HINGHAM – Town residents voted on Saturday to make Carol Falvey their first new town clerk in more than two decades. After 24 years, Town Clerk Eileen McCracken will retire and Falvey, a lawyer and former two-term member of the Hingham School Committee, will fill her role. Falvey said she is looking forward to getting to know the staff in the clerk s office. She said she is focused on enacting new voting laws, as well as increasing voter engagement with new communication methods and improved use of social media.  I was very gratified by the results, Falvey said Sunday. I had a very strong team with people from sort of different groups in Hingham and I do feel like I had broad-based support. So I m very humbled by the victory.

Board of Selectmen, Town Clerk races top Hingham s election

The selectmen s race is one of five competitive contests that will be decided on May 22 during the town s annual election, which was delayed this year. There are also four people running to become town clerk and races for a seat on the board of health, the board of assessors and the municipal light board.  Running to replace Power are Joe Kelly, Liz Klein and Michelle Larned. Selectmen are elected to three-year terms. Kelly is a union electrician with IBEW Local 103 and has five kids in the school district. He said that he wants to become a selectman to help bring people together in Hingham and break people out of their silos.
