Build up around gaza , build up around gaza, International Reaction grows as leaders and diplomats around the world try to stop the conflict from escalating. From escalating. Well, in the last few hours, an Israeli Defence force spokesperson has said some half a Million People have already left northern gaza for the south and repeated that the Israeli Military does not actively target civilians. Prime minister target civilians. Prime minister rishi sunak will address the house of commons later today to set out the uks response to the escalating conflict. And well be speaking to the minister for armed forces , James Heappey, in armed forces, James Heappey, in the next hour. The next hour. Back at home, net migration is unlikely to fall to pre brexit levels even by the end of this decade. Will this be another conservative promise broken or Political Correspondent olivia utley live in westminster with the latest. Olivia yeah. Olivia yeah. Once upon a time we were promised net migration levels of below 100,000. Well thats not going to happen any time soon. Find out why with me. Okay. Okay. Okay. Also this morning, as data obtained by gb news shows a near 200 increase in drink spiking in lancashire alone. Our reporter sophie reaper has been out and about with local police on their new counter spiking operations and well bring you her exclusive report. Her exclusive report. And Jonathan Vautrey will have your latest Weather Forecast. And we should say very cold over the weekend where did that nippy wind come from . Lets that nippy wind come from . Lets go to jonathan. Good morning. Its a week of two halves, starting off relatively fine and settled, but wetter and windier conditions arriving later. Join me later for all the details and a lot of the things we want to talk about throughout the programme. Obviously dominated by the middle east. You can join in any of those discussions by emailing gbviews gbnews. Com. You can also tweet us. And one of the things i want to talk about is that milkman milk floats are making a comeback. Milkman milk floats are making a comeback. Im milkman milk floats are making a comeback. Im here for that. Comeback. Im here for that. Yeah, i love a milk float, but you havent got one. I havent got one, no. Okay. Right. So well talk about that because theres little twists to this. Why you should you this. Why you should why you could its good, whether could whether its good, whether its why basically its bad and why i basically milk makes me want to throw up which is a long you its a long story. But anyway , there you story. But anyway, there you are. Get in touch and talk to. Are. Get in touch and talk to. Us so top story this morning is the British Foreign office has been told has been joined by the us embassy in israel in urging people to move closer to a crossing a Border Crossing called rafah between gaza and egypt. As reports emerged that it could be opened in a matter of hours. Well , overnight the israeli well, overnight the Israeli Military have said half a Million People have already complied with its Evacuation Order and left the northern half of the gaza strip. Conditions for civil aliens in the strip worsen by the hour with water, food, power and medicine in scarce supply. Save the children says there is now no safe place left in gaza. While the chief of the un agency in the region says gaza is running out of life. Well, israeli troops continue their build up around the territory as a full scale invasion is now only a matter of time. Come this morning, an time. Come this morning, an official from the Israeli Defence force says that they are not targeting civilians in gaza. Well, if you were a civilian in gaza, would you trust that assurance . Yes. They say theyre assurance . Yes. They say theyre not actively targeting civilians in gaza. But if youre caught in in gaza. But if youre caught in the crossfire, doesnt seem to count, then, does it . Let us know what you think. Hospitals in gaza say they will only have power for another 24 hours. And nearly half a Million People have from the north have fled south from the north and of strip a full and east of the strip as a full scale invasion could now happen. We believe, any moment. We believe, at any moment. Well, our reporter tom sullivan reports on the crisis inside gaza. Inside gaza. Northern gaza has fallen eerily silent after another night of deadly bombing. Now the night of deadly bombing. Now the only thing falling from the sky are thousands of pamphlets containing a message from israel. Evacuate to the south immediately. We and so they did. Immediately. We and so they did. For many, the threat of more of israels bombs and impending invasion. In response to the terror attack which killed more than 1400in israel, outweighs orders from hamas to stay put. Orders from hamas to stay put. Hundreds of thousands fled south on whatever could carry them. Cars if there was fuel, horse and cart , if one could be found. And cart, if one could be found. But many turned to their own feet. Feet. The whole energy. The whole energy. The whole energy. But not everyone is leaving. But not everyone is leaving. This doctor and his staff at this Childrens Hospital say they simply cant evacuate. They simply cant evacuate. Can. Can. If you want to kill us, kill us while we continue working here, we will not leave. We need here, we will not leave. We need days and weeks to secure another place. Unfortunately there are no empty nurseries in these difficult conditions. The situation is really dangerous. I tell you that transferring these children from this place means handing them a death sentence. They will die. And this equipment only operates of electricity and oxygen in nearby Al Shifa Hospital continues to receive a flow of bodies pulled from the rubble of bombed neighbourhoods. Neighbourhoods. This doctors here say the hospital is ovennhelmed with civilians, the injured and the orphaned. Where do these orphaned. Where do these children go now . Foreign children go now . Foreign nationals have been told to head to gazas border with egypt. But as they arrive there , there was as they arrive there, there was no escape here. For those with european and american passports can only wait for the gates to be opened. Among them, mariam be opened. Among them, mariam and her mother, who travelled from their home in the uk to gaza to visit family every time ijust gaza to visit family every time i just have to have the thought of me dying in a bomb in gaza like its not a good thing. Like its not a good thing. Like every place i go , i go like every place i go, i go run away and i just find bombs and i find dead people and like, maybe one day ill end up like them. But its a really scary thing for me. Thing for me. Israel has ovennhelming support by the eu. The uk and the United States over its right to defend itself and eliminate hamas. A terror group that has inflicted unimaginable suffering and bloodshed on the country. And bloodshed on the country. But such messages of support have increasingly come with a warning to retaliate within International Law and to protect innocent Palestinian Civilians. Innocent Palestinian Civilians. This afternoon , the prime this afternoon, the Prime Minister is expected to reiterate that britains total condemnation of hamas attacks and set out the governments approach to the developing crisis. This is in the house of commons this afternoon. Commons this afternoon. Well, at least 17 british citizens are missing or confirmed dead following hamas attacks last weekend. And James Cleverly is due to use an International Summit in albania to further rally support for israel. Thats according to the Foreign Office, the first minister of scotland. Minister of scotland. Theyre having their national conference, humza yousaf and his mother in law, who is trapped in gaza, released these videos, got an update this morning from her mother in law who tells me theyre alive , which is what we theyre alive, which is what we were hoping to hear. Beyond that, im afraid the situation is dire. They they had a terrible night. Rockets were falling all around them. The falling all around them. The house was shaking. The children were screaming most of the night. They have, according to my mother in law , around one day my mother in law, around one day of supplies left. And theyre terrified to try to go out to any market, given theyre all being told to stay indoors. Being told to stay indoors. This will be my last video. This will be my last video. So everybody from gaza is moving towards where we are. 1 Million People, no food , no water. And people, no food, no water. And still the bombing them as they leave , were going to put them. Leave, were going to put them. But my thought is all these people in the hospital cannot be evacuated. Wheres humanity . Evacuated. Wheres humanity . Wheres peoples hearts in the world to let this happen . And in world to let this happen . And in this day and age and may god help. Us its hard to watch, help. Us its hard to watch, isnt it . Especially at this time. And lets talk a little bit more with james marlow, Foreign Affairs analyst. I mean, it continues. I dont know what day were on nine now, day ten, were on day nine now, day ten, day ten. It takes the wind out of my lungs all of these stories and accounts and just bring us right up to date because of right up to date because lots of developments happening developments have been happening overnight developments have been happening overnigi firstly developments have been happening overnigifirstly it does not seem yes. Firstly it does not seem that there was any rockets fired overnight towards israel, which is the first time in nine nights since on my phone. And thats the reason why ive just brought it in. Ive got two devices on there where as soon as rockets are fired from gaza into israel or even from lebanon into israel, the air raid sirens go off, go off. Now dont worry, its not going to happen over here because theyve got it on silent. But it means that i can see it on the screen. So we know exactly where the rockets are. Sirens off in the tel sirens are going off in the tel aviv or around the gaza aviv area or around the gaza area. A lot of people have been evacuated now the gaza evacuated now from the gaza periphery area, which is stay right ghost towns the right there. Ghost towns at the moment. Why would those james, why would those rockets be going have rockets not be going off . Have they ammunition . Are they run out of ammunition . Are they run out of ammunition . Are they what they conciliatory . And what theyre to here and is theyre trying to do here and is this tactical . How would you see this, this tactical . Israel has definitely yeah, israel has definitely hit them very, very hard. So the hit them very, very hard. So the hamas infrastructure was based out in gaza city, which is the reason why israel requested were not requested. But specifically said leave the area to the civilians, leave the area. And its very interesting youve got is Ismail Haniyeh , who is the is Ismail Haniyeh, who is the Supreme Leader of hamas, and he says to the palestinian earns living in gaza, do not leave your homes. Do not listen to israel. And where is he . Hes sitting in the comfort of doha, which is in qatar. Yeah and hes the one whos telling them, dont leave your homes, which is a tactic from a typical tactic from palestinian now with Palestinian Hamas. Now with regard to the rockets , theyve regard to the rockets, theyve definitely still got many , many definitely still got many, many and probably long range rockets , and probably long range rockets, but theyre waiting for israel to choose that moment to come in. And theres two reasons why israel have not yet gone into the gaza strip. Number one is because netanyahu has spoken to the president , joe biden, five times. And has a huge amount of the americans have a huge amount of sympathy of whats taking place. I mean, if i just put this on a scale of the americans being hit on 9 11 and pearl harbour, if you put those dead together , either it doesnt come together, either it doesnt come anywhere close to what took place just over a week ago in israel in terms of population numbers. This was horrific. And numbers. This was horrific. And just to remind myself how we got here, i looked at some video again very late last night, about 1130 midnight, exactly. Exactly. Some some of the video that i cant even talk about here this morning because its just so graphic and yet here we are, you know, as you say, day ten, the United Nations desperate for a ceasefire. They want israel to lift the blockade of the strip. They call these orders horrific these Evacuation Orders horrific and impossible for civilians. President biden , though, President Biden, though, overnight saying, you know, we still support militarily israel in what theyre doing, but really underlining that there needs to be diplomacy in all of this. Theres only going to be a resolution, diplomatic, not militarily, surely . No i dont agree. I dont agree. Agree. I dont agree. And the reason i dont agree. And the reason why i dont agree is because hamas won an election in 2005in gaza. I think its important to remember the reason why they won an election. Of course, you had huge amount of islamist supporting the radical faction of hamas , but at the time, fatah of hamas, but at the time, fatah were in charge and fatah led by Yasser Arafat at the time. And Yasser Arafat at the time. And then obviously Mahmoud Abbas , then obviously Mahmoud Abbas, they were pocketing hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars coming from the United States, the eu and donors all over the world. Everyone knows that they were pocketing i speak to friends or people that i know very well in jerusalem who are obviously arabs, big fans of Yasser Arafat. And i ask one particular person who used to be the manager of our building in jerusalem, and i said to him, but you know, hundreds of millions were put in his pocket. He said, yeah, know, at he said, yeah, i know, but at least on the map. Least he put us on the map. I said, well, what happened to all that money . He said, i dont know. It got buried with him. That was one of reasons why that was one of the reasons why diplomacy doesnt mean corruption, diplomacy doesnt mean cor|no, on, diplomacy doesnt mean cor|no, no, no. There has to be no, no, no. There has to be high level to resolve high level diplomacy to resolve this on the ground. No, but the reason i mention thatis no, but the reason i mention that is because that people that is because that the people in gaza, in the in in in gaza, in the palestinians in gaza voted for hamas as an alternative in 2006. In two thousand and seven, they violently took over all the Palestinian Authority buildings. There was a shootout. There was a huge of palestinians a huge amount of palestinians killed on both sides, which we dont see those demonstrations when it happens between them. When it happens between them. And often. And and that happens often. And then since time, youve had five since that time, youve had five or think its six wars between or i think its six wars between Palestinian Hamas and israel. And this cannot continue every six months where youve got rockets being launched from gaza. So this is an opportunity for palestinians to have a hope for palestinians to have a hope for a future, not everyone, of course, is supporting hamas. If course, is supporting hamas. If theres an opportunity to rid theres an opportunity to rid the gaza strip of the islamists. The gaza strip of the islamists. And its not just hamas, but and its notjust hamas, but its many other groups and the palestinians can come back and be by decent leadership be led by by decent leadership thatis be led by by decent leadership that is looking to build up gaza and turn it in because it has so much potential , then thats the much potential, then thats the future. If we go back to where we were before , this is going to we were before, this is going to flare up again in six months time, a years time. You were talking, james, about people you know, and our next guest is someone you know as well, you know, off and shes jessica. We speak to you jessica. Jessica we speak to you today. I told him im happy not to go. And he said, why . Why not to go. And he said, why . Why are you saying this . Because this is weird. Were going everywhere together. And i said, everywhere together. In other news this morning, predictions by the migration observatory have found that the number of people moving to the uk wont fall below 300,000 a year for the rest of the decade. Well, those figures would mean immigration numbers to britain would remain the same level as before brexit referendum. This is despite the Prime Minister calling last years Prime Minister calling last years figure too high. And it comes as the foreign secretarys on peace watch in the balkans today as he attends a summit in albania aimed at maintaining stability in the troubled region. Troubled region. Lets get the latest from our Political Correspondent. Olivia utley across this one. Utley is across this one. Olivia, good morning to you. Olivia, good morning to you. Morning. Its a bit of morning. Its a bit of a mixed bag for the Prime Minister from this report from the migration observatory today we are expecting to see migration figures go down from the record high that they reached last yean high that they reached last year, which got up to 606,000. But were not expecting them to drop below pre brexit levels. Now were expecting them to go down because in the coming years were expecting to see smaller numbers of immigrants coming over from ukraine and hong kong. Over from ukraine and hong kong. But because there is still such a very high demand for workers from outside of the uk, particularly in the health and social care sector, it looks like without a major change in policy, itll be pretty much impossible to get net migration down to under about 300,000. Now if you cast your minds back to sort of the early 2010s, David Cameron was promising net migration in the in the hundreds of thousands in the tens of thousands. In fact, now that is looking pretty much impossible. Suella braverman has already said that she would like to see fewer work visas issued. At the fewer work visas issued. At the moment. The rise is mainly due to work visas. But to make that to work visas. But to make that possible, she would need to recruit more for health and social care workers from the uk domestically. And at the moment domestically. And at the moment thats looking very, very difficult at olivia. Thank you very much indeed. Thank you very much indeed. Now everyone should be able to feel safe on a night out. This is a very interesting item coming up. Now, this is about spiking drinks up and down britain, violent and Sexual Offences against women are a real issue and they are a growing issue. I dont know who that was. But anyway, in lancashire, data obtained by us shows that since 2012, the number of spiking incidents has increased by almost 200 and our north west of england. Reporter sophie reaper went out with Lancashire Police on one of their