Parts of sonoma, solano counties will lose power at around 7 00 this morning and then followed by marin, san mateo and contra costa counties around 11 00 tonight. This is the projected outage map here. I want to bring over the current outage map. If you look at the pink icons here, that is where people are affected right now by the Public Safety power shutoff. Pg e says todays shutoffs impact many of the same customers who lost power over the weekend. Im doing the best i can with ice and several bags. Doing okay right now. It could be another week before the kincade fire is fully contained. A red flag warning, meaning the winds are expected to pick back up. The kincade fire burned more than 74,000 acres, thats 115 square miles or about the size of the city of fresno. Cal fire says it expects full containment by next thursday. They are letting some residents back home into areas that werent affected by the fire. As you know healdsburg, parts of healdsburg did burn. Healdsburg is closed, still evacuated. Yesterdays weather gave them a break so they took advantage of that and got aggressive with their work and got it 15 contained. They still consider 90,000 structures to be threatened and worried about the next round of winds blowing through so they are attacking from all sides. They tell me the most activity theyre seeing right now is on the Northeast Corner of the fire. It was a quiet nothing, nothing major to report from overnight. The rest of us in the 40s. Take a look. Im not as worried of this event with more trees coming down but worried of it picking up embers and pushing them downwind and starting new fires. Here is a comparison of the current kincade fire versus the 2017 tubbs fire, one of the worst. The tubbs fire burned a smaller area but destroyed more than 5,000 homes. Joel and Tina Chandler live where hundreds of homes burned two years ago. They moved back in recently only to be evacuated again, and they say its just all too much. Now some people are obviously extremely concerned about how long these shutoffs can keep happening. Others are just glad they have to deal with an outage versus a major fire. Since only our fridge is working, at least we have food. Last night i couldnt even cook any food when i got home after work which kind of sucked. So i had to eat some crackers and stuff. And theres also no heat so ive been piling on the blankets on top of me. I know people have lost property in sonoma and with the fires that broke out in lafayette, im okay with it. I was a skeptic before but i would rather have no power and have a house than not. Reporter even if your power was restored last night you may experience another shutoff today. The generator business in california is certainly doing well. Thousands of people in the Santa Cruz Mountains expect their power to stay off during this new round of outages. Some people have stocked up on supplies. Others arent taking any chances. One woman said she and her family are going to get out and leave town. The power shutoffs have impacted communities with power lines aboveground and below ground. And those shutoffs are cutting off Communication Services to thousands of people statewide. They stated the fire started in the same area as an electrical malfunction. They could face fines for not turning the fire off before that fire. We are assessing whether or not we should advance appropriate fines where the protocols have not been met. The fire also destroyed two outbuildings at the club and damaged the roof and home. In milpitas a fire burned four homes near interstate 880. Police say the fire destroyed one home and damaged three others and took crews about five hours to put that fire out. One chicago couple came to california and left with a now viral wedding photo. They wanted a class k ceremony in wine country but the kincade fire made it anything but that. They got married saturday night at the chateau st. John in Sonoma County. Check out this other shot of the wedding. The kincade fire burning just miles away. Most of the wedding event staff was forced to evacuate but somehow managed to pull it off. We thought we would make a beautiful trip for people. And now they have a story forever. They sure do. They came away with one forever. It is certainly iconic. Were they not scared to have the wedding with all this burning a few miles away . I think when you spend thousands of dollars and all your guests are flying in, they only had one california guest, everyone else was from out of town.
