The third since yesterday morning. United says these incidents are unrelated and they are working on repairs now. One of those other incidents involved a united plane that veered off the runway at Houston International airport this morning. The National Transportation safety board is sending a team there to investigate. The plane, as you can see, ended up tipped as it came to a stop in a grassy area of the runway with one wing almost touching the ground. No one was hurt here. No word yet on what may have gone wrong. And were learning the united plane that lost a tire while taking off from sfo yesterday is scheduled to make a passenger flight back to San Francisco tomorrow morning. The plane is still in los angeles, landing today. Thats where it made an Emergency Landing after the tire incident, which was live streamed by a plane hobbyist. Earlier today, we caught up with one man who at sfo was at sfo recording planes during takeoff. People definitely see our live streams as like a comforting thing because lets say, take people who are scared of flying and they hop in these live streams and they see like, lets say, incidents like that. It is near Auto Center Drive and west sixth street. Its close to the babe ruth memorial baseball fields. You see it here . Con fire says its burned about five acres. So far, no structures have been threatened. But the fire appears to be burning in a wetlands area near the edge of the san joaquin river. Well have more details as soon as they become available. In San Francisco, residents were drawn to a towering geyser that sent water into the air after a 36 inch water main suddenly burst. What is happening . This is wow yeah, this happened around 1030 this morning. Right next to a home on wawona street, not far from stern grove. Abc seven News Reporter suzanne fawn talked to neighbors and shows us what happened. Well, water gushing into the air, surprising neighbors on wawona street near stern grove and pine lake park. Robin cookston, who didnt want to appear on camera, described the spectacle. It looked like a giant tower of water about three stories tall. It was really surprising. And heres what it looked like from sky seven. The San FranciscoPublic Utilities commission explained what happened. Quote, the cause of the break appears to be the failure of an eight inch valve connected to a 16 inch water transmission line. The scope and schedule for all repairs, including for the hillside into the park, is still being determined. Maxine shaw saw what happened after the deluge of water came down and crews turned off the flow. Well, theres a big pit next to someones home, so probably theres, theyre going to have to shore up the home. Crews taped off parts of the area and were working on putting up fencing. So i want that fence line all the way down here. About three years ago, there was another water main break around here at sloat and 22nd avenue, about 700,000 gallons of water flooded stern grove park with mud and water. The geyser from that probably went up about 150ft. So that brought down a hillside and filled this whole valley with mud. The last stern grove festival concert of that season was canceled. Show and other neighbors vividly remember that water main break and all the damage done. Many cant believe it happened again. Others say it doesnt come as a surprise. Old infrastructure. Old, old. This is, you know, old city. Were rebuilding all the sewers and all all the Water Infrastructure now. But, you know, this is 100 years old and were not in the most stable situation. Its sand. They built it under sand and they built houses on top of it. So its not a its not unusual that this would happen in San Francisco. Suzanne vaughn, abc seven news a separate water main break not far away caused a water outage at San Franciscos Statue University today. University Officials Say it has since been resolved and Water Service restored. They did not say what kind of water main it was or what might have caused the break at sfsu, state and local authorities are testing for a potentially harmful algae in oaklands lake merritt. They were alerted when rust colored water fanned out across the lake yesterday. The bloom produces a toxin that sucks oxygen out of the water, suffocating marine life. In august of 2022, lake merritt and parts of San Francisco bay were hit by a harmful algal blooms. They are believed to have killed off thousands of fish. The test results from this current bloom could be released as soon as this weekend. It is International Womens day and this year womens march was done in solidarity with the palestinian people. Since 1963, this kitchen has been serving hot lunches to unhoused folks in downtown santa rosa. On friday, a final meal was being prepared. This will be done in 15 minutes. Mary cook has been making lunches here for 19 years. Very sad. We got to say goodbye to love people. Ive been served for 15 years or more. Sams faith based nonprofit has been running the kitchen since 2021, providing hot meals to hundreds of people like john five days a week. I always get a hot meal here, so, so im happy to be here. Its a blessing from god to be here. Saint Vincent De Paul of Sonoma County is selling the building, the charity telling abc seven news closing the dining room was a very difficult decision for our board that took years to decide. However operating the dining room threatened the very existence of our organization financially and we have to put the Fiscal Health of our Organization First so that we do not jeopardize all the other works of charity that we do. We have to empty everything so this food. Sam says his ministry cant afford to buy the building, so hes looking to donate a freezer full of food to another nonprofit. For now, sam is not sure where all the folks he serves here will go. Meantime, hes trying to raise money to find a new location to serve hot meals. The oscars are a time to celebrate art, film. Economic justice is right and wrong, and also a pivotal time for Fashion Designers to get their masterpieces on the red carpet. This one actually attended obamas inaugural ball. So before i headed to hollywood, i wasnt a mission to feature several bay area Fashion Designers on her oscar weekend coverage. My first stop Oakland School for the arts. These are our middle school students, sixth through eighth grade. Stephanie verrier is a Fashion Design chair for the school. Youve been very successful as a Fashion Designer, but i also love that youre giving back to the next generation. The students here are just like, theyre so talented and its definitely proof that if you can give students and children access to resources to the arts, that they can really thrive and grow. And yeah, i get to be part of the next generation of Fashion Designers kind of handing down my wisdom and my years of experience in the industry onto them. Verrier and sacco is the fashion line she created with her Business Partner and Fashion School friend, kimmy sacco. Since 2008, success has followed them. One of our gowns is going to be archived at the de young museum. Its pretty huge.
