Indigenous employment
We encourage the employment of Indigenous Australians by providing training and development opportunities and offering a supportive workplace.
We take responsibility for the preservation of the nation's cultural heritage, as represented in our diverse collections. We seek to employ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our work to build, manage and preserve collections for future generations, and ensure Australia's stories can be known and told into the future with respect and sensitivity.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff provide services which better meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We provide a supportive work environment for staff and offer attractive employment conditions. In 2012, staff from across the Library came together to form the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Working Group. The group created an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy 2013-2018 and Operational Plans.
