Along monterey road, surrounding businesses are offering support to families of those who were killed. We thought it would be appropriate that we donate 100 of the sales to the families and the affected victims. Relief efforts reflective of the spirit of gilroy. Finishing touches for this weekends festival of the arts in fremont also includes security plans. We have pretty much an unprecedented level of security at our festival. The festivals director is confident this event will be safe. Sky 7 was there as security cameras were installed on paseo padre parkway today, and soon steel barricades and a police watchtower will go up. Because of a shooting at the garlic festival, security is even tighter. The police in response to that have also added on uniformed s. W. A. T. Team members that will be in the crowds. Theyve changed their level of firearms that theyll be carrying, and theyll just be more Police Officers out there. I wouldnt expect it to happen again. I guess it was a onetime thing. Festival goers have mixed reactions to attending. This woman isnt sure if she wants to take her family. It being so close, i think it just changes it makes you definitely more aware of what you have to do. A lot of preparation taking place until the festival opens on saturday. This is its 36th year. And a Sonoma County sheriffs deputy shot a man after he attempted to stab a Security Guard at the santa rosa plaza. It happened just after 5 30 p. M. The suspect took off from the mall and was found by deputies nearby at ninth and morgan somehow got inside the deputys patrol vehicle. The deputy fired his weapon, hit the man three times. He was arrest and taken to the hospital with nonlifethreatening injuries. San jose police have arrested a man suspected of sexually assaulting a 12yearold child in an alley. Police arrested 43yearold kashman hill yesterday afternoon. A person called police saying they saw hill lure the child into an alley on the 100 block of north fourth street. Officers arrived within minutes of the report and arrested him. He faces three counts of lewd act with a minor and is currently in the Santa Clara County jail tonight. In the east bay today, the jury for the ghost ship trial completed its first full day of deliberations with no decisions. The ghost ship founder Derick Almena and selfdescribed creative director max harris are each charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter. The jury will resume deliberations tuesday morning.