new night Time Operations see the prevention operations to see the prevention work doing first hand. Work theyre doing first hand. And sent this exclusive and she sent this exclusive report a wet and windy night out in lancaster. In lancaster. The freshers have returned to university and all seems well , university and all seems well, but under the surface trouble is brewing. Gb news news has obtained exclusive data which shows in the last decade the number of spiking incidents in lancashire has. Skyrocketed by 183. Were going out there , were were going out there, were going to intervene. Were going to stop any offences happening. Over the past few weeks, Lancashire Police has been carrying out operation knight guardian. Thats in response to guardian. Thats in response to a major increase in the number of violent and Sexual Offences against women and Vulnerable People in the night time economy. This man seems to have been causing trouble and sensing danger. The officers intervene. Danger. The officers intervene. Weve obviously just seen an incident unfolding there. Tell me what was happening. Me what was happening. Yeah, so at that pub, that gentlemans been banned for something hes previously something hes done previously tonight come down tonight hes come down intoxicated and hes tried to get in with his friends. Theyve let his mates in because theyre fine. But theyve said to him, no, issues in the no, youve caused issues in the past. Not in and past. Youre not coming in and then thats when the problems have started. Hes refused to leave area. Could have leave the area. We could have arrested was being drunk arrested him. He was being drunk and of and disorderly. And the idea of his arresting that offence his arresting for that offence is can nip his behaviour is that we can nip his behaviour in so hell spend the in the board so hell spend the night in the cells in our custody to sober up. So he wont be anyone or be sexually assaulted anyone or causing any fights. Thats the way it as a drunken way i look at it as a drunken disorderly but if hes disorderly offence. But if hes willing to walk and have a willing to walk off and have a good night, well then happy good night, well then im happy to arrested him. And hes to having arrested him. And hes happy he a good night. Happy cause he had a good night. Did seem to have things did seem to have calmed minutes calmed down, but within minutes the was placed under the same man was placed under arrest. Over uk, there arrest. All over the uk, there are scenes like this one on are scenes just like this one on are scenes just like this one on a nightly basis, theres a nightly basis, but theres a dark to britains dark underbelly to britains nightlife. Now lancashire nightlife. And now Lancashire Police are fighting back. Tell police are fighting back. Tell me why were in lancaster tonight. Me why were in lancaster tonight. Right. So were out for operation night guardian. So weve got officers out in uniform and plain clothes and were out there amongst night time there amongst the night time economy, licensees there amongst the night time espeaking licensees there amongst the night time espeaking with licensees there amongst the night time espeaking with the licensees there amongst the night time espeaking with the students1sees there amongst the night time espeaking with the students and; , speaking with the students and the are all out the locals that are all out having a night keeping having a good night out, keeping them violence against having a good night out, keeping them andliolence against having a good night out, keeping them and girls1ce against having a good night out, keeping them and girls is against having a good night out, keeping them and girls is against having a good night out, keeping them and girls is a National Women and girls is a National Issue it is an unfortunate issue. It is an unfortunate statistic that that drunken females vulnerable females may be attacked and that generally is by a male perpetrator. And we is by a male perpetrator. And we need to intervene at the right point to identify that predatory that concerning behaviour that we see out on the streets and get in there before any offences can happen. Can happen. Everyone has the right to get home from a night out, safe. Everyone has the right to get home from a night out, safe. Ali home from a night out, safe. Ali and so moving fonnard, Lancashire Police will be slamming the door shut on anyone who thinks othennise. Sophie reaper gb news thanks for that, sophie. I mean, i think this has got to the stage where its been normalised. I think it goes on andits normalised. I think it goes on and its so regular and it happens to so many people. It used to be people saying, oh gosh, youll never guess what. And her drink spiked, and her drink was spiked, but now regular cause now its like its regular cause thats thing. Thats the thing. Its not just girls that and its not just girls that get affected it. I know that get affected by it. I know that theres horrible incidents of guys being as well , but, guys being spiked as well, but, you your hand over you know, keeping your hand over your youve got to your glass, youve just got to do and dont a drink do it. And dont accept a drink from you dont know. From anyone you dont know. Ideally you know drinks in ideally you know those drinks in bottles for five . My daughter was going shes only five. Was going out. Shes only five. But some in the future, but at some point in the future, i would be saying a bottle so that keep a closer eye that you can keep a closer eye on it rather a glass where on it rather than a glass where someone could slip something in. Absolutely really frightening. Its really frightening. Were going to be returning to that throughout the that story throughout the programme this morning. They dont actively target them. Prime minister rishi sunak will address the house of commons later as mps return to westminster. Hell be setting out the uks response to the escalating conflict and we will be speaking to Armed Forces Minister heappey. Very minister James Heappey. Very shortly about all of the latest in the conflict. In about 15 minutes, net migration is unlikely to fall to pre brexit levels even by the end of this decade. So nothing to going happen in the next seven years. Will this be another conservative promise broken down plus , still to come, broken down plus, still to come, we have paul coyte in the studio with us. Hello. How are we filled up . Hello. How are we filled up . Still to come and here he is. Still to come here. Dot dot, dot. Absolutely. So Rugby World Cup, i mean, it has been a busy and very exciting rugby weekend with mixed fortune. We can. Oh with mixed fortune. We can. Oh goodness. When i say its great, i mean its been terrible but the results but well it was terrible because ireland were deemed to be a better team than england most other as england and most other people as well to lose on saturday and then to lose on saturday night and england to go through to great to great joy. To great to great joy. Its kind of its england are the only Northern Hemisphere team that are now left in the world cup. And if we look back just before the world cup, i mean, its actually worked out this way because of the draw, because the way that its done with the pools, its done a couple years ago its couple of years ago and its done whereas things done on rankings, whereas things change couple of years. Change over a couple of years. So england better then and so england were better then and its now now its wouldnt its and now now its wouldnt its and now now its wouldnt it if england managed it be bizarre if england managed to all the way . I mean its to go all the way . I mean its possible. I mean not beyond possible. I mean its not beyond the realms of possibility. Its unlikely because england were very in their step now as well. You know they think we can actually do this and time to use my favourite sports word isabel which is the big m word momentum. Momentum, of course. How silly of me to think. How could you forget the momentum . Its all about momentum . Its all about momentum. So england beat fiji momentum. So england beat fiji 3024 and they were good. I mean, there was a real worry towards there was a real worry towards the end when fiji scored two tries and it looked as if the momentum then was going to turn towards fiji and what was interesting and i dont know how many people noticed it, but as they, they kicked the conversion, the england team got together, they got into a huddle and then was almost like and then it was almost like right this is it. Its all right now this is it. Its all bust. Weve got to go for it. And a couple of drop goals then from from owen farrell, who is now turned into world hes found form he was getting booed been coming in havent they for him they were and he looked better and it was a very good performance. I mean we can say its only fiji , theres been its only fiji, theres been none of the big guns. But then again, you dont get any bigger guns. And what theyve got to play, which is south africa. Just mentioning south well, just mentioning south africa, of course, they knocked out nation, france last out the home nation, france last night have that was night and have to say that was one the most spectacular one of the most spectacular games rugby that you could games of rugby that you could ever really, since games of rugby that you could eve island really, since games of rugby that you could eve island new really, since games of rugby that you could eve island new zealand since games of rugby that you could eve island new zealand one e games of rugby that you could eve island new zealand one point the island new zealand one point and it was a great, great rugby. Thats the one that would but thats the one that would have a great but have been a great final, but thats a quarterfinal. But again, way that again, thats the way that everythings so south everythings fallen. So south africa england or your africa next for england or your worry for england against south africa, know. Africa, but you never know. Anythings sport anythings possible in sport because it came because england, when it came to cricket yesterday, lost to afghanistan crying out loud. Afghanistan for crying out loud. So anythings possible. Yeah, but. But scotland qualified for euro 2024. They have to spare. They have two games to spare, but they didnt even have to kick a ball yesterday. That was good spain managed to good because spain managed to beat scotland have beat nonnay. Means scotland have qualified that good. Qualified and so that was good. And also wales as well. Great and also wales as well. A great result beat croatia result because they beat croatia yesterday. So that was unexpected. I think. I think its fair to say two its probably fair to say two games. To win games. Theyve got to win though. They beat turkey and though. If they beat turkey and they beat armenia, they will qualify well. Qualify for the euros as well. But they did lose to both. Paul, wouldnt come back paul, wouldnt you come back in i want you to in an hours time . I want you to talk about the Manchester United takeover, the where its at, where its at, whos left in the race. Okay. Okay. No problem. Thank very indeed. A thank you very much indeed. A viral tiktok has unveiled bed bugs roaming around the London Underground. I kid you not a true life horror story. N ext next and right. Joining us to go and right. Joining us to go through the stories that are making the headlines today, former newspaper editor dawn neesom and journalist Benedict Spence. Neesom and journalist Benedict Spence. Very good. Spencer says spence. Very good. Spencer says a spencer, Spencer Spence , a spencer, Spencer Spence, spence. Good man. Okay. So lets do thats another mistake and lets get that done right. Its a day full of mistakes so far. Oh, you can call me whatever you want. Well, theres a former editor. You would be very precise on accuracy, wouldnt youyeah, try to. Yeah. Yeah, i try to. Yeah. Yeah, i try to. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Start dawn with this so lets start dawn with this front page of the telegraph and its the latest of what President Bidens been saying overnight and concerns about what could good and bad happen today. So obviously, theres this imminent invasion, this imminent Ground Invasion, but hopes that in the next but also hopes that in the next 20 minutes or so, we may see the rafah gate opening at least for Foreign Nationals in the gaza strip, among whom many brits would benefit. Yeah, no, absolutely. Absolutely. I mean, were looking for positive shoots anywhere we can at the moment, arent we . Every single front page of all the newspapers, with the exception of im not going to of one, which im not going to mention, various elements mention, have various elements of this. The ongoing horror show that were all facing. Joe biden last night warned israel against reoccupying gaza , but promised reoccupying gaza, but promised the us would send everything it needs to fight hamas. And this needs to fight hamas. And this is the confusion here. The people are blurring the lines between the Palestinian Civilians and the hamas. And we civilians and the hamas. And we saw from the march at the weekend some fairly horrific scenes there, in particular as shocked by the pro palestine marches pro the civilians helping them. But the two women turned up with the images of the hamas hang gliders and the police are now seeking those two women, arent they . Yes. And i just thought that is quite clearly not supporting civilians, that is supporting the horrors that befell those poor people in israel at the. Youve spoken but yet benedict we get israel saying we dont deliberately target civilians on this so dont worry what reassurance would you take from that . I mean, theres only so much that you can take from that because of the nature of how gazais because of the nature of how gaza is built up and also because of the nature of how hamas conducts everybody hamas conducts itself. Everybody knows military knows that it puts its military installations inside schools, inside puts them inside hospitals. It puts them next installations next to un installations specifically, so when specifically, so that when israel does retaliate, it can show the world, look, look how barbaric these are. Look barbaric these people are. Look at the damage that theyre doing. Know, the doing. You know, there was the story that going doing story that was going on doing the people trying the rounds about people trying to flee the north of gaza a couple of days ago that were hit by an israeli airstrike. It by an israeli airstrike. And it turns they might not turns out that they might not have it might have been have been. It might have been hamas booby traps. Well, this is the this is the problem the point. This is the problem is youve got two sides is that youve got two sides of the story. And that sides, the story. And that both sides, frankly, inclined frankly, you are inclined to think, there could some think, well, there could be some truth because the truth in this because the israelis accidental hit israelis have accidental hit people past. But equally, people in the past. But equally, it known that hamas it is well known that hamas keeps people in place to use as human shields, which is precisely took hostages precisely why they took hostages in the first place. Its a barbaric form. Also just underlines, and it also just underlines, surely, how diplomacy has to be the solution in this, because youre be able to youre not going to be able to resolve without killing resolve this without killing civilians. Can be civilians. And there can be absolutely justification. Absolutely no justification. It is get involved, to is illegal to get involved, to involve civilians , isabel. Involve civilians, isabel. I mean, you know, the two state solution , diplomacy, world state solution, diplomacy, World Leaders sitting down and talking the problem you keep coming back to here is hamas dont want a solution. They want to wipe out israel. And also their charter, the earlier version of it, said they want to wipe out all jewish people. So there is no diplomatic solution to terrorism , that level of terrorism. But its trying to find some sort of Democratic Alternative to hamas. Again within palestine. Again, this is a problem. It is something that one does not want to be accused of victim blaming, but one does have to say after this happens and this will happen and it will be awful, Palestinian People awful, the Palestinian People need to understand this is the fourth, fifth, sixth time that this has happened where actually palestinian or Arab Coalition forces israel and forces have targeted israel and they will end up losing, as they always do. And what happens then is territory and they is they lose territory and they say, well, were not going to respect borders because respect the new borders because we territory back. And we want our territory back. And the lesson that has to be taken is germany from the late 19th century middle of the century to the middle of the 20th if keep 20th century. If you keep invading your neighbours and you keep losing, you lose koenigsberg, danzig, koenigsberg, you lose danzig, you lose that land. And after a while be hammered while it has to be hammered home. Is benefit to home. There is no benefit to keep invading neighbour keep on invading a neighbour that you cannot hope to defeat. You lose. That the you will lose. That is the solution. Know, the solution. You know, the egyptians learned this. Egyptians have learned this. They with the they made peace with the israelis understood israelis because they understood well, if you dont do that, youre sinai youre not getting the sinai back. The jordanians have understood it that back. The jordanians have und palestinians it that back. The jordanians have und palestinians are it that back. The jordanians have und palestinians are the it that back. The jordanians have und palestinians are the onlyat the palestinians are the only nation, the group of people nation, the only group of people on for whom keep on the planet for whom we keep on the planet for whom we keep on no, thats fine, on saying, no, no, thats fine, you keep on having another go. And im sure it will work out well and i think well next time. Yes. And i think its important. Ben addict, to highlightjust ben addict, to highlight just how is. How small gaza is. Its Something Like wide. It is Something Like 25km wide. It is Something Like 25km wide. It is so that the israelis could so small that the israelis could notinvade so small that the israelis could not invade with their full armed forces. They actually have to sift them if they if they do invade. And we think thats highly likely today and that they can just go bit by bit. They cannot just charge across that border. And this is this is where the invasion is going to get pretty horrific because , i mean, not to horrific because, i mean, not to sort of just use the Second World War as an example, its going to be a sort of a stalingrad situation where actually its too narrow for troops to move. So its very easy for them to be targeted by small by people with small arms fire, by people with knives, by booby traps. The israelis suffer israelis are going to suffer an awful casualties. And of awful lot of casualties. And of course what hamas wants course, that is what hamas wants because they want Public Opinion at in israel also turn at home in israel to also turn to government isnt to the government isnt conducting properly. Conducting this war properly. Look body are look at how many body bags are coming want the coming back. They want the israeli to turn israeli population to turn around is worth around and say, is it worth actually going into gaza and doing this . Be under no illusions , though, the israelis illusions, though, the israelis are going to do this either way. And is where, as you said, and this is where, as you said, there be questions there are going to be questions around law about around International Law about the bombing. This is why the israelis say israelis do it, because they say it it is not worth the it is worth it is not worth the danger to our soldiers, not to level entire buildings. Also danger that theres also the danger that if there is this land invasion, as has been threatened by netanyahu, then iran has warned that he will retaliate and get involved as well. And suddenly have a much and suddenly we have a much bigger which is why bigger escalation, which is why anthony us Anthony Blinken, the us secretary state , has been in secretary of state, has been in egypt trying to egypt not only trying to negotiate this crossing out through rafah crossing, but negotiate this crossing out throtnow rafah crossing, but negotiate this crossing out throtnow flying ah crossing, but negotiate this crossing out throtnow flying into ossing, but negotiate this crossing out throtnow flying into israel, but hes now flying into israel today certainly west today because certainly the west is absolutely desperate to avoid seeing spreading into a seeing this spreading into a huge regional, if not global war. Who knows where it could iran have already warned, havent they, that fingers are on triggers , basically. On triggers, basically. If you know, if israel and if you know, if israel does go in and by the way, the gaza strip is smaller than the isle of wight. Yeah. And yet sort of like israel are demanding at 1. 