HINGHAM – Town residents voted on Saturday to make Carol Falvey their first new town clerk in more than two decades.
After 24 years, Town Clerk Eileen McCracken will retire and Falvey, a lawyer and former two-term member of the Hingham School Committee, will fill her role.
Falvey said she is looking forward to getting to know the staff in the clerk's office. She said she is focused on enacting new voting laws, as well as increasing voter engagement with new communication methods and improved use of social media.
"I was very gratified by the results," Falvey said Sunday. "I had a very strong team with people from sort of different groups in Hingham and I do feel like I had broad-based support. So I'm very humbled by the victory."
