Here in San Francisco parking lots that are affected are at ford fundson and ocean beach. Last weekend many people reported seeing big groups at parks and beaches, some upwards of 30 to 40 people having picnics, for example, not following social protocol distancing. Mendocino two confirmed cases and lake county still reporting none. As coronavirus cases continue to surge, Contra Costa County says it will use the high school in martinez as a temporary care site. For now it will help patients with less complicated medical needs. The county expects to use the gym and kitchen area, but not the classrooms. The county is also looking into using the Pittsburg Health center. The Oakland City Council yi to advance measures to g over address the Public Health crisis. This comes after a town hall last night. Also started to open the just under 400 hotel rooms thanks to the state of california that were secured to take our unsheltered off the streets. The mayor wanted people to know what resources are available. She talked about grants for Small Businesses and the possibility of closing city parks, if people do not take social distancing seriously. Dr. Paterson says blood tests could be a good route to test people who developed antibodies. Those people would have protection from getting sick. Outhwest Airlines Gate agent has tested positive for coronavirus. He last worked at Oakland International airport on sunday. Dan noyes has been investigating what, if anything, has been done to alert customers who had contact with that agent. Some employees are worried about the spread of coronavirus after a gate agent tested positive. The employee sent me pictures of terminal two with workers doing a deep clean. The agent worked at gate 23, you can see it cordoned off and gates 25, 26, 27 and that he used the bathroom at the terminal two baggage claim. Southwest tells me an enhanced cleaning of the gate areas was performed in accordance with applicable guidelines. They shut down and cleaned the bathroom. A Maintenance Worker said he was heavy on the hydrogen peroxide. Wrm im not going to touch anything. I touched my bag and ill walk in the door and sit down on the plane. Happening today, the coronavirus testing site in hayward will be open again but this time there could be some tighter restrictions on who can get a test. Abc 7 News ReporterAmy Hollyfield joining us live in hayward with what we can expect today. You have been following this day by day and it really has been changing day by day. You know, julian, a goldy goldylocks moment. Monday they were too strict. They were screening people and only allowing people who had a fever to get the test. That turned out to be too restrict of. Only 207 people made it through the screening to get a test that day. Well, they have 360 tests a day. So, tuesday, wednesday, they just asked people a few questions. They let the elderly and the homeless through no matter what. That meant too many people got through and they overwhelmed the lab. We were seeing a lot of people get the test, which is great for us. But, you know, the county and Health Department said, symptom can get the test. Those are the guidelines were using today. Yeah, so, thats the big one now. You have to have symptoms of the virus. Even the homeless and the elderly, they will require you to have symptoms before they give you a test. They also will likely shut down early today. So, come this morning, if you want to test, they are open on the weekend, too. So, tomorrow same, same schedule. They open at 9 00 every morning. The original plan had to been to stay open until 6 00 p. M. And theyll get back to that. Right now to let that lab catch up, theyll shut down in the early afternoon. Altogether just over 20,000 results have come back and that leaves 57,000 people who are still waiting for their results. Uc berkeley Professor John schwartzburg says its appalling how few tests the u. S. Has done. Really a crime that were in this position. We havent tested enough people to really have a thorough understanding of how many people are infected and how many people arent infected. Where are those people . Dr. Schwartzberg says south korea has done more tests in one day than the u. S. Has done in total. We want to look at the big picture now and check out the number of cases across the bay. The number of covid cases in the bay area has doubled as more people get tested. Monday 579 cases and this morning nearly double 1,456 confirmed cases. 248 more cases than we had at this time yesterday. 32 people have died so far. They were all serving time for nonviolent offenses. Alameda county judge has ordered the release of eight santa rita inmates who are vulnerable. And bts postponed its north american tour and that includes the april concert at levi concert in santa clara. The u. S. Struggles to deal with a surge in covid19 cases. The 80yearold from panama came to visit feeling great and then turned to bilateral pneumonia. Families will be hurt and families will be broken and, you know, Everybody Needs to take this seriously. Thank god for the kind nurse that was taking care of mom. She on monday was able to get us on a facetime. Tell her that we loved her. This is just one of the most tragic parts of the entire pandemic. Having to say goodbye on facetime. Really symbolizes a new challenge that faces families today coping with loss. That is tough. Wow.
