GREEN BAY - Mask-wearing is once again required in Green Bay as health officials urge residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine and practice safety measures until more people are immune to the deadly disease.
The Green Bay City Council voted 9-3 Thursday to reinstate the city's mask ordinance, one day after the state Supreme Court tossed out Gov. Tony Evers' statewide mandate and ruled that he can't issue new orders without the Legislature's approval. Green Bay's policy, which officials first passed last summer, expired at 12 a.m. Wednesday.
Under the ordinance, anyone age 5 and older must wear face coverings in public, indoor settings while around people outside their household. The mandate expires on May 5 unless extended.
