‘This will boost consumer confidence that they can trust these products’: CBD industry predicts sales lift as deadline for novel food applications approaches

With the UK deadline for Novel Food applications for CBD products approaching on March 31, industry body the Association for the Cannabinoid Industry (ACI) has announced a partnership with Trading Standards to ensure a smooth transition.
Many companies may have already invested in the application process. This involves submitting 90-day toxicity data which can cost between £300,000 and £1 million. The ACI previously set up a safety consortium to help its members compile their Novel Foods applications at a lesser cost.
