HOLLAND — There were only a handful of measures on the local ballots for the Tuesday, May 4, election, but they were significant nonetheless.
Voters in the area had five tax proposals to voice their opinion on, including four for local schools, and all five passed based on unofficial results posted by Ottawa County Tuesday night.
All precincts in the county were fully reported by 9:24 p.m.
Ottawa County Clerk Justin Roebuck said it was a quiet day in terms of in-person voting, but there were a number of absentee ballots sent in ahead of election day.
"It's been a fairly quiet day, we're seeing in the precincts, because of the number of absentee ballots,” he said. “We've had about a little over 10 percent turnout already, as of this morning with our absentee numbers before anyone ever walked into a precinct."