1 Million People leave the north of that country. Thats like evacuate the whole of glasgow. What i would say very quickly about the subject of iran and the possibility of hezbollah neither country, hezbollah is neither country, neither iran nor lebanon can actually afford a with israel. Right now, the civilian populations are incredibly destitute. Unhappy. Destitute. Theyre very unhappy. The both hezbollah the militaries of both hezbollah and the very well and the irgc are very well funded, but thats partly why people countries are people in those countries are very and this is why very unhappy. And this is why youre seeing us carrier groups being region being moved to the region because powerful as the because as powerful as the Iranian Forces as Iranian Ground forces are, as powerful hezbollah are in powerful as hezbollah are in terms of their artillery, they dont an air force to dont have an air force to speak, do not speak, and they still do not have very much supply. Have do very much supply. And china is not going to go to war, has been over this region, beijing, to use its influence over iran in all of this. So always have these and so they always have these kind proxies and involvements kind of proxies and involvements of other and so they of other nations. And so they may the funds may not have the funds themselves, that themselves, but we know that china involved. Know that china is involved. We know that russia is involved. And then it suddenly becomes a much, much wider love for the wider china would love for the us get bogged down the us to get bogged down in the region regional war so that region in a regional war so that it cant divert attention to taiwan. But if anything, actually that for that makes the situation for iran or lebanon dangerous iran or lebanon more dangerous because more likely because it makes it more likely that us will say to the that the us will say to the israelis, already have israelis, well, you already have the you already a the bomb and you already have a great force, you do what you great air force, you do what you want. Were not going to stop you because we dont to put you because we dont want to put troops on ground. You troops on the ground. So you do you iranians close to you the iranians are close to having a bomb, but they dont have one yet. That is what have one yet. And that is what really them nervous. Really makes them nervous. And its why seen its probably why youve seen them hold off up to this point. Lets about another war lets talk about another war of is highly insignificant of sorts is highly insignificant in comparison. Nonetheless, of sorts is highly insignificant in givesnarison. Nonetheless, of sorts is highly insignificant in gives aison. Nonetheless, of sorts is highly insignificant in gives a lot1. Nonetheless, of sorts is highly insignificant in gives a lot1. People etheless, of sorts is highly insignificant in gives a lot1. People theless, it gives a lot of people the heebie and that is bad heebie jeebies, and that is bad bugs. Where are they . Where have they now . Britain, they popped up now . In britain, they popped up now . In britain, they have popped up on the London Underground and basically , i think someone i dont know if weve actually got the footage, has taken footage, but someone has taken some the bedbugs on on some film of the bedbugs on on the tube seats. The tube seats. Yes. So and they are invading and but the thing is , bedbugs and but the thing is, bedbugs have been with us for a long time. Theyve been with us as long as weve been around. They have been in the uk. Yeah, have. Theyve just yeah, they have. Theyve just arrived. Its not like theyve just arrived. Funniest part arrived. The funniest part that what so for what makes this story so for great tabloids and lets great the tabloids and lets face it, we all need some kind of distraction at moment. Of distraction at the moment. Theres else going to theres not much else going to on the horrors of on distract from the horrors of israel palestine. Israel and palestine. But the tabloids fun with it tabloids are having fun with it because theyve come from france. And thats the part. France. And thats the fun part. I french and i mean, you know, the french and the brits have always, you know, taken the mickey out of one another. So think these are bad so do you think these are bad bugs french bugs . Bugs or french bed bugs . Theyre french bugs, theyre invading french bugs, french bugs , are the french bed bugs, are they the they ones that in paris they are the ones that in paris have had a. There you go. You can see that footage now. And theyre big, they. Theyre quite big, arent they. You theyre quite small you think theyre quite small these supposed be these ones are supposed to be bigger bed bugs. Right. Right. So the french and theyre bigger. Yeah. Because theyre french and theyve had a large lunch, so just appear appear. Why so they just appear appear. Why dont after. Dont they fall asleep after. Im sorry. Its being very french ish isnt it. But but yeah, you know, yeah, i mean, you know, paris has this infestation has had this infestation and people literally throwing people are literally throwing all on the all their furniture out on the streets to. To get rid of them because very hard to get because theyre very hard to get rid once youve got them. Rid of. Once youve got them. Yeah, but yeah, they of the solution i was reading the solution i was reading over the weekend apparently cocker spaniels of dog. I think thats because theyre at smelling theyre very good at smelling them is what happens. They start in the bed, but actually they can be everywhere. So people who suffer with bedbugs, have have the bedbugs, they have to have the entire dismantled. Every entire room dismantled. Every single furniture. So single piece of furniture. So you in these that are you bring in these dogs that are highly they take highly trained and they can take you infestations. You to all the infestations. I mean, is tedious bed mean, going is tedious bed gross, drastic. Going get a cocker spaniel going to get a cocker spaniel because youve bedbugs, because youve got bedbugs, though, i mean, it though, isnt it . I mean, it could fantastic. Could be fantastic. Whatever it takes. I do whatever it takes. I do whatever it takes. Could be fantastic for the it could be fantastic for the economy. Its going to boost the spaniel furniture spaniel market, the furniture market, everything you could possibly market, everything you could poswhere should we go . Should we where should we go . Should we turn our attention to winter fuel all this . Fuel bills in all of this . Benedict is daily benedict this is the daily mirror page 800,000 miss out mirror page 15 800,000 miss out on with this story. This is that there was £120 million of help government help with bills last winter. With energy bills last winter. Everybody remembers why, of course, russias course, because of russias invasion of ukraine. There was the fear about spiking the big fear about spiking energy bills. There was £150 energy bills. So there was £150 annual warm home discount. Energy bills. So there was £150 annual warm home discount. And annual warm home discount. And thats supposed to be for the poorest people society. But poorest people in society. But as points out, that as the mirror points out, that doesnt an awful lot of doesnt affect an awful lot of people who sort of just miss out on the threshold. And it doesnt take into account the fact that its not going to leave that story there. Weve got secretary of weve got the secretary of state defence, james state for defence, James Heappey, who joins us now. We say good morning to him, mr heappey. Good morning. So heappey. Good morning. So President Biden speaking overnight and basically hes hes saying to his israel i mean , hes an ally of israel, obviously, but hes saying, please be careful all in your ambitions. Where if and when you ambitions. Where if and when you invade gaza , how would you invade gaza, how would you reflect on that . Reflect on that . Well, i think that the British Government has been similarly clear that israel has an absolute right to defend itself. Of course, it does. But so too , is a democracy. Should so too, is a democracy. Should it hold itself to a higher standard and should it and should it be wanting to comply with International Humanitarian law . Yeah, right. Well, i mean that therein lies, you know, the conundrum really, because how do they exercise their absolute right without dragging in civilians. Right without dragging in civilians. In right without dragging in civilians. In the way that we civilians. In the way that we are seeing . I mean, ultimately, people in gaza are saying there is nowhere safe. The united nafions is nowhere safe. The United Nations saying that this Evacuation Order is horrendous, that its impossible, and that, you lots of people now are you know, lots of people now are commentating, that the commentating, saying that the response proportionate. Response is not proportionate. Whats response is not proportionate. Wh well, there is safe well, look, there is safe haven. Israel has been clear that people move south below the wadi and that will put them out of reach of their planned operations. But lets be crystal operations. But lets be crystal clear. Israel is the democra ac clear. Israel is the democra ac thatis clear. Israel is the democra ac that is giving notice to civilians and asking them to move south. It is hamas who uses civilians as human shields and thatis civilians as human shields and that is the key distinction here. Secretary of state, whats british involvement in all of this . Do we have any in what way are we assisting israel in this . Are we assisting israel in this . Well, our involvement is three fold. Firstly we are planning an executing the evacuation of british citizens from the region. Should they wish to leave. There are wish to leave. There are opportunities to do that both from tel aviv, where a number of flights have now departed, but also we hope later today through the rafah crossing on the border between gaza and egypt as well. Secondly we have troops in the region in as well as planes and soon ships. Their presence is to soon ships. Their presence is to guard against a wider escalation of the conflict and to warn off other actors, like for like iran, for example , from getting iran, for example, from getting involved. And then thirdly, involved. And then thirdly, were offering support to israel directly. Now, the nature of directly. Now, the nature of thatis directly. Now, the nature of that is still to be decided. And clearly the Prime Minister will need to consider carefully any requests are made. But we have made the offer and we wait to hear what the israelis need of lis. Us. Us. And youll be aware that senior conservative colleague of yours, crispin blunt, has been warning that the government could well be being complicit in war crimes in the support of israel, in all of this. What is the governments response to that . Because, you know, hes making some pretty serious allegations. He said making some pretty serious allegations. He said uk could be complicit in war crimes. Colleagues in westminster may not be aware of legal peril not be aware of the legal peril that in. That they are in. And yes, i mean , i think that and yes, i mean, i think that we are acutely aware that in a situation like this is we need to be honest with israel about our expectations. But to be our expectations. But to be frank, israel is a democracy. Israel is a responsible actor. They have given notice to the population portion of gaza. It is israel that is trying to get the civilian population out of harms way. It is hamas who is insisting that they remain. But its the United Nations who have said that those notifications are impossible and horrific. But i just want to ask you about what labour have been saying. They think that the uk government should be looking again at their support again at their aid support for gaza. They note that the European Union have tripled their the weekend. Their aid over the weekend. Is that thats being considered . Certainly the prime well, certainly the Prime Minister met with the king of jordan yesterday day and he has had conversations with president sisi well. So and the theme sisi as well. So and the theme of those conversations was humanitarian support to the palestinian population that are caught up between this dispute, between hamas and israel. We between hamas and israel. We will, of course, be seeking to work with partners in the region to support that humanitarian effort. Effort. Right. Whats going on in rafah today . The cross in what are we expecting there and how does that affect british citizens . Citizens . Weve heard that the crossing may open today. Weve heard that the crossing may open today. And if it does, may open today. And if it does, that will be an opportunity for Foreign Nationals to leave. We hope that that happens, but clearly that is not directly within our control. Within our control. I want to ask you about matters here in the uk. Weve seen lots of protests, havent we, over the weekend . And your colleague Suella Braverman coming out and saying that the police come for you you police will come for you if you glorify terrorism. Weve seen glorify terrorism. Weve seen these women with these images of two women with these images of two women with the paragliders , pictures of the paragliders, pictures of them on their back that clearly is expressing support for a proscribed terrorist organisation. How can you organisation. How can you reassure people this morning that the utmost is being done to prevent those sorts of things happening . Happening . I think that it is so look, i think that it is discussed ing what we saw on in those pictures over the weekend and i understand everybody is right to protest. I and i understand everybody is right to protest. I understand everybody is right to have concern over the Palestinian People. I and concern over the Palestinian People. I and the concern over the Palestinian People. I and the british people. I and the British Government have concern over the Palestinian People as well now, but i cannot think of any time when i was a soldier nor now as a minister in defence , where i a minister in defence, where i have ever taken any joy in the loss of human life. Of those that i consider to be my adversaries. And yet what weve seen in these protests over the weekend is people in london doing exactly that. Now there are entitled to their opinion about the plight of the palestinians. They are not entitled to celebrate the work of hamas, a proscribed terrorist organisation. And i think that those scenes were absolutely sickening and im sure the police will want to act on them. Okay. Secretary of state, i. Im full of admiration for you this morning, soldiering on with that, nick, that youve got that shaving shaving cut. I really. Shaving shaving cut. I really. Sariego aemon. And i have been despairing as the clock has ficked been despairing as the clock has ticked down for the interview. But there we go with live television. I had one myself this morning andits i had one myself this morning and its so embarrassing. And you were so gracious the way you were dealing with it there maybe Something Like vaseline or something on top of it might help. It might help. I want to get quickly i just want to get quickly before let hes got they got before we let hes got they got some thats very some vaseline. Thats a very good just hearing the good idea. Im just hearing the last moments, mr ipp, that last few moments, mr ipp, that us, the israel and egypt us, the us, israel and egypt have agreed a ceasefire in Southern Gaza, which will begin at 6 am. Gmt, which will coincide with reopening of the rafah Border Crossing. This is according to two Egyptian Security sources. Meanwhile, hamas media say they have no information about any humanitarian truce being agreed. Just your reaction to that breaking line. First of all . Well, i think that that matches our expectations that there is a discussion ongoing about the option to open the rafah crossing. But as i said in rafah crossing. But as i said in my answer a minute or so ago, it is beyond our control. And so i dont want to pretend that we have any certainty that it will happen. Clearly it is something that we hope will happen today and that will give an opportunity for people to leave and for some aid to flow in. Well well give you an opportunity to leave, apply your vaseline and sticking plaster , vaseline and sticking plaster, whatever it takes. Really appreciate your concentration and what youve had to reveal to us today. Had to reveal to us today. Secretary of state for defence James