Maybe they should do pass fail and students pick their own or maybe everybody should just get an a. We want you to weigh in and were asking because San Francisco Unified School District is considering the third option giving all students as. Heres Julian Glover with more on this. Good morning, julian. We want to start by stressing this is just a proposal, a final decision still has to be made later on this month. But, yes, the idea of giving all students within the San Francisco Unified School District an a got a whole lot of support in tuesdays nearly sevenhour board meeting. This is a major contrast to what the state is proposing, recommending, rather of using a pass fail while schools remain closed during this pandemic. The move takes into account the unprecedented nature of schools being closed over the coronavis disparities in online Distance Learning for those who dont have resources to log online. First offering was made was that everyone gets an a or it was an a or incomplete. But another suggestion was that instead of a letter grade itself to just say pass. There was some concern around the letter grade and what it means to both students and families. You can hear School Board Members talking about both sides of the issue. Now, there is some concern among Board Members on how handing out a 4. 0 would affect college admissions. There was also plenty of discussion on whether giving all students, giving all students for the semester that a plus if it would deincentvize the Distance Learning if they knew they were getting that a plus anyway. More discussion before a decision is made. Im Julian Glover, abc7 news. Im looking at the numbers and most of you agree with what the state is recommending doing a pass fail. 17 of you think the students should be able to pick their own and nobody is reporting this proposal for everyone to get an a.
