AUSTIN — As millions of Texans endured countless hours without electricity while a record-setting freeze and deep snow knocked out generating plants, Gov. Greg Abbott and top leaders Tuesday signaled a possible overhaul of the state's grid-operating agency.
“The Electric Reliability Council of Texas has been anything but reliable over the past 48 hours,” Abbott said about the quasi-governmental agency that oversees the grid. “Far too many Texans are without power and heat for their homes as our state faces freezing temperatures and severe winter weather. This is unacceptable."