Heappey there. Thank you very much. Yes , well, we will have more yes, well, we will have more for you on that situation in the middle as weve been middle east as weve been saying, of developments saying, lots of developments overnight. The first night in some time, there havent been any airstrikes into israel, but talk of progress on a talk now of progress on a humanitarian corridor. Talk now of progress on a humanitarian corridor. Reporter Charlie Peters is live in tel aviv throughout the program for us. Charlie as the situation in gaza declines further , President Joe Biden further, President Joe Biden says it would be a big mistake for the israelis to occupy the territory in the last few hours, an Israeli Defence force spokesperson has said half a Million People have already left northern gaza for the south and repeated that the Israeli Military does not actively target civilians. British Prime Minister rishi sunak will address the house of commons this afternoon to set out the uks response. Back at home. Net migration is unlikely to fall to pre brexit levels even by the end of this decade. Will this be another conservative promise broken . Promise broken . And the weather went a bit chilly over the weekend. Jonathan vautrey good morning. Its a week of two halves, starting off relatively fine and settled but wetter and windier conditions arriving later. So or you can tweet at. Gb news. So. Another busy news program for you this morning dominated by the ongoing gaza israel conflict and lots of breaking lines in the last few moments, including from the secretary of state, antony blinken, has said antony blinken, who has said that rafah crossing will all that the rafah crossing will all reopen. That the rafah crossing will all re0jso. Is a that the rafah crossing will all re0jso. Is a big diplomat so this is a big diplomat breakthrough. There had been lots this to lots of appeals for this to happen for western happen in order for western citizens in get citizens trapped in gaza to get out. And the hope is that as a result, some humanitarian aid can also in. It doesnt mean can also get in. It doesnt mean that any or palestine that any gazans or palestine liens be able to exit. As liens will be able to exit. As far as we know at this stage. But we are waiting for confirmation and more of those details. But a big a diplomatic coup, frankly, between the us, israel and egypt. So that means concern , so that means concern, obviously growing for the welfare of palestinian citizens in gaza after ten days of bombing by israel at any moment, a Ground Invasion could get undennay. The Israeli Military undennay. The Israeli Military continues its war on the terror group hamas, which crossed the border into israel last weekend, killing 400 israelis. Well, the Foreign Office has advised all british nationals inside gaza to move closer to the border with egypt, not an easy task, given what the situation is on the ground there, but it is believed that around half a million gazans have now evacuated to the south, wherever you are in the region, conditions are worsened by the hour with water, food and power being cut off by israel. Although i believe water has been reinstated in parts of the south. Lets find out the very latest. Our reporter tom sullivan reports on the crisis inside gaza. You may find the content of some of this report disturbing. Disturbing. Northern gaza has fallen eerily silent after another night of deadly bombing. Now the night of deadly bombing. Now the only thing falling from the sky are thousands of pamphlets containing a message from israel. Evacuate to the south immediately. And so they did. Immediately. And so they did. For many, the threat of more of israels bombs and impending invasion. In response to the terror attack which killed more than 1400in israel, outweighs orders from hamas to stay put. Orders from hamas to stay put. Hundreds of thousands fled south on whatever could carry them cars. If there was fuel horse and cart, if one could be found. But many turned to their own feet. But not everyone is feet. But not everyone is leaving. This doctor and his leaving. This doctor and his staff at this Childrens Hospital say they simply cant evacuate. Evacuate. Fahad al makaan if we want to kill us, kill us while we continue working here, we will not leave. Not leave. We need days and weeks to secure another place. Unfortunately there are no empty nurseries in these difficult conditions. The situation is really dangerous. I tell you that transferring these children from this place means handing them a death sentence. They will die. And this equipment only die. And this equipment only operates of electricity and oxygen nearby. Oxygen nearby. The Al Shifa Hospital continues to receive a flow of bodies pulled from the rubble of bombed neighbourhoods. This bombed neighbourhoods. This doctors here say the hospital is ovennhelmed with civilians, the injured and the orphaned. Where do these children go now . Do these children go now . Foreign nationals have been told to head to gazas border with egypt. To head to gazas border with egypt. But as they arrive there, egypt. But as they arrive there, there was no escape here. Those with european and american passports can only wait for the gates to be opened. Among them, gates to be opened. Among them, mariam and her mother, who travelled from their home in the uk to gaza to visit family every every time i just have to have the thought of me dying in a bomb in gaza like its not a good thing. Like every place i go, i go run away and i just find bombs and i find dead people and like, maybe one day ill end up like them. But its a really scary them. But its a really scary thing for me. Thing for me. Israel has ovennhelming support by the eu. The uk and the United States over its right to defend itself and eliminate hamas , a terror group that has hamas, a terror group that has inflicted unimas reasonable suffering and bloodshed on the country. But such messages of country. But such messages of support have increasingly come with a warning to retaliate within International Law and to protect innocent Palestinian Civilians. Civilians. Were hearing from Egyptian Security sources. Theyre saying that america, israel and egypt have agreed to a ceasefire in Southern Gaza. Hamas saying it Southern Gaza. Hamas saying it has no information about this truce and if it has been agreed , truce and if it has been agreed, it is believed this is to allow aid in and Foreign Nationals out into egypt. More on this. Lets go to Charlie Peters, whos there in tel aviv for us this morning. Charlie. Sold a lot of morning. Charlie. Sold a lot of hopes in the last couple of days. First, they were told that there would be a safe corridor for them to travel down from north gaza into the south and then, of course, there are explosions on convoys and blockades preventing their safe exit. Then yesterday, we heard that the Israeli Energy minister had secured Water Supplies into south gaza , but no such reports south gaza, but no such reports of incoming water have been received. And then also this rafah crossing, this entry, ports into egypt. There have been several occasions now where reports of it being opened following diplomacy have been made , but then its remained made, but then its remained closed. Now, this could be the closed. Now, this could be the most significant opportunity for that crossing to be open and several foreign embassies in the region have urged their nationals to head to that crossing to get into egypt and away from excuse me, the violence , as we do know last violence, as we do know last night, that some 600,000 people have now moved from north gaza into the south of the gaza strip. And this is going to be necessary ahead of the idf continuing their operations from air, sea and land with a comprehensive effort from the land ahead of that imminent invasion. Ian, they need to invasion. Ian, they need to shape the ground even further with airstrikes if they are going to be able to move into that densely populated area. But that densely populated area. But last night, President Joe Biden, he said that it would be a big mistake for the israelis to occupy the territory. On the occupy the territory. On the israeli side, however, they say theyre not looking to occupy just destroy hamas military capable entities. The last time they entered the gaza strip in 2014, they were there for 50 days. But its well expected that this this invasion, if and when it does come and it does look highly likely, will be significantly longer. Significantly longer. And charlie, just in the last few moments im seeing on reuters this morning that israel has now activated its evacuation plan for 28 villages within a mile of the lebanon border. Obviously serious concerns there. We saw shelling coming into israel from lebanon over the last few days just elaborate on that a little bit for us, if you will. Sure. Well, this morning we had confirmed reports of deaths on both sides of the northern region. The Israeli Defence forces, they lost an officer from an anti tank guided missile fired by Lebanese Hezbollah yesterday. And in the in the yesterday. And in the in the southern lebanon area, we have also seen airstrikes and artillery fired by the israelis , artillery fired by the israelis, hitting hezbollah outposts , hitting hezbollah outposts, observation areas and military establishments. This conflict there has escalated in the last 24 hours. What started as occasional skirmishes and artillery fire reached the point yesterday when Apache Helicopter gunships from the israelis were flying up this coastline here. We saw them heading north in to order target and engage hezbollah positions. And this comes within the last 48 hours as irans foreign minister met with the Political Leadership of hezbollah in lebanon, where they said that all options were on the table. They are clearly observing whats happening in gaza very closely. And iran has reiterated that if the assault on gaza continues, it will be forced to act. Its likely that that means that hezbollah will fire many more munitions into northern israel. And while the northern israel. And while the israelis face a significant foe in the south, in the north, they are facing even more, even more danger with hezbollah, a more significant military force. Yes. Significant military force. Yes. Okay, charlie, got to leave it there. In an interview with cbs in in the usa, President Biden last night says us that he believes. What does he believe . Believes. What does he believe . Somebody tell me there is still a path towards a separate palestinian state. He said hamas , the terrorist organisation behind the needs to be eliminated first and that israel understands that a significant portion of palestine people do not share the views of hamas and hezbollah. So joining us now in hezbollah. So joining us now in the studio, James Marlowe , whos the studio, James Marlowe, whos a jewish commentator and Foreign Affairs analyst. So a lot of this news just just coming in. What are you picking up on . What are you hearing from your sources . Well, firstly, thats a really good rundown. What we just heard from charlie pretty much the gaza rockets have much on the gaza rockets have been from from been coming in now from from gaza israel. But few gaza into israel. But only a few around the gaza prolifer is what they a lot of those they say. A lot of those commuters, communities in the southern israel have been evacuated and the theyve moved up to the centre of the country in jerusalem and various other places. Again, as charlie just said , several communities from said, several communities from the north have been removed. One the north have been removed. One thing id like to pick up is Anthony Blinken, because hes had a really Important Role in the last few days and hes the us secretary of state, which means hes basically Foreign Affairs for america. Foreign minister. Foreign minister. Exactly. And on the orders of exactly. And on the orders of joe biden, he came to israel a few days ago. He actually really showed his solidarity, gave a speech which i thought was really good at the press conference from his heart. And i was very impressed with it. Very much because didnt look much so, because it didnt look like he was speaking from notes. He really spoke his heart he really spoke from his heart on that took he really spoke from his heart on just that took he really spoke from his heart on just over that took he really spoke from his heart on just over athat took he really spoke from his heart on just over a week ok he really spoke from his heart on just over a week ago in place just over a week ago in israel. And now since that time, he has travelled to six arab countries arabia, qatar , countries saudi arabia, qatar, the uae, bahrain , egypt and the uae, bahrain, egypt and jordan and the reason why hes done that and to meet with the leadership over there is because this can flare up, as im sure weve been speaking about for the last few weeks. I say we gb news into a massive middle east conflict. You have and conflict. You have iran and syria and have all of the syria and you have all of the shiite groups in iraq, syria, which was controlled by iran. Now the potential for this to overflow was that iran simply pushes that button and everyone starts to converge on the northern Israeli Border, i. E. Syria, and specifically lebanon. Thats where youve got hezbollah. When you say everybody , how when you say everybody, how many . What sort of figure would you put on that . Well, its really difficult to put down on figures, but a lot of people that have to be rehomed. In terms of the oh, in terms of the population if the if population. Well, if the if theres a front which is open up on the northern Israeli Border , on the northern Israeli Border, i. E. Hezbollah backed by iranian troops, also Shiite Militia groups , terrorist groups from groups, terrorist groups from iraq and syria , and even perhaps iraq and syria, and even perhaps from yemen , the houthis from from yemen, the houthis from yemen, all converging to southern lebanon. Then then southern lebanon. Then then youve got that invasion. So thats the job that Anthony Blinken did , just to make sure blinken did, just to make sure that all of these countries that ive just mentioned have no part in and will do whatever in this and will do whatever they can to stop the movement they can in to stop the movement of terror groups to move of these terror groups to move over to lebanon. Now, if that happens , then israel is just happens, then israel is just focussed now down on gaza. And so far that seems to be a positive move. And Anthony Blinken is coming back in this morning to speak to netanyahu to give him an update to and give him a briefing as to what the current feeling is from the arab gulf states. And theyve been working around the clock, havent they, to about the to try and bring about the ceasefire the south gaza. Ceasefire in the south of gaza. Hell very to be able hell be very pleased to be able to announce that that crossing will also be reopening. Just explain of that explain the significance of that crossing because the crossing into egypt, because the egyptians much egyptians have been very much resisting alien resisting palestine alien refugees into their refugees coming into their territory there. Okay. As far as im aware, with western Foreign Nationals dual citizen nationals or dual citizen nationals or dual citizen nationals out that way, nationals getting out that way, an now going in, thats the an aid now going in, thats the reopening. But as far as im aware at the the aware at the moment, the Palestinian Civilians still going to find it hard to get out. Is that the correct reading . We dont know. And the egyptians, from their point of view, are really concerned for their security. The reason their security. And the reason i say is because that in say that is because that in february 2016, the israelis gave full control of the rafah crossing over to the egyptians. Crossing over to the egyptians. So this was something which was never expected to happen because when the peace treaty took place in 1978, 79, can david won. It was on the basis that the Egyptian Forces would never move except for maybe 100 would never move north of the northern part of the sinai. What happened was of the sinai. What happened was you had a group called the ansar beit maqdis, which is a group which allied itself with hamas and also with the isis group. Now they meant sent many of their people through tunnels from egypt into gaza, but at the same time, they also shot down hundreds of egyptian troops in the northern part of sinai. This concern, obviously, the egyptians very, very much they shut down all of the tunnels. Shut down all of the tunnels. They bombed them. They managed to get rid of a lot of this group. Some of the group went into gaza itself and then israel handed over for security for the rafah crossing to the egyptians. Rafah crossing to the egyptians. Now, the egyptians, based on that history and recent history in the last few years of losing so many of their citizens and their soldiers, theyre really concerned. Anyone who leaves gazais concerned. Anyone who leaves gaza is a potential terrorist and will attack the egyptian walls. So thats the reason why they theyre very careful as to how they open when they open, whos going to come through. And obviously, theyre under tremendous pressure right now. And also whos going to look after them . And also whos going to look aft well,n . And also whos going to look aft well, we believe that that well, we believe that that Border Crossing was due to open at 7 am. Uk time this morning. So well keep you posted as i have no word yet as to whether it has opened or not. Charlie was just giving us an update over there at and also with regard to the water, i understood the water had been turned in Southern Gaza to turned on in Southern Gaza to encourage the palestinians to move down there because you have water. But weve just heard from charlie that to the best of his knowledge, it has not come on yet. Okay, jim, well appreciate that. James marlow is a Foreign Affairs analyst and a jewish commentator. Thank very much commentator. Thank you very much indeed. Friend. Predictions indeed. My friend. Predictions by migration observatory. We by migration observatory. We have found that the number of people moving to the uk will not fall below 300,000 a year for the rest of this decade. Yes, these figures mean immigration numbers to the uk would remain the same level as before the brexit referendum, and this is despite the Prime Minister calling last years figures too high. Foreign secretary is on the foreign secretary is on peace watch in the balkans today. Hes attending a summit in albania aimed at maintaining stability in that region. Stability in that region. Executive director of migration watch uk, dr. Mike jones joins us now. And mike, politically, this is terribly bad news for well, whoever is going to be the sitting government, particularly the conservatives, who have said that getting migration down is a main aim for them. Main aim for them. Yes, indeed. And