I might have found a lunchtime oasis — and the newcomers who've been wiping my neighborhood H-E-B fresh out of ripe avocados.
It's Roots Salad Kitchen at the Flats at Big Tex. Leonard "Lem" Dixon and Michael Hicks, the owners of the spot that opened last week, are first-time restaurant owners, but they don't seem to need any training wheels.
I stopped by the restaurant a day ahead of their grand opening. The team was working like a well-oiled machine, clientele has clearly already been established, and the menu had me sending photos of my food to my health-conscious big brother.
