We are expecting the outage to hit here in san jose at noon. We are learning that 100 intersections could lose signa signals. That would make things dangerous for drivers. Story road sees 30,000 vehicles a day. Officials recommend staying off the roads if you can. 38,000 pg e customers could be impacted. We definitely saw people getting that message yesterday. Residents inside a safeway were at one point met with empty shelves. The bottled water was gone. People who did not get their hands on bottled water there, maybe if you need another cool place to stay or charge your phone, there will be three City Resource Centers open and available for impacted residents. At some level this is a power outa outage, so not a big deal. We will be able to scale up and add capacity at Community Centers or bring additional Community Centers online to meet the needs of residents. Im here just outside of orinda on the east side of the caldecott tunnel. This is a huge concern for folks who live on this side of the bay. At this point signs are up by caltrans saying the tunnel may close at noon. That is despite what we heard from caltrans that they were trying to bring in generators and Power Systems to try and keep this tunnel up and running. I think people are wondering why you would have to close the tunnel, but there are lights, ventilation systems, fans, emergency systems that need to be operating in order for the tunnel to remain open. Just down the road from where im standing, of course there is both lafayette and orinda, maraga, all of those areas could lose power at noon today. Downtown lafayette, we can show you some video there from yesterday, of course like all the towns in this area, there are a lot of restaurants that would be concerned.