i have enormous respect for the authors of the report. Madeleine sumption and alan manning. They both try to approach the issue in the most dispassionate way possible. But actually, i possible. But actually, i believe there projections are overly optimistic. Look, id be overly optimistic. Look, id be surprised if the net migration figures came below 300,000 simply because they assume that student emigration will remain at around 80. But Robert Jenrick has said that the number of people staying here long term is around 40. And he gets that that data from the database. There are also assumptions about asylum levels remaining the same asylum levels remaining the same as they are now. But i would question that. But but, mike, when you say student migration at 80 and other migration at 40, are you talking about of the 300,000 figure is because if you are talking about that as an overall figure that surely is not as frightening as these headlines suggest , laced with the sort of suggest, laced with the sort of picture that people will conjure up as the type of illegal migration that is happening. For instance. Well you know, instance. Well you know, obviously theres a difference in terms of Human Capital between legal student migration and irregular migration in. But i actually think the levels of illegal migration could increase. And youve got could increase. And youve got to remember the conservatives are unlikely to win the next general election. The labour general election. The labour party have said they will not support the rwanda plan. They support the rwanda plan. They will water down the illegal migration act and essentially theyve theyve embraced a sort of quasi Resettlement Programme with the eu and given whats happening across the mediterranean , the bosphorus mediterranean, the Bosphorus Strait and the balkans , as the strait and the balkans, as the number of Illegal Migrants entering the uk could actually increase , as although labour increase, as although labour would deny its any sort of quasi quota with the eu. Again, weve asked them that specific question and theyre always at pains to say that is not in their plan. You would dispute that, would you . Dispute that, would you . Yes, i would. Yes, i would. Quotes from other members of the labour party are pretty much confirmed that theres some sort of deal with the eu in place. Of deal with the eu in place. And you know, ultimately the eu is not going to accept a returns programme from the United Kingdom unless theres a quid pro quo element to it. And if we do enter into such an arrangement , then obviously arrangement, then obviously well be receiving more Illegal Immigrants than the people we send back simply because of what happened under the dublin rules when we were a member of the eu. That was weighted very much against the interests of the uk and as a non eu member, we would have considerably less leverage. Okay. Dr. Mike jones, well leave it there. Mike is the executive director of migration watch uk. Coming up, were going to be asking whether the government should abandon the renters reform bill. Your views welcome and well be debating it in just a your take on milkmen and theyre on their way back big time , thanks to millennials who time, thanks to millennials who are green conscious about this 2000 household a week, 2000. Thats a lot are signing up for a daily milk run to reduce their Plastic Waste at. See, i think that makes great sense. Bottles are the way fonnard for everything and i still dont understand why anyone buys bottled water. Thats a real bugbear of mine. If i see someone walk around with a bottle water, privately bottle of water, i privately think water at the weekend think i got water at the weekend in a paper carton. There you yes the well, there you go. Yes the hotel was staying in. Hotel i was staying in. So replied bottles or so replied not bottles or plastic to your room, but bottles and cardboard. Cant they just give you something that you can wash and reuse because you still have a footprint from that . Still okay. We digress. We dont digress. Sorry. This is a very important. We digress. We digress. But anyway, the we dont. But anyway, the point this you know point about this is do you know how much a bottle of milk costs and looking at the notes. And stop looking at the notes. I cant read that far. I cant read that far. Dont worry. I was just trying see tree you were trying to see what tree you were barking okay. How much does barking up. Okay. How much does a bottle milk cost . Oh, gosh. A bottle of milk cost . Oh, gosh. Well, how big is it . Pint. Well, how big is it . A pint. A pint milk. Pint of milk. I was about to say £0. 70. Sure. Sure. My daughter says that. Thats what i was going to say. I was going to say is what . I was going to say is what . You could one. We had you could have one. We had milkman like that when i was growing but £0. 78 in the growing up but £0. 78 in the shops. However cheaper if you buy the milkman, then buy milk from the milkman, then it costs 1. 71. So whos going to do whos going to do that . Right . Whos going to do that . Right . Whos going to do that . Right . Whos going to do that . Are you doing that . What you think about that . What do you think about that . Give give us a shout. Now give us a give us a shout. Now were going about were going to talk about renting. Prime minister renting. The Prime Minister has been charities, not been urged by 30 charities, not to abandon legislation that would no fault evictions. Would ban no fault evictions. All of this comes as Research Suggests that one renter is ordered to leave their home every and the ordered to leave their home every of and the ordered to leave their home every of charities and the ordered to leave their home every of charities has\nd the ordered to leave their home every of charities has written group of charities has written to the Prime Minister to warn that are deeply concerned that they are deeply concerned about lack of progress in about the lack of progress in passing renters reform bill passing the renters reform bill into , even though was into law, even though it was promised in tory manifesto. Promised in the tory manifesto. Now ago. Now four years ago. Oh. Oh. Oh. So should the government abandon renters reform bill . Abandon the renters reform bill . Joining us to debate star joining us to debate this star of channel fives nightmare tenants, landlords paul tenants, slum landlords Paul Champlin , who has also founded champlin, who has also founded landlord action. Hes joined by reem ibrahim , communications reem ibrahim, Communications Officer at the institute of economic affairs. Very nice to see you both. Paul, first of all, could you explain to me what a no fault eviction is . A no fault eviction . A no fault eviction . Eamonn is a two month notice, a landlord can serve on the tenant without giving a reason to say they want their property back. To say they want their property back. At the moment, i can say back. At the moment, i can say with my landlord action hat on, ive never seen so many landlords serving the notice because they want to sell. They want to get out of being a landlord because of all the things that are happening. Correct me if wrong my friend. Would that not suit you if you were a renter as well and say you were hitting hard times with cash or you wanted to move on somewhere . Yeah. On somewhere . Well, yeah. 90 of renters leave i mean, 90 of renters leave of their accord and. Eamonn of their own accord and. Eamonn so theres rent arrears, so when theres rent arrears, normally youd use another procedure which is going to court a possession court and getting a possession order order. So you can order or money order. So you can try and claim back the rent arrears. Lot of landlords use arrears. A lot of landlords use section 21 when theyre is rent arrears, also youre still arrears, but also youre still Getting Councils that are telling to stay put telling tenants to stay put so they can rehoused by the they can be rehoused by the council. There is of council. There is a lot of unintended consequence. Youre at very youre looking at this very much a landlord much from a landlord perspective, even though just last that renters last week we heard that renters are biologic physically last week we heard that renters are morejiologic physically last week we heard that renters are more rapidly physically last week we heard that renters are more rapidly than ically ageing more rapidly than ordinary people because of the stress caused by it. And weve seen serious dramatic increase in how much were having to pay in how much were having to pay in rent as well. Why should we feel sorry for landlords . Im actually saying that this bill is bad for everyone , bill is bad for everyone, tenants and landlords. So ultimately this is an amalgamation of increased regulations on landlords. Were talking about them not being able to require a blanket ban on pets for whatever reason , on pets for whatever reason, on a blanket ban on children as tenants. Were talking about huge amounts of regulations that are burdensome. Were also are burdensome. Were also talking about the fact that they now cant increase rent as a result of this bill if its to be implemented, except for only once a year. Now, of course, we saw Interest Rates go 12 saw Interest Rates go up 12 times since 2021. There are huge amounts of reasons why landlords want to push up these rents. Now, fundamentally , the costs now, fundamentally, the costs are going to be pushed onto tenants. If we want to see rents across the country reduce house pnces across the country reduce house prices reduce, weve got to be thinking about this within the wider the housing wider context of the housing crisis. Thats the only solution crisis. Thats the only solution is to build more homes and allow for there to be even more choice for there to be even more choice for tenants. And indeed, those people that want to end up buying properties. Buying properties. Well, look, i want to ask you, both of you, because every debate do on housing comes debate we do on housing comes down to the same thing. There down to the same thing. There are homes. Can you are not enough homes. Can you briefly tell im going to ask briefly tell me im going to ask both of you why there are not enough what is the main enough homes. What is the main form to them . The form of resistance to them . The main form of resistance is unfortunately nimby. Its the local. We call them not in my backyard is local councils local Residents Councils and local residents that are effectively lobbying in order restrict and stop the order to restrict and stop the amount of houses that are being built. The huge built. Theres also the huge amounts burdensome amounts of burdensome regulations effectively regulations that effectively mean that the supply of housing is restricted. Now its economics 101. You increase economics 101. If you increase the anything, prices the supply of anything, prices will come down. We need to be building more homes and ultimately to the ultimately its up to the government to the government to reform the planning okay thats the answer. A nswer. Answer. I hear all the time. Paul, why doesnt it happen . Why doesnt it happen . Well, weve had numerous governments say theyre going to be all 300 400 even, keir be all 300 or 400 even, keir starmer said its going be starmer said its going to be 1. 5 million. I mean , where 1. 5 million. I mean, where planning massive problem, planning is a massive problem, youve also got an issue now with finance and Interest Rates. With finance and Interest Rates. You know, developers have slowed up land up from building their land banking well. And of course, banking as well. And of course, you know, we have an issue with first time buyers. Its to going continue going on and on. I suppose doesnt help. Suppose what doesnt help. Eamonn more housing eamonn weve had more housing ministers youve had hot ministers than youve had hot dinners that does not help. Dinners. That does not help. Yeah, thats true. Yeah, thats true. But tell me this, you yeah, thats true. Bu do tell me this, you yeah, thats true. Bu do you tell me this, you yeah, thats true. Budo you think|e this, you yeah, thats true. Bu do you think that s, you know, do you think that landlords should have right landlords should have the right to with children to refuse tenants with children or if they want well or pets if they want to . Well i think in this day and age , think in this day and age, refusing a tenant whos on benefit or one children cant happen. I mean i think economically whats happening now isabel is 25 tenants on average are going from one property. If the biggest problem that you have is also there is the argument with regard to abolishing section 21. More landlords are going to be more resolute when it comes to referencing. So if youve got a tenant or a professional couple that four, five, £600 that are paying four, five, £600 a month more than housing a month more than a housing benefit are benefit tenant, who are they going know, going to go for . You know, i think having pets in a property, i think its actually really for good a tenants Mental Health and a landlord can ask and a tenant, a landlord can ask and a tenant, a landlord can ask a take out pet a tenant to take out pet insurance. Represent insurance. And i represent a Company Called deposits. Company called my deposits. Which the biggest deposit which one of the biggest deposit schemes actually pet damage schemes and actually pet damage dispute is very minor at the end of tenancies. Im sorry. This is ridiculous. Its their property , for its their property, for goodness sake. Theyre able to a landlord should be able to require any anything that they wish to any restrict property and ultimately the damage and the cost that they are going to be factoring into their into their rental prices. This bill will only increase rents. It will only increase rents. It will only increase rents. It will only restrict the amount of supply for those individuals and ultimately it will hurt tenants. Well, think, know, well, i think, you know, youve tenant youve got 30 tenant organisations representing tenants, shelter and generation. Every single renter in this country and ask them what they think. I dont think you would have done that either. No, course i havent. No, of course i havent. No, of course i havent. No, of course i havent. No ones got the time to poll with 11 million tenants, have they . Paul, saying that all paul, youre saying that all these these tenant these all these tenant organisations this organisations want this bill . Im there are huge im telling you, there are huge amounts unintended amounts of unintended consequences result this consequences as a result of this bill hurt renters. Bill that will hurt renters. A doubt, hurting without a doubt, its hurting renters look at renters at the moment. Look at the rate. I mean the the interest rate. I mean the average property in london is renting £2,300 a month. Its renting for £2,300 a month. Its endless good things are endless good things that are coming the renters reform coming out. The renters reform bill theres going bill is that theres going to be a portal that the a property portal so that the property going be property is going to be compliant landlords be compliant and landlords will be part scheme. Its part of a redress scheme. Its about raising standards and actually that actually making sure that tenants to be renting tenants are going to be renting in suitable, decent properties. Two agree on something . And that is everybody seems to loser on all of this. To be a loser on all of this. Landlords are losing, their tenants are losing. Yes, agree tenants are losing. Yes, i agree. Absolutely. I think the solution, and i think the solution, again, increase supply of again, is to increase supply of housing. Must build more housing. We must build more homes. Would on the homes. And i would call on the government actually say is government to actually say it is fundamentally pertinent fundamentally be pertinent that the government then look at the supply supply issue and actually reform plan. Reform the plan. Well, they tried recently, didnt they . But that meant damaging water quality. Damaging the water quality. And these of regulations. But its an old argument rallying the nutrient neutrality regulation again, mean, regulation is again, i mean, a drop the bucket compared to drop in the bucket compared to the swathes regulations the huge swathes of regulations guys supply. Think you agree there well, i think you agree there on something and not sure on something and im not sure what, but very good. Is a that builds more homes. Right . Builds more homes. Yes. Sampliner and reem yes. Paul sampliner and reem ibrahim , thank you both very ibrahim, thank you both very much indeed. Much indeed. Were going to take a look now at some of the other stories coming into the newsroom this morning. Criminals morning. And foreign criminals could entirely could avoid prosecution entirely and instead face immediate deportation under new government plans. Its attempt to solve plans. Its an attempt to solve the crisis in our the overcrowding crisis in our prisons, which currently holds 10,500 foreigners. Were speaking to our Political Editor, Christopher Hope, about that story little bit later on that story a little bit later on in programme. In the programme. A diabetes screening trial for opened in for children has opened in northern ireland. The programme, which aims to identify those at high risk of developing type one in the future, has been described as the first of its kind for the uk. Type one diabetes is a serious and lifelong autoimmune condition , lifelong autoimmune condition, one which affects almost 9000 people and that is just in northern ireland. And the English National opera is in chaos this morning. The music director has quit in protest at what he calls severe cuts. The company said 19 posts were being cut and the remaining musicians would be employed on part time contracts. The row is centring on an announcement by Arts Council England last year that the opera would lose 100 of its £12 million funding unless it moved out out of the capital. Oh oh. So theyre being forced to move out of the capital or they get their funding cut for that. Have you ever been to see any engush have you ever been to see any English National opera . Ive seen lots of ballet at the royal opera house, but ive actually been to the actually never been to the opera, so im probably part of the id be the problem because id be devastated it suffering. Devastated to see it suffering. But that was about ballet, wasnt wasnt opera. Wasnt it . That wasnt opera. That the opera, wasnt it . National ballet. Oh dancing. National ballet. Oh dancing. English national opera. The English National opera. The English National opera. Oh. Oh. So its often the ballet is often at the opera house or whatever they do, theyre doing it. Theyre not be doing it. Not doing it at the theyre not doing it at the moment. Paul coyte is doing everything my everything sportswise, my friend. Have