COVINGTON, Ky. â Scam callers are at it again, the Kenton County Sheriff's Office said, and they're posing as law enforcement officers to convince victims to hand over money by phone or in person.
According to a scam alert Wednesday, the caller identifies themselves as "Lt. Yarboro" with the Kenton County Sheriff's Office, most recently from (859) 474-7750. Then, they ask for money in order "take care of" outstanding warrants or court costs.
But the sheriff's office said their staff will never ask citizens for money over the phone for missed jury duty, court fees or outstanding warrants.
