Today, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Training Academy, along with the Governor’s Office and the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet, presented graduation diplomas to forty-five new troopers. Of those, six new troopers are assigned to Post 9. These cadets have special significance as they represent the one-hundredth training class since the inception of the agency in 1948.
KSP Post 9 Captain Randal Surber is excited to welcome new troopers to Pikeville. Surber said the troopers are beginning a rewarding career and it will be an honor to serve alongside them.
”We are very excited with the arrival of the new troopers at post. We are fortunate with this class because five out of the six reside in our post district, unlike other classes where they get trained and transfer out to their home town. Once they complete their field training program, these six men are going to be a great asset to not only our post but also to the communities located within our post district,” said Surber.