got on friend. What have you got on this morning . Well rugby, this monday morning . Well rugby, we mention the semi we better mention the rugby semi finals coming up then of the Rugby World Cup which happened at the weekend. After everything, so england after everything, after all, how everything after all, how bad everything is. What disaster. Suddenly is. What a disaster. Suddenly good of a sudden. Yes you good all of a sudden. Yes you know its looking okay. The only Unbeaten Team in the world cup that are left, although lets face it, everybody that england have played , we could argue with have played, we could argue with the fact it hasnt been quite the fact it hasnt been quite the some the other the quality of some of the other teams. But by the time it gets to saturday, south africa, the holders and thats going to be tough. Tough. Kates outfit, theyre and on kates outfit, theyre so you just lit up when you saw her there . I think she did all white was she matched the rugby team. See what i did there . Yeah she did all white. She matched the team but she also matched the team as full kit. Was in full kit . Shes was she in full kit . Shes a shame that her hubby and son couldnt do better for wales on saturday. They turned up support, they turned up in support, didnt prince wales. Didnt they . Prince of wales. I know, but the thing is does he is. Its tricky because youve got anne will got Princess Anne who will support scotland then youve support scotland and then youve got Prince William support scotland and then youve got be Prince William support scotland and then youve got be wales. rince william support scotland and then youve got be wales. Do ce william support scotland and then youve got be wales. Do youilliam support scotland and then youve got be wales. Do you reckon will be wales. Do you reckon this does he feel then this part how does he feel then about would he be the about england . Would he be the only wales supporter that would want win . Only wales supporter that would waryeah, win . Only wales supporter that would waryeah, im win . Only wales supporter that would waryeah, im sure win . Only wales supporter that would waryeah, im sure viplenty yeah, im sure theres plenty of wales supporters who seek, you the only you know, secretly the only northern left Northern Hemisphere team left in the world cup. As you point out, we all have to get behind england. If only things were well, if only things were that all ireland that easy. I mean, all ireland fans will will be supporting england, fans will will be supporting engright. Right. Eamonn yeah, yeah. New zealand versus argentina. New zealand versus argentina. So the thing is, the quarterfinals, which were so close so tense and we look close and so tense and we look at against south africa at france against south africa yesterday and also the ireland new game. These are new zealand game. These are worthy. All worthy of worthy. Theyre all worthy of finals , but its at the finals, but its at the quarterfinal stage. Semi finals, if youre looking from the outside side, you say its outside side, you would say its going theyre both going to be pretty sided. South pretty one sided. South africa against sorry, but against england. Im sorry, but we know. We dont know. Maybe be in the maybe it wont be in the final springbok versus no. When i say one side, i think england will thrash south africa at 48 nil and new zealand. At least 48 nil and new zealand. I think new zealand will be argentina. You know what . Argentina. Well, you know what . Anybody that and anybody would look at that and say against south say new zealand against south africa will be in the final. But springboks, knows . Well all springboks, who knows . Well all look the weekend. Look fonnard to the weekend. So you are on you never know. Things are on the turn. What do you know about the Manchester United takeover . Jim ratcliffe has well, sir Jim Ratcliffe has been scene for quite some been on the scene for quite some time was man behind time and he was the man behind ineos , british billionaire. Hes ineos, british billionaire. Hes wanted part of Manchester United for quite some time. Weve known that the glazers have had it up for sale. Theres been so many different this has been going on for years now, so many different bids. Weve had the qatari bid as well , which is Sheikh Jassim as well, which is Sheikh Jassim bin hamad al thani, which would have been a complete buyout. It would have been, although we now have heard that hes pulled out. So he said hes not interested anymore. Leave, sir Jim Ratcliffe, he ratcliffe, although he wants a complete buyout, which it looks like hes going to happen. At the were looking the moment, were looking at 25, although its. What do you mean it looks like its going to happen. He has to wait five years or something. I dont know. See this is hes saying that, you know, we want to take care of the whole football but if football operation. But if youre minority youre a minor minority shareholder 25, how can you shareholder at 25, how can you then do that unless theres something going on Something Else thats going on that know about it. But that we dont know about it. But that we dont know about it. But thatis that we dont know about it. But that is plan is that he will that is the plan is that he will take over. So its i think were talking i mean, were obviously talking i mean, were obviously talking in billions because they wanted around 6 billion. Yeah £1. 3 billion is going to change hands for 25 of the club. So then the next stage, whenever thats going to be, well have to see. But he wants a complete takeover to happen and thats what we expect to happen at the ironman world championship. Yes, something that i will the ironman won can be by an iron woman, cant it . It is. I know. It is. I know. Once you finished your five k couch or whatever it is, couch to five, k to five k, which was, which was couch at the weekend anyway, there was no, theres a lot rugby, it was pure, it lot of rugby, it was pure, it was lot of rugby. Was a lot of rugby. So ive had work to do. So the man, i mean this is the iron man, i mean this is incredible. Theres a woman, lucy charles barkley. Charles barkley is obviously a famous basketball player, but her name is i dont is lucy charles barkley. I dont know. There are. Know. There there we are. Theres her after, theres thats her after, obviously swim. So this is obviously the swim. So this is how it works. The 2. 4 mile how it works. The man, 2. 4 mile swim and then followed by a 112 mile bike ride there. Shes in the bike ride. Then followed by a marathon 26. 2 miles. So so it took her eight hours, 24 minutes and three seconds. And shes the world champ. Thanks. Two and a half miles in the water. Sound quite easy. That just bit. That just bit. Just a warm up. I dont know whether i change the order. You know what i mean . Maybe have swim aftennards because have the swim aftennards because then maybe so then maybe, maybe relaxed, so exhausted drowned. Exhausted they could drowned. Oh, oh, yeah, thats true. Yeah. So maybe get that out of the way. Unless. Unless youre allowed water wings. Think regulation wings. I dont think regulation is. Yes, dont think is. Yes, i dont think regulation. Water wings. Regulation. Water wings. Know have to wear water wings. What the what. Yeah. Because they have those swim. They still have those swim. Can you never learned you not swim . You never learned to no to swim . No really, i did my three kilometres when i was eight years old. Yeah did you have the stripes. Youre a fish. Youre a fish. Youre a fish. You have the stripes. Did you get the stripes . There was yellow stripe there was the yellow stripe was for the width. Then there was for the width. Then there was a purple one for 25m. Then there a white one for there was a white one for a length and then there was the three one. How do you do three length one. How do you do things because did things like that . Because i did it, and also there it, i remember. And also there was the see, youve even missed out the brick in out on diving for the brick in your pyjamas. Did you never dive for the brick in your pyjamas or in your jeans . What about aquaman . Who was aquaman on tv . Youre not talking about Patrick Duffy. Youre not talking about pat i ck duffy. Youre not talking about pati amruffy. Youre not talking about pati am talking patrick i am talking about Patrick Duffy. Patrick well duffy. Patrick duffy. Well done. And webbed. Had webbed and he had webbed. He had webbed fingers, before he fingers, didnt he, before he went . Went into dallas . Called aquaman . Was he called aquaman . Was he called aquaman . Aquaman wasnt he. Was. Aquaman wasnt he. He was. Aquaman wasnt he. He was. Was nights. He used to be, he was nights. He used to be, yeah. Used to be on those yeah. He used to be on those webbed fingers and then he would. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Bobby from dallas. That was him. Very much indeed, him. Thank you very much indeed, my there, okay . I okay . I dont blame you. I dont blame you. So the princess of wales was seen celebrating the England Rugby. Saw there, that rugby. As we saw there, that will featured the headline will be featured in the headline makers will be featured in the headline maiand also going to take and were also going to take a i believe, at some live a look, i believe, at some live pictures now coming into us of the rafah into egypt. The rafah crossing into egypt. Hearing this weve been hearing this breaking morning that breaking news this morning that that or that crossing has reopened or will do shortly. Anthony blinken making that announcement. You can see people queuing there. Can see people queuing there. But see in the last few but i see in the last few minutes just on reuters now, israel has denied the gaza humanitarian truce undennay to allow foreigners out. They allow foreigners out. They appear to deny it. Apparently half an hour after security sources in neighbouring egypt say that the deal was due to be implemented. So im afraid continuing chaos and confusion on that Border Crossing. Well keep a close eye on that and well be back ijust i just want to say thank you to everybody whos pointed out isabels mistake before the break and calling the man from atlantis. Aquaman, not guilty. She said it. I didnt i it. I didnti didnt it. I didnt i didnt even know really what aquaman is. So it cant be guilty. So it cant be guilty. So it cant be guilty. So lulu barry, i love listening to eamonn and paul reliving the past of old times and making my morning. They are so funny and like two big kids having a great time. Thank you for brightening my morning just for brightening my morning just for two minutes. Thank you. And thank you to all. Man from atlantis fans. There are lots of corrections on right there. On that right there. Can read this one really can i read this one really quickly . Then well get into the papers. Yvonne says, i live in lancashire i a milkman. Lancashire and i have a milkman. Yes, but the milk is only £0. 70 a that article was a pint. So that article was wrong. They were saying was wrong. They were saying it was a pound. Well not according the pound. Well not according to the daily josh in the daily star and meg josh in the daily star and meg josh in the daily who says milk daily star, who says that milk from milkman costs £1. 71 per from the milkman costs £1. 71 per litre and on average compared to £0. 78 in the shops. Well , not according to well, not according to yvonne. And she says she gets eggs as well as butter all from her milkman. Fresh from the local farm. In the morning, six farm. At 530 in the morning, six days a week. Theres an advert, im guessing she doesnt where guessing she doesnt live where meg north london. Meg lives in north london. Doesnt sound like it, but anyway, clinking five in anyway, clinking at half five in the morning. Its lovely. The morning. Youve ely. The morning. Youve been up for hours by then. This is dawn neesom here. This is dawn neesom here. And this is Benedict Spence and theyve got the newspaper for morning. Dawn for us this morning. And dawn suella protesters Suella Braverman says protesters who celebrate hamas will feel the full force of the law. And theyre not just celebrating mass. Thats the atrocities. Yeah. No, this is our this is yeah. No, this is our this is the marches that took place mainly london the weekend. Mainly in london at the weekend. They supporting palestine they are supporting palestine and happening and whats happening to palestine and civilians, but also there were people there who appeared to be supporting hamas. We saw pictures of 2 2 women wearing images of the paragliders going into the dance in the desert where people were massacred, pinned on their jackets. And suella is saying that we will not tolerate this and the police have launched an urgent appeal for information about these particular women. About these particular women. And benedict and i were talking about this just now during the break. Its supporting Palestinian Civilians. Absolutely fine. No problem. Everyone should be doing no one wants to see any people wants to see any more people massacred. Is an massacred. However, there is an air of anti semitism about what happened at those marches. And happened at those marches. And it is almost the one form of racism, not just in this country, but across the world, that people find somehow acceptable. Well, and i just acceptable. Well, and i just cannot understand how, if it was any other religious group or race, you people would come out and say this is wrong, this is wrong. The only people that appear to be saying this is wrong are the jewish people. Well, i do really think we need to guard against conflate ing people are there ing people who are there genuinely supporting palestinians. Everybody. Palestinians. And not everybody. Was wearing those kinds of things. And i think there is a legitimate argument that people are affected in this country by whats in as whats happening in gaza as well. And they have the right to demonstrate and express their concerns it. Was well, concerns about it. It was well, it small minority, but as it was a small minority, but as dawn says, a minimal dawn says, it takes a minimal excuse people to come out excuse for people to come out and condemn people all and condemn jewish people all all the time. Theyve they have to and theyve got they have to have much security their have so much security on their places their places of worship, their schools. You know, i had schools. I mean, you know, i had this school. Mean, i hear this at school. I mean, i hear people talk about not being able to their tie or their to wear their tie or their badge. That was just regular for me. Growing belfast. Me. Growing up in belfast. Friend in well, my friend lives in north london. She is jewish. Her little boy goes to a jewish school. The school school. And before the school was and locked was closed and locked with security on it. Hes ten security guards on it. Hes ten and he was frightened go and he was frightened to go to school. You try school. Yeah, and you try explaining. Look, this is nothing compared to what is to going children palestine going the children in palestine and the children israel and the children in israel at the a little boy in the moment. But a little boy in north try explaining to north london, try explaining to him that the whole situation in the he just the middle east and he just thinks to kill thinks people want to kill him. Benedict, have you got benedict, what have you got to on this . To say on this . It is a dawns, right . Again, it is a dawns, right . This itjust again, it is a dawns, right . This it just it veers this is where it just it veers straight away into anti semitism, into racism, because awful lot of because actually an awful lot of israelis, sorry, of jewish people in the if you talk to people in the uk, if you talk to them, they sort of them, they are not sort of uniformly in favour of israel. There a complex group with there are a complex group with very political views , very complex political views, but of the matter is, but the fact of the matter is, after in after hamas attacked people in the south of israel, before israel reacted to it, there was a spike in anti semitic hate crime in london. And thats what were sort of dealing with here. Its not a question of are you pro israeli, are not . People pro israeli, are you not . People look to look for opportunities to attract jewish communities around the fact that around the world. The fact that we have to have security at jewish schools in britain in the 21st century is staggering to me. In berlin over the weekend, people went around painting styles of david on buildings where they knew that jewish businesses were based. People live germany this. How live in germany in this. How its staggering to me and again johnis its staggering to me and again john is right people find Different Reasons to get away with this sort of thing. And its i know that it is a prejudice that it sort of transfer ends political ideology , religious ideology. But it is revolting. And i know also on the subject specifically of Suella Braverman saying if you are demonstrating in favour of a terrorist organisation , you know terrorist organisation, you know were going to come down hard on you. Some people have suggested that this sort that this is sort of favouritism. It isnt. A favouritism. It isnt. Its a disgraceful thing that anybody can support banned terrorist can support a banned terrorist organisation and expect anything other arrested other than to be arrested imprisonable with a maximum penalty of 14 years. So think those two girls so i think those two girls may find themselves in a lot of trouble, rightly so. Trouble, rightly so. So benedict, theres a story in the metro scratching in the metro and im scratching my to really understand my head to really understand this, but this is a family who have been in lockdown since the first lockdown in march 2020. Why this is because i think many members of the family have very serious medical conditions and so cant or wont risk interacting with people for fear of getting covid. So ill just read this from rob boxhall says that his wife, mandy, is in remission, having been diagnosed with blood cancer in 2019. And with blood cancer in 2019. And their 31 year old daughter has said aural palsy and they havent been to leave home havent been able to leave home since lockdown. Now since the first lockdown. Now whether this is official whether or not this is official royal guidance, im not sure. Royal guidance, im not sure. But i imagine that this is something that is its a reality for a lot of people across the uk who have sort of predisposed, who are predisposed to different conditions, people who have genetic conditions, cancers , is genetic conditions, cancers, is that covid will have sort of really touched upon a bit of a nerve, even as the rest of us have been able to sort of go back into society, whether or not you can expose yourself to something know, something that is, you know, its now that is sort of in its now that it is sort of