internationally, really of understanding from people from around the world of where oakland is in this greater bay area. But it seems the next steps may play out in court. The San Francisco City Attorneys Office issued this statement to abc seven news, saying it is disappointing that oakland chose to ignore our multiple offers to collaborate on an alternative name and avoid litigation. The California Public Utilities Commission voted unanimously to approve a flat monthly fee of 24. 15 that will be in addition to what they pay for their actual usage. Commissioners also approved an electricity rate decrease of 5 to 0. 07 per kilowatt hour. The changes will be rolled out between the end of next year and the beginning of 2026. Commissioners say the reduction could be an incentive for people to switch to electric vehicles and appliances. So for someone who electrifies their home and vehicle, they would save an average of up to 44 a month compared to the status quo. And the reason customers are financially better off is because the new billing structure will reduce the Price Per Unit of electricity by roughly 5 to 0. 07 per kilowatt hour. A Consumer Advocacy Organization called turn, short for the utility reform network, supports the changes, saying they promote stability, especially in areas with more extreme weather. But its members say more needs to be done to lower rates. Donald trump will be back in a manhattan courtroom today in trial over his criminal hush money case. Now, prosecutors have not said who their next witness will be after wrapping up dramatic testimony from adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Now, abc News Reporter Andrew Dymburt tells us, it was so graphic at times. Trumps defense team asked the judge to declare a mistrial. It was a tense crossexamination as Stormy Daniels wrapped up her nearly seven hours on the stand, questioned about her alleged sexual encounter with former President Trump at a California Hotel in 2006, an encounter trump denies. The defense questioned the veracity of daniels story, including her claims that she became lightheaded and felt the room spin after seeing trump in his underwear. Another thing that was just totally not believable was like, and i went to the bathroom and our dinner and when i came out of the bathroom, he was there just in boxers and a t shirt and i almost fainted. And susan necklace said, youve made 200 movies and a man in his 60s, and the boxers and a t shirt that made you faint, shes like, well, i just wasnt expecting it. It didnt come off as credible. But daniels, defiant on the stand when trumps lawyer asked, you have a lot of experience of making phony stories about sex appear to be real, daniels fired back. The sex in the films is very real. Just like what happened to me in that room. She added that if she were to fictionalize her encounter with trump, i would have written it to be a lot better. The defense once again moved for a mistrial, claiming daniels graphic account was extremely prejudicial testimony, but the judge refused , telling trumps lawyers you deny that there was ever a sexual encounter between Stormy Daniels and the defendant. Your denial puts the jury in a position to decide who they believe. Daniels, late yesterday called trump out directly, writing on social media real men respond to testimony by being sworn in and taking the stand in court. Oh wait, never mind. It comes as we learn that one of the potential prosecution witnesses, karen mcdougal, will not be taking the stand. Mcdougal, a former playboy playmate, claims she also had an affair with trump and that trumps team allegedly paid the National Enquirer to buy the rights to her story to keep it a secret. The only key witness remaining for the prosecution, trumps former fixer michael cohen, who has claimed that trump reimbursed him for the 130,000 payment made to contain daniels story before the 2016 election. The prosecution, looking to make the case that trump falsified business records. But trump insists all payments to cohen were for legal services, and his lawyers are expected to pounce on the fact that cohen previously admitted to lying to congress. Also on the stand yesterday, trumps former executive assistant who handled checks, she testified trump was closely involved in reviewing checks and financial details. Shell be back on the stand today. Michael cohen is expected to testify by next week. Andrew dymburt, abc news, new york, 509. We had a warm day yesterday.
