Now the suspect in the new york attack is revealing disturbing details about his plot, as we learn heartbreaking details about his victims. Good evening. Im dan ashley. And im kristen sze in for ama daetz. The new York City Marathon this sunday will have the tightest security ever following yesterdays terror attack. Thats right. We learned the man in the truck rampage was interviewed by the feds in 2015 about possible terrorist ties. Abc News Reporter maggie rulli has the latest now from new york city. Were now getting a look inside the horror following that deadly terror attack. I i need an ambulance right here right here the guy tboned. Come on. This kid right there. Authorities say 29yearold Sayfullo Saipov had been planning the rampage for weeks, even conducting a reconnaissance run, renting a truck and visiting the very spot where he planned to attack. On his cell phone officials found thousands of isis images and more than 90 propaganda videos. And a note left behind in his truck seeming to praise the islamic state. He appears to have followed almost exactly to a t the instructions that isis has put out in its social media channels. Reporter . Saipov moved to the u. S. In 2010, most recently in paterson, new jersey with his wife and three children. It was here saipov rented that truck from home depot and began his deadly assault, traveling nearly a mile down a popular bike path. Court records showing he was prepared to travel miles further to the Brooklyn Bridge had he not crashed into this school bus. Officials crediting officer ryan nash with jumping into action, shooting and wounding saipov. I feel that we were just doing our job, like thousands of officers do every day. Federal Officials Say saipov made a full confession from his hospital bed, saying he was proud of what he had done. This is the biggest threat we face right now in this country is individuals while in the United States have become radicalized. Saipov has been charged with terrorism, accused of executing the deadliest terror attack here in new york city since 9 11. Maggie rulli, abc news, new york. The fbi sent this alert out today asking for any information about this man wanted in relation to the new york attack. They have since tracked him down, but the agency is still having if anyone has any information about him to please come forward. The president sent out another tweet tonight about the attack, writing the United States will be immediately implementing much tougher extreme vetting procedures. The safety of our citizens comes first. Were learning more about the eight people who died in the attack. They include a mother of two young boys who was visiting from belgium. Five were tourists and friends from argentina, celebrating their 30th anniversary from graduating high school. Also, two american men, one from new york, another from new jersey. It happened this evening in thornton, just north of denver. Two men and woman were killed. Police say witnesses told them a man came in one of the doors and opened fire. Police are still looking for him tonight. San Francisco Police are investigating whether the carjacking of a taxi is related to a Police Shootout in the castro that has an officer in Critical Condition tonight. Abc 7 News ReporterLonnie Rivera is live in the newsroom. Lonnie . San Francisco Police say the investigation is still very much ongoing. As for the injured police officer, he is a nineyear veteran with the department. He underwent surgery and was last listed in critical but stable condition. Rapid gunfire rang through this Castro District neighborhood. Officer down, officer hit. Ive been hit. We need another 408 for another officer. He got hit in the head. Street marking and yellow tape still evident. Jeffrey ye couldnt return home until wednesday because diamond street was closed off. The police have to do what they need to do. Just after midnight someone notified officers about a suspicious vehicle near 18th and diamond street. Detectives say it turned out to be a stolen chrysler sedan. When officers approached the car, there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and at least one officer. Both of them are recovering in the hospital. The suspects condition is life threatening. A firearm believed to be the suspects was also recovered at the scene. Police are also investigating a possible connection to another crime. Investigators say a taxi cab was carjacked in the castro shortly after the shooting. The cab was ditched on oak wood street in the mission district. Ben martin says police searched all around his house. There was this taxi cab parked here. Police say a resident flagging them down about a suspicious car was helpful. Theyre reinforcing their message if you see something, say something. In San Francisco, loni rivera, abc 7 news. The lawsuits are piling up against pg e in connection with the devastating fires in the north bay. Now a lawyer has petitioned a court that all lawsuits against pg e be heard by the same judge. At last count, 107 plaintiffs are involved in nine lawsuits filed by ten different law firms alleging that pg e failed to properly maintain equipment which led to the wildfires. Tomorrow a Resource Center will open to help Small Business owners find information about disaster loans and other tools to keep going. The center is in santa rosa and all services are free. The approaching rain could be a bless organize a curse for wildfire scorched areas in the north bay there is fear about potential landslides and pollutants from destroyed areas running into the bay. But the first rains of the season could also help to germinate seeds that survived the fire and firm up soils before heavier rains arrive later in the season. So its kind of a mixed blessing. New developments tonight in the case of a bay point man who died in Police Custody last year. Newly released body cam video shows the moments leading up to the death of lilian kim has the story. Body cam video obtained by the east bay times shows a Pittsburg Police officer putting 32yearold Umberto Martinez in a chokehold. At one point you can hear martinez struggling to breeze. He is still resisting. This encounter was a result of a pursuit that began after police tried to pull over martinez for expired tags. Martinez drove to a friends house instead and ran into the garage. Officers chased him into the kitchen. And after a struggle, an officer ended up applying the chokehold. Its just a life and death struggle where umberto is struggling to breathe, and theyre insisting that he not move while they choke him out. And they killed him. Officers tried to revive martinez to no avail. A coroners inquest found his death to be an accident. But friends who were at the house believe it otherwise. That little bit of him showing him dying and struggling to breathe. How can you not hear a man trying to breathe. And you still keep on choking him and beating him. A spokesperson for Pittsburg Police declined a statement on camera, but in a statement said they believe the officers acted lawfully and consistent with training and experience.
