Sandhya patel is tracking the temperatures in the accuweather forecast. This heat wave is about to intensify. It was a recordsetting day. Sa rafel, 97 degrees. San francisco at 95. Triple digits inland. 101 in antioch. 86 in San Francisco. 90 in oakland. Excessive heat warning covering all parts of the bay area with the exception of San Francisco and the coast from tomorrow through monday. 105 to 115 degrees the hottest spots. Tomorrow, low 80s to mid 90s in San Francisco. And high fire danger until 8 00 p. M. Saturday. The hill tops going under a red flag warning, as theyll see gusty winds and low humidity. A. Wildfire in the smoke in oregon and in california actually drifting towards the bay area. The northnortheast wind bringing that and taking the care quality down. Heres a look at the time lapse. You can see how poor the air quality has been. Tomorrow is a spare the air day. Red is rare to see. The last time we had this was june of 2009. But the situation is dire in some communities east of here when the water isnt expected to start receding for days. The flooding in beaumont, texas now so overwhelming, this and every other shelter evacuated. Families who came with so little, rushed out with even less. Nearby, 200 patients evacuated from this hospital. And in homes, people still stranded with the water in some parts of east texas rising. The coast guard hammering through this roof to free a family from their attic. Rescue after rescue, from the air its time to go. Reporter and by boat. I never thought it would happen to me. It always happens to somebody else, but never to you. And now it is. Reporter farther west in crosby, texas, officials down playing concerns that this flooded chemical plant, even though they believe more fires are inevitable in houston, house was in flames. Firefighters diving into the flood water just to get to the hydrant. But in other communities, the water finally receding. Enough for people to return home. Im speechless. Its just devastating. Reporter the cleanup just starting in rockport, too. Vice president mike pence pitching in there. Help coming in from across the country for people who have lost everything and those whose lives are now being saved. It didnt matter what race, religion we was. We all come together in unity. Reporter an example of that unity, even though this area was so hard hit, the shelters here in houston are taking in all of those people being evacuated in beaumont. This has gone down maybe a foot in the last couple of days. These are folks going in and out to get their belongings. We have seen crews going in to get animals that may have been stranded. The shelter in houston is making room for them. Today, volunteers at the spca in houston moved out more than 100 animals. Theyll go to atlanta to make room for all the rescued dogs and cats expected to arrive at a houston shelter over the next few days. A big thank you to so many of you who donated to our abc day of giving to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Four deputies have been arrested, accused of allowing an inmate to throw bodily fluids on other inmates. Katie marzullo has this story from dublin. Reporter inside in jail, four deputies are accused of facilitating the mistreatment of inmates. They allegedly allowed an inmamt to throw urine afeces on other inmates. Theyre now charged with assault. It angers me. I hired these people, and they have broken the trust of the public, theyve broken the trust of the jail, the inmates that they are supposed to care for. And diplomatic tensions between the United States and russia. Tonight, a bay area building is front and center. And its cooled off a bit right now. But dangerous heat is on the way. Yes, i have. Ive been broken into in three neighborhoods. Reporter car breakins have become common place in San Francisco. The signs are hard to miss. Burglaries are up 28 . Now the police chief has a plan to cut down on these and several other crimes. You will see more officers on foot. We expect that to be a deterrent of crime, and we really intend to try to get in front of crime as much as we can do that. Reporter the number of officers on foot and bikes will soon double, to about 150. Theyll be taken from the narcotics unit and by dismantling the Patrol Bureau task force, the team created to bust serial car thieves. I dont think having a police force and increasing more police on the streets is going to assist with this. I just dont. Reporter the mission is a hot spot for car breakins. There were more than 1600 in 12 months. Thats why the police chief is focusing on this neighborhood. Foot patrols will quadruple here. Another change is to the dispatch center. Look at how fast the temperatures soar, coming up to 113 later in the afternoon. The alltime record is 115, set back in 1950. And is it going to get pretty chose to that, so well be watching for that. Here are some tips to keep you comfortable and safe during this heat wave that is going to last through the holiday weekend. High risk of heat illnesses, so stay cool and hydrate, unhealthy air quality because of the smoke and heat and well have elevated fire danger. You want to take it easy out there. Make sure that you not only stay hydrated, but avoid exposure to the heat during the peak of the day. If you cant, try to find ac or fans. Live doppler 7 hd showing you that the fog has disappeared. Just an indication of the offshore wind. The down sloping wind. Look at what its done to our temperatures. It is 80 right now at 11 00 at night in san jose. Many areas are in the 70s and 80s. So retaining some of that heat. You can even see some of the haze as we look across the bay toward the port of oakland. Dangerous heat, more records into the holiday weekend. And is it going to be cooler at the coast on sunday and monday. There is my Little Silver lining to this heat wave. Heres a look at the temperatures first thing in the morning. Temperatures range from the mid 50s to mid 70s. So definitely warm out there. Its not going to take a lot to cause those temperatures to come up quickly as we get the down sloping wind. Highs for friday, triple digits. 102 in san jose. Gilroy, 108 degrees. On the peninsula, 100 redwood city. 101 in palo alto. 82 in pacifica. Warm in downtown San Francisco, 88. 82 in daily city. North bay, temperatures spike into the triple digits for many of you. From ukiah to lake port, 106 in santa rosa. Head into the east way, 98 in oakland. Inland spots, 110 degrees in fairfield. 113 livermore. 114 degrees in walnut creek. Definitely is going to be a scorcher. If you think its bad tomorrow, well repeat it again on saturday. Inland highs in the dangerous category with 114, 115 not out of the question. 80s along the coastline. Sunday, still hot inland. Not as hot as friday and saturday. There is some relief at the coast. Temperatures in the 70s. Good idea to actually perhaps head towards the coastline. Monday, 70s. Labor day, 90s and 100s. Im tracking Tropical Storm lidia that is lashing out. Southern baja getting rain and wind. Leftovers of lidia, sunday into monday, as you take a look at this model, could be reaching our area along with monsoon moisture. As that comes up, we may be tracking thunderstorms between sunday night and monday. 114 friday, saturday. 80s at our beaches. Those are the two hottest days.
