AUSTIN As millions of Texans endured countless hours without electricity while a record-setting freeze and deep snow knocked out generating plants, Gov. Greg Abbott and top leaders Tuesday signaled a possible overhaul of the state s grid-operating agency.
“The Electric Reliability Council of Texas has been anything but reliable over the past 48 hours,” Abbott said about the quasi-governmental agency that oversees the grid. “Far too many Texans are without power and heat for their homes as our state faces freezing temperatures and severe winter weather. This is unacceptable.

Airline Road – South Padre Island Drive (SPID) to McArdle Road (18004A, Bond 2018)
The Contractor is reconstructing Airline Road between South Padre Island Drive (SPID) and McArdle Road. During the first phase of construction, all traffic is shifted to the east side of the roadway (northbound lanes) and Airline Road is reduced to one-lane, in each direction, within the construction limits.
On Friday, January 22, from 10 P.M. – 6 A.M. and Saturday, January 23, the Contractor will close Airline Road
between South Padre Island Drive (SPID) and McArdle Road.
