That man among more than half a dozen swimmers caught in rip currents along the jersey shore this weekend. Three of those people dying, including a 24yearold man. People started yelling, help, help thats when everybody started to run off the beach, calling for the lifeguards. Reporter a rip current is a strong, narrow, fastmoving flow of water from a beach back out to the ocean or a lake. It can be up to 150 feet wide and faster than an olympic swimmer. Beach after beach along the east coast currently under high or moderate rip current alerts. These waves, remnants of tropical storms and hurricanes in the atlantic. The red cross says if you find yourself caught in a rip current, the first thing you need to do is perhaps the hardest. Dont panic. Dont swim directly toward the shore.
