Helping lost, injured hikers; fighting wildfires: DEC Forest Rangers to the rescue

State Forest Rangers have been busy lately rescuing lost and injured hikers, along with fighting wild fires and doing prescribed burns.
The following incidents occurred between April 5-10. All information below was supplied by the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
Town of Pleasant Valley Dutchess County
Wilderness Rescue: “On April 5 at 11:30 a.m., DEC’s Central Dispatch received a call from Dutchess County 911 about a 64-year-old woman from Pleasant Valley with a lower leg injury near the Mercury Trail at the Taconic Hereford Multiply Use Area. Three Forest Rangers responded and helped to package and transport the subject out of the woods to Pleasant Valley EMS. The subject was then taken to a local hospital for treatment.”
