That was revisited Wednesday during a city council study session.
The backdrop to the discussion was the repeated petitions of a group of immigrant activists affiliated with Movimiento Cosecha who have been asking the council to sign a resolution in support of state legislation to allow undocumented immigrants to obtain driver's licenses.
Council has not taken any action on the group's request, citing a section of its internal rules which states, "Council will not take positions on matters or requests that do not pertain to or are not within the operational jurisdiction of the City."
Council member Lyn Raymond, who is serving her first term on the council, asked to review the rule several weeks ago after the council was approached by the activists again.