in the general population, we have vaccines for it isnt as vaccines for it. It isnt as deadly it used be. But deadly as it used to be. But thats to say that isnt thats not to say that it isnt a problem anymore. And, you know, a lot of people in life do have to sort of take these precautions account, precautions into account, that if pick up Something Like if you do pick up Something Like this, life or death this, it can be a life or death situation. You know, these are very specific examples. But people, haemophiliacs people, you know, haemophiliacs people with all kinds of different cancers at risk. Different cancers are at risk. And when these new sorts of diseases come about, yes, the average person the street average person in the street might from a vaccine. Might benefit from a vaccine. They after they might be fine after a couple months of years. But couple of months of years. But actually people it just actually a lot of people it just adds new level of jeopardy to adds a new level of jeopardy to them. Them. Oh, seamless link there. Oh, seamless link there. Oh, seamless link there. Well, ive not. Well, ive not. Doo doo doo doo. Doo doo doo doo. Name that tune. Name that tune. Thats name that tune. Thats the blue peter from the show blue peter, which was a childhood staple of. Staple of. Well it would have been for me. It would have been for you. Me. It would have been for you. I presume you grew up watching Anthea Turner on there. And did you . And did you . Yeah, well, its been going for 65 years and it hasnt stopped. Thats the thing. So each generation has blue peter generation has their blue peter presenters they . I mean, generation has their blue peter pres know, they . I mean, generation has their blue peter pres know, where they . I mean, generation has their blue peter pres know, where iszy . I mean, generation has their blue peter pres know, where is it . I mean, generation has their blue peter pres know, where is it now . Ran, generation has their blue peter pres know, where is it now . It|, generation has their blue peter pres know, where is it now . It is you know, where is it now . It is in trouble, evidently. Bbc really couldnt even tell you what channel its on. It on bbc still, but im it is on bbc still, but im not quite online itll be online. Yeah. Yeah. Not sure if its sort im not sure if its on sort of like on on. Its on the bbc channel. So the childrens channel. So the childrens channel. Why im not channel. So thats why im not aware it. Even if you dont aware of it. Even if you dont have small children. I couldnt tell who presenters even tell you who the presenters even are evidently its, are now, but evidently its, its celebrating its 65th, 65th birthday but three birthday today. But three presenters have quit within the last 14 and basically last 14 months. And basically there is a rumour that the its come to the end of the road. Its not really relevant for todays. You know, i dont even know if its ever to be relevant. Denied it. If its ever to be relevant. Denied it. You if its ever to be relevant. Denied it. You know my kids have denied it. You know my kids have never watched it i admit and i would love them to watch it but they find themselves gravitating towards Something Like netflix and theyll stick on american stuff because you dont find any british kids material on there. British kids material on there. And its addictive and it hooks them in. If it was easy, you know, i dont know. I just dont know, i dont know. I just dont know if can compete in the know if it can compete in the modern market with all this other in. Theres other stuff coming in. Theres so other channels. But so many other channels. But i think its so think its really sad. Its so wholesome , full of creative wholesome, full of Creative Recycling and all the rest of it. I used to love it. I mean, john noakes was one of my presenters and i always he was the one that climbed up nelsons column, wasnt he . And as a kid, ijust column, wasnt he . And as a kid, i just wanted go and climb i just wanted to go and climb nelsons column. Mum it nelsons column. Mum said it probably good probably wasnt such a good idea, did that like idea, but he did that like literally harness, just literally with no harness, just literally with no harness, just literally climbing up a ladder. So for them has changed. So for them it has changed. Then it encouraging to get so for them it has changed. Then it and ncouraging to get so for them it has changed. Then it and do uraging to get so for them it has changed. Then it and do stuff1g to get so for them it has changed. Then it and do stuff and, to get so for them it has changed. Then it and do stuff and, and get so for them it has changed. Then it and do stuff and, and sort out and do stuff and, and sort of like, you know, have an outdoor life, you know, go out on your go and explore the on your bike, go and explore the countryside, etcetera. On your bike, go and explore the cour i ryside, etcetera. On your bike, go and explore the couri havent etcetera. On your bike, go and explore the couri havent watched etcetera. On your bike, go and explore the couri havent watched it etera. On your bike, go and explore the couri havent watched it forrra. But i havent watched it for a long and i dont know, are long time and i dont know, are you going go and seek it out later. Yeah. Yeah. My niece sort of like, you know, grew up watching american tv ended talking like an tv and ended up talking like an american star. American tv star. What . Like what . Like what . Thats true. No, thats true. No, thats true. But i choose the last bbc presenter for a khalife. Oh yeah, right. Yeah, yeah, right. Have say goodbye to we have to say goodbye to you, dawn and benedict. Thank you, dawn and benedict. Thank you very much. Well have more from both of them isabel webster. Heres whats leading the news this morning. Join me later for all the details and the big question answered by paul coyte today. It wasnt aquaman, it was the man from atlantis. Man from atlantis. Yes. Patrick duffy. Yes. Patrick duffy. Patrick duffy. Patrick duffy. Patrick duffy. Absolutely. Webbed fingers have a little sport as well. Tale of two world cups in the rugby. Well, against all odds, england are through to the semi finals and in the cricket world cup, probably against all odds afghanistan odds as well. Afghanistan managed beat england for the managed to beat england for the first time in a webbed fingers. Yes, i know a girl with webbed feet. So do i. So do i. Is she a good swimmer . Not me. My best friend has webbed feet and ive never understood why she didnt get the snip. You just snip them. You just snip them. Does she swim well, though . No. She is a good athlete. Do you imagine, natalie, its a more common than you would imagine. Is it really . Yeah so it wasnt just that he came from atlantis. Maybe he wasnt from atlantis. Maybe he wasnt from atlantis. Had atlantis. She just had those webbed dont how webbed feet. I dont know how common webbed fingers, webbed hands right. Common webbed fingers, webbed har but right. Common webbed fingers, webbed har but feet. Rt. But webbed feet. But webbed feet. But is the webbing yeah, but is the webbing right right at the top of the right up right at the top of the toes . Wow. Bad. Yeah well, if you not bad. Yeah well, if you can send pictures off your can send us pictures off your webbed feet this morning, we would views gbnews. Com. Gb views gbnews. Com. Okay. Our top story this morning is the scene at the gaza egypt border, the rafah crossing , border, the rafah crossing, where there are hopes that that border will or will it should have been opened in the past houn have been opened in the past hour, palestinians with dual nationality and are trying to get through there on palestinian passports. The us secretary of state said the border will reopen , raising hopes for many. Reopen, raising hopes for many. But the gates were hearing those gates are still closed. Yes correct. The gates , as we yes correct. The gates, as we believe, are still closed. Believe, are still closed. We have put in place in egypt, has put in place a lot of Material Support for people in in gaza. And rafah will be will be open. Were putting in place be open. Were putting in place with the United Nations, with egypt, with israel , with others. Egypt, with israel, with others. The mechanism by which to get the assistance in. Right. This is where it all gets a little bit complicated because earlier this morning, egypts Security Services announced a us, israel and egypt ceasefire in Southern Gaza. But this has subsequently been denied by israel and by hamas. Denied by israel and by hamas. Theidea denied by israel and by hamas. The idea was to get millions of people out. Hamas saying that and they, of course, control gaza, that nothings been agreed and that the ceasefire is not happening. Okay. Well, amid all that okay. Well, amid all that confusion over whether there is indeed a ceasefire, there is growing concern for the welfare of millions of palestinians in gaza after ten days of bombing by israel. And at any moment, as we know, a Ground Invasion is also expected as the Israeli Military continues its war on the terror group hamas, which crossed the border into israel, killing 1400 israelis, ten days ago, its believed around half a million gazans have evacuated to the south, but conditions in the region are worsening by the houn food and power has been cut off by israel. Water supplies have been switched on in some areas. Areas. So as you can areas. 50 as you can see, a so as you can see, a developing picture this morning. Tom sullivan has a report now on the crisis inside gaza and a warning you may find some of the content of this report disturbing. Northern gaza has disturbing. Northern gaza has fallen eerily silent after another night of deadly bombing. Now the only thing falling from the sky are thousands of pamphlets containing a message from israel evacuate to the south immediately. And so they south immediately. And so they did. For many, the threat of more of israels bombs and impending invasion in response to the terror attack which killed more than 1400in israel, outweighs orders from hamas to stay put. Outweighs orders from hamas to stay put. Hundreds of outweighs orders from hamas to stay put. Hundreds of thousands stay put. Hundreds of thousands fled south on whatever could carry them cars. If there was fuel , horse and cart, if carry them cars. If there was fuel, horse and cart, if one could be found. But many turned to their own feet. To their own feet. But not everyone is leaving this doctor and his staff at this doctor and his staff at this Childrens Hospital say they simply cant evacuate. They simply cant evacuate. It. Can it. Can it. Can if you want to kill us killers, while we continue working here, we will not leave. We need days and weeks to secure another place. Unfortunately there are no empty nurseries in these difficult conditions. The situation is really dangerous. I tell you that transferring these children from this place means handing them a death sentence. They will die. And this equipment only operates of electricity and oxygen nearby. Al Shifa Hospital continues to receive a flow of bodies pulled from the rubble of bombed neighbourhoods. This. Doctors neighbourhoods. This. Doctors here say the hospital is ovennhelmed with civilians. The injured and the orphaned. Where injured and the orphaned. Where do these children go now . Foreign nationals have been told to head to gazas border with egypt. But as they arrive there, there was no escape here. Those with european and american passports can only wait for the gates to be opened. Among them , gates to be opened. Among them, mariam and her mother, who travelled from their home in the uk to gaza to visit family every every time. I just have to have the thought of me dying in a bomb in gaza like its not a good thing. Gaza like its not a good thing. And like every place i go, i go run away and i just find bombs and i find dead people and like, maybe one day ill end up like them. But its a really scary thing for me. Thing for me. Israel has ovennhelmed showing support by the eu , the showing support by the eu, the uk and the United States over its right to defend itself and eliminate hamas , a terror group eliminate hamas, a terror group that has inflicted unimaginable suffering and bloodshed on the country. But such messages of country. But such messages of support have increasingly come with a warning to retaliate within International Law and to protect innocent Palestinian Civilians. Civilians. Is now the Prime Minister is expected to reiterate the uks total condemnation of these hamas attacks and set out the governments approach to what he terms as a developing crisis. That will happen in the house of commons this afternoon. Commons this afternoon. Well, at least 17 british citizens are missing or confirmed dead following those attacks. Ten days ago. And James Cleverly, the foreign secretary is due to use an International Summit in albania to further rally support for israel, where all our reporter Charlie Peters, hes on the ground. Hes in tel aviv. And lets go there and speak to him. Charlie hello there. Hello charlie hello there. Hello yes, well, in the last hour, we heard again, unconfirmed reports that the rafah crossing had opened and as has been the norm in this area and that hope was immediately squashed by more news coming in that the israelis rejected that such a ceasefire crossing had been achieved and that there will no there will not be a crossing in exchange for the exchange of prisoners and also for humanitarian aid being enter being able to enter into the gaza strip. This comes at a particularly precarious time in the situation because in the gaza strip, the un says that the gaza strip, the un says that the humanitarian situation is untenable, that the spectre of death looms over gaza. But at death looms over gaza. But at the same time as well , it feels the same time as well, it feels as though israel is starting to lose the information war there is more and more global concern andindeed is more and more global concern and indeed condemnation for the ongoing blockade of gaza and the failure to bring in urgent humanitarian supplies and allow Foreign Nationals and palestinians to exit through that rafah Border Crossing. That rafah Border Crossing. Yesterday, we had reports from the Israeli Energy minister saying that a deal had been agreed with the us, israelis and the egyptians to allow water suppuesin the egyptians to allow Water Supplies in the south of gaza. They need this not to only sustain life there, but also to give people reason to move from the north to the south as they have ordered them to do. Ahead of that likely invasion. However no such reports of water suppues no such reports of Water Supplies restarting have been achieved. So israel is struggling to put across the message that it needs to do what it is doing. Weve heard the idf spokespeople saying that , well, spokespeople saying that, well, why would you feed someone in their kitchen when they are launching missile from that kitchen . At the same time, kitchen . But at the same time, people are suffering in their hundreds of thousands at least 600,000 have fled from the north and israel really needs them to leave that area before they can launch further , more severe launch further, more severe bombardments. That likely bombardments. And that likely Ground Invasion. Okay , charlie, thank you for okay, charlie, thank you for your analysis. Want to bring your analysis. I want to bring in now former chief executive of the assembly and the National Jewish assembly and foreign analyst james Foreign Affairs analyst james marlow. Welcome back to the program. Just interesting analogy, charlie was making there why feed there about why would you feed somebody kitchen thats somebody in your kitchen thats firing children arent firing missiles . Children arent firing missiles . Children arent firing missiles . Children arent firing missiles out of gaza, are they . Because its they . Thats why. Because its under it is under International Law. It is illegal to involve civilians in this way. And certainly serious this way. And certainly serious concerns expressed un concerns expressed by the un about this siege and the cutting off of electricity, fuel and indeed so theres indeed water. So theres a number of things that charlie just said over there. Unpack some of lets try and unpack some of them. Firstly, as i understand it, israel does have control it, israel does not have control of inside of gaza, of anywhere inside of gaza, especially Southern Gaza. Excuse me egyptians control me. The egyptians have control of rafah border. Now, i was of the rafah border. Now, i was looking over at the israel broadcast last main public broadcaster called khan. They said initially that they would agree to the temporary ceasefire there seems to be some type of a confusion now. You see this all the time in all the sorts of conflicts all over the middle east and indeed all over the war. One says one thing, war. One side says one thing, well, the other side get well, the other side doesnt get the message. Theres the message. Then theres confusion with third party. Confusion with the third party. Then youve got Anthony Blinken coming got the coming in and youve got the leaders different arab. Leaders of these different arab. And whats happening leaders of these different arab. And now. Whats happening leaders of these different arab. And now. Ithats happening leaders of these different arab. And now. It will happening leaders of these different arab. And now. It will happrtheg right now. It will be in the coming hours itself out coming hours sort itself out because exactly what coming hours sort itself out becauplace exactly what coming hours sort itself out becauplace with actly what coming hours sort itself out becauplace with regard vhat coming hours sort itself out becauplace with regard to it coming hours sort itself out becauplace with regard to the takes place with regard to the water. Israel water. The reason why israel said it was going to turn back the water to Southern Gaza, it was encourage the civilians the water to Southern Gaza, it wa get encourage the civilians the water to Southern Gaza, it wa get downjrage the civilians the water to Southern Gaza, it wa get down there. He civilians the water to Southern Gaza, it wa get down there. Butivilians the water to Southern Gaza, it wa get down there. But once1s to get down there. But once again, were hearing that hamas are taking off their military uniforms and theyre blending in, which what was expected in, which is what was expected with the civilians. Now, with some of the civilians. Now, this is whats concerning the egyptians side, egyptians on the other side, because they want them to because they dont want them to come into their area. So there is a huge amount of confusion, but it will unravel within the coming hours and certainly in the days. There is the coming days. But there is obviously huge problem, a huge obviously a huge problem, a huge problem with people running to the south. But