Santa clara has settled its first coronavirus patients at the Convention Center. The center is serving as one of the first active field respite center. The site was converted and outfitted with bed supplies and medical supplies by the national guard. It was developed to serve people infected with coronavirus, but who have less severe symptoms. Current capacity seems to be normalized within our Hospital System today. But if for some reason we do surge up, theyll have the ability to transfer low acutac e patients to this site where they can then carry out their recovery. The Convention Center has the capacity to serve up to 250 people. This will enable area hospitals to maintain their capacity to treat patients requiring hospitalization. San franciscos palace of fine arts may be used as a temporary homeless shelter, an idea some Marina District residents may oppose. Supervisor katherine stephanie sent her constituents a letter detailing the citys plan. It calls for housing 162 people inside a vacant hall at the landmark.
