A record 50,112 fresh infections on Wednesday pushed Karnataka’s Covid tally beyond 17 lakh, a grim milestone only Maharashtra and Kerala have crossed so far. The state’s previous daily record was 48,296 on April 30. The state reported its highest-ever daily fatalities of 346. Bengaluru reported 23,106 fresh cases, around 3,600 lower than its singleday record of 26,756 cases on April 30. The state has a total of 17.4 lakh cases, including 4.8 lakh active ones.