again, i have to refer back because charlie is right that israel is losing that pubuc right that israel is losing that public Public Opinion. So therefore , im just going to say therefore, im just going to say once again , nine, ten days ago once again, nine, ten days ago there was a horrendous attack and we still have israelis announce it. They believe its 126 hostages being held somewhere inside of israel. These hostages ranged from six months old, six months old to holocaust survivors, just over 90 years old. Now, james, have a listen to our next guest and see if you comment on his story. And id like to introduce everyone now to arad hagai. And arad has lived in london for the past 16 years. Hes an israel and hes got family missing. And this was after our last saturday morning. Your aunt and your morning. Your aunt and your uncle, your uncle god, and your aunt judith went for a walk and they lived very close to the gaza border , very close to the border. Them they just both in the 70s, they just every every morning they like to get up early, go for a walk. And they just went for a walk, as usual, about half, six at about 10 to 7. About half, six at about 10 to 7, they send a text to the kids, to my cousins. Listen, we under a rocket attack. We have to find a rocket attack. We have to find a cover. But everybody didnt know the area. Its a flat area. Its very hard to find any kind of hide and then after about ten minutes, they send a text to the kibbutz, to the kibbutz security guard. Listen judy was sending it , got in. My guard. Listen judy was sending it, got in. My uncle guard. Listen judy was sending it , got in. My uncle got guard. Listen judy was sending it, got in. My uncle got wounded by terrorists. They came with a motorbike from gaza. He got motorbike from gaza. He got badly wounded. Im wounded, too. Badly wounded. Im wounded, too. Please send us a help. And there is only one ambulance like bullet proof in the kibbutz. But one of the first. First thing they done, the terrorists. They they done, the terrorists. They just burned the ambulance. No yes. And they burned. So they think was that ambulance was deliberately targeted . Probably. They knew everything. And since then we everything. And since then we didnt hear a thing. We dont didnt hear a thing. We dont know where they are. Sunday know where they are. Sunday morning , basically monday morning, basically monday morning, basically monday morning , when it was clear morning, when it was clear people start to look for them. The army start to look for them. Volunteers nobody knows. And herein lies the hugely complex resolution to all of this , resolution to all of this, because if there is this land invasion , youll be extremely invasion, youll be extremely concerned about your loved ones in case they are in there in gaza. A yes , but but we have to gaza. A yes, but but we have to we have to remember that this is a very small community, about 400 people. And about 100 people, 25 to 30 are dead. Ben, people, 25 to 30 are dead. Ben, they they cut the gas. They burned the houses. They cut the pipes. They they they rape, kill babies. And god knows, just horrible stories and looting. Horrible stories and looting. They took credit cards. They took tractors. They took everything , anything they can. Everything, anything they can. Dear god. So you dont know where god and judith are . You think there is some rumours . Think there is some rumours . Maybe there is a weak signal of my uncle got phoned from gaza on saturday. Were not sure. Everything is on the air. We dont know where they are. Terrible. You do know is terrible. You do know is i want to talk this way. I want jamess opinion as well. Tell me jamess opinion as well. Tell me about your daughter at school. About your daughter at school. Well, now were talking about london here, right . Yeah, right. Yeah , yeah. Its happened a yeah, yeah. Its happened a couple of times in the past. In the last week. Again anti semitism. You know, she anti semitism. You know, she been. She been called. Oh i wish. Last week. Oh, i wish your uncle is dead. Theyre never going to find him. I wish hes in gaza. Hes dead. Whos saying this . She goes to a mixed school. Does she . Yeah, shes going a mixed yeah, shes going to a mixed school. We never send them to school. We we never send them to a jewish never. Yeah. A jewish school. Never. Yeah. Shes she. She can be shes english. She. She can be jewish. Doesnt shes jewish. It doesnt matter. Shes english. Im english now. English. Yes, im english now. Im even though its im british. Even though its engushis im british. Even though its english is not my mother tongue, but my but im english. Yeah and my wife born here and there is wife was born here and there is no reason why to not send them to. Of course. Of course. School. F m school. Is amongst the but there is amongst the school this influence. School there is this influence. This the this feeling. People who want to taunt her over this. Who want to taunt her over this. Yes. But i have to say that the school itself is dealing with very, very good. And but its not the first time. Its shes been called last year. Shes been called an anne frank. Shes been called an anne frank. She she go back to the gaza chambers. And i made i made with her a for my grandparents family from the holocaust that some of them survived. Some of them them survived. Some of them murdered in the holocaust. I made i took pictures. I made i made i took pictures. I made i made a presentation to understand whats whats happened. But i dont understand. And i was talking about this to some people at the weekend and they asked me this question, which i couldnt answer. I have many jewish friends and many people raised their colour. Their creed doesnt jewish doesnt matter to me. Jewish people like irish people are very like irish people. Family people. Theyre very family orientated and whatever. And friday dinner and all that friday night dinner and all that sort of thing and i just want to know from you, people were saying to me why, when something happens, do people love to hate the jews . Why why are you understand what im saying . Understand what im saying . Of course i of course i understand. Ill tell you something as an israeli, because israel was was basically supposed to be a safe haven for the jews. And i grew up in a kibbutz in and my grandmother was born in lithuania. And she always told me, listen , when always told me, listen, when i when i moved to europe, listen, you dont know in europe. Its something in the in the sometimes its happened all the time. You have to be careful. Time. You have to be careful. And i couldnt believe her. And now i dont understand what the connection between kill and innocent jewish people in israel then the solution of the palestinian problem. Its not going to solve anything. The going to solve anything. The only thing its going to happen. Its bloodshed from both sides. Innocent people. Id like to ask james the same question and forgive the bluntness of it, but there is an impression that a lot of people dont need much of an excuse to disagree or to, as i put it, hate jewish people. Look all you have to do is look on some of the social media platforms, x in particular is just horrendous. The hate did the video. Why . The hate did the video. Why . Why . Why . Why . And theyre doing exactly, exactly what weve just been told as well. Theyre laughing at it. Theyre saying its not true that no muslim would ever kill somebody. Theyre making up to say that it was all lies. And youre seeing this on so many different accounts. You know, the twitter or excuse me, its now called formerly known as now called x, formerly known as twitter. That had twitter. They said that they had took hundreds of hamas took down hundreds of hamas accounts. Not because accounts. Theyre not because i know at least 7 or 8, which are specifically on behalf of the Hamas Organisation and theyre still tweeting out stuff and they have a huge large following, hundreds of thousands and more joining every single just it clear, not just to make it clear, im not just to make it clear, im not just talking about i mean, can just talking about i mean, i can understand say understand people who say theres maybe indiscriminate bombing gaza or whatever. Bombing of gaza or whatever. Understand i i understand that. I understand certain understand why for certain situations there would be anger directed towards the israelis. But i just mean in general, there is an underlying current of anti semitism. Yes. Of anti semitism. Yes. And there always has been. And its growing. And you can see this from the cst, the Community Security trust, that their figures are growing and because this is likely to continue you not for days. Continue you not for days. Probably not for weeks. I mean, were looking at because it doesnt look like israel is going to give up. Its objective of taking gaza to rid hamas of its of its presence over there and this could go on for six months plus. Well arid i really hope you with god and judith, i hope you with god and judith, i hope we get some good news very soon. Its an awful thing that youre having to live through with this. Thank you. And actually, we need to give credit to the Prime Minister who has over the weekend condemned what he called shameful, anti semitic ism spreading and spreading online and on britains and i do just britains streets. And i do just want to update because i think it important , want to update because i think it important, infant gaza it is important, infant gaza Health MorningHealth Ministry this morning outlining deaths outlining the number of deaths of civilians far in all of of civilians so far in all of this. 2750, including more than 500 children. And 9700 wounded. 500 children. And 9700 wounded. Its a terrible picture emerging from the region , talking about from the region, talking about pictures, live pictures coming in now from the border. This is the scene at the gaza egyptian border near the rafah strip, where there are hopes that that border will reopen shortly. It hasnt reopened yet. Palestinians with dual national ality and are looking for more aid from the United States. The us secretary of state has said the border will reopen and raising hopes for many. But the gates are still closed as of now. And meanwhile in the last few minutes, israels Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu has denied reports of a ceasefire to allow foreigners out of south gaza and denied a humanitare an aid effort to come. Denied a humanitare an aid effort to come. In okay. Other matters now, migration here in the uk will not fall below £300,000 a year. 300,000. Sorry people a year for the rest of the decade. And this is legitimate migration. This is students and people who are coming here for work reasons and whatever. And these are the predictions of what is called the migration observatory. The migration observatory. Yes. So it means immigration numbers to the uk would actually remain at same level as remain at the same level as before. The brexit referendum, despite the Prime Minister calling years too high. The foreign secretary, meanwhile, is on peace watch in the balkans today as he attends a summit in albania aimed at maintaining stability throughout that region and where a lot of these migrants are coming from. Lets get the latest from our Political Correspondent, olivia utley olivia. Utley olivia. Hello. Yes, it is a bit of a hello. Yes, it is a bit of a mixed bag for the Prime Minister in this report from the migration observatory today. On migration observatory today. On the one hand, migration is set to fall from where it was last yeah to fall from where it was last year. Last year it reached a record high of 606,000 people, which rishi sunak said was too high. Over the next few years, the migration observatory is expecting it to go down because were expecting to see lots of students who came over here in a peak after the pandemic to return to their home countries and were also expecting to see fewer migrants coming in from hong kong and ukraine. But it is looking less and less likely that the uk will ever reach that target of getting migration down into the tens of thousands. And the reason for that is quite simply because of work visas. People are coming over here to work and the uk is unable or unwilling really to turn them away because there simply arent enough people in the uk willing to do certain jobs. For example, in the health and social care sector, last year there were 12,000 work visas for the health and social care sector alone. And social care sector alone. Suella braverman has said that she would like to see that figure go down. But until uk residents are trained up to do those jobs , until they show those jobs, until they show willing to do those jobs, it willing to do those jobs, it will be very, very difficult to get that number of work visas down. And so in the short to medium term, migration is set to stay at about what it was before the brexit referendum. So around 300,000 people a year. 300,000 people a year. Okay, olivia, thank you very much indeed. And that leads very nicely to the debate. Were going to have brexit. Has it done the opposite of what it promised to do . And as it actually made migration even worse as promised, we are talking about net migration now to the United Kingdom and its expected that it wont fall to below 300,000 a year for the rest of the decade. And thats according the decade. And thats according to predictions from the migration observatory. Migration observatory. Okay. Seven years on from seven years from the brexit vote , 2016. Kidding me. I know. Kidding me. I know. Where did that time go . And where did that time go . And three and a half years then from actually leaving the eu. So where are we at with migration . Well its gone wrong. Has brexit made migration problems worse . Joining to debate this deputy leader of reform uk, ben habib. And weve got the former minister for europe, dennis macshane. Denis, really good, good to see you here. This sort of migration, though, that were talking about, this is not the sort of scary migration that everybody thinks, you know, everybodys coming over from africa and our shores are going to be invaded and our infrastructure cant take this. This is migration. We want, isnt it . Yes, its exactly like the migration of workers from europe that stop lock booted them that we stop lock booted them out. Not all them. Those were out. Not all of them. Those were here. Many stayed. And but we here. Many stayed. And but we said we dont want any more europeans. Get europeans. Were going to get brits to these jobs. Blow me brits to do these jobs. Blow me down. Were bringing in hundreds of thousands of indians, nigerians , the philippines, nigerians, the philippines, pakistan, bangla , desh. The pakistan, bangla, desh. The brexit was two great lies of the last ten years. Even that classic old one. I promise ill still love you in the morning. And if we leave europe, well get control of migration and well reduce migration figures. Well reduce migration figures. And it was just a whopper of a lie. All the lads have gone. Who lie. All the lads have gone. Who spilt it out . Penny mordaunt still there. So now you see, i want to put this to ben habib. Ben basically what it seems to me we cannot run on catering , to me we cannot run on catering, we cannot run hospitals , we cannot run hospitals, industry. We cannot run the Health Service unless we have all of these people from outside. So as i was saying to dennis, these are all people that we want. That we want. Well, i mean , i think that well, i mean, i think that thatis well, i mean, i think that that is an admission of failed governance, if you dont mind me saying so, eamonn. I mean, i completely agree that we have completely agree that we have completely failed our labour force. Weve got 6. 2 Million People on some level of universal credit or another , and universal credit or another, and yet were having to take in lots of people from abroad and remember, these people are coming in on wages, which are 20 below the median wage in the uk. So theyre coming in and doing largely unskilled work, as youve identified , putting uk youve identified, putting uk workers onto their back foot. Uk workers onto their back foot. Uk workers are already on their back foot because taxes are very high for the working in middle class and benefits a relatively high by comparison. So youve got a broken uk labour workforce, youve got a preparedness of Large Companies to employ these cheap, unskilled workers from abroad and a perpetuation of the problem. So what weve had pre brexit and post brexit is completely failed government as far as our Labour Market is concerned. I mean, i market is concerned. I mean, i completely agree with dennis. The promise was made that brexit would allow us the ability to fix this, but weve gone on practising a third World Economic model in a first world, economic, economic country. Dennis can i ask you, is there some advantage . There some advantage . I mean, why do we care whether were importing people from india , nigeria or wherever from india, nigeria or wherever it might be, as opposed to from europe . Whats the advantage of europe . Whats the advantage of having had europe, i guess, cultural ties and, you know, shared history . I mean, or is there a touch of racism in all of that that people actually want . Want . There was to begin with, you know , powell famously when the know, powell famously when the first waves of immigrants first great waves of immigrants came pakistan, came from pakistan, india, africa , arabia, the windrush africa, arabia, the windrush generation, do all the same jobs that ben saying are not cant be done by british people. And he said they should all be repatriated. My goodness , im repatriated. My goodness, im glad he was fired from the shadow cabinet. Othennise wed have repatriated mrs. Bravermans parents, rishi sunaks parents, sajid javids parents are really all weve doneis parents are really all weve done is swap one group of necessary workers. But take necessary workers. But take a country like switzerland, the richest country, i think maybe in the world, but certainly in europe. 27 of its population is immigrant born outside swiss borders, mainly in the eu. But they also trade every Single School leaver. We send 50 of school leaver. We send 50 of our School Leavers to university and the rest the employers, the cbi, the british chambers of commerce, all governments, laboun commerce, all governments, labour, as much as tory have refused to train up our own non university youngsters to take the jobs because loads of these people are coming in, theyre properly trained in other countries, theyre properly trained in ex communist countries to do jobs. We could do with. Are we prepared to tell bosses that youve got to spend money on training in germany . Doesit money on training in germany . Does it the dutch do it, the swiss, the swedes, a lot of the americans do it. Thats why theyre economies are stronger. Theyre economies are stronger. Ben, how does this all get resolved . Where we go from resolved . Where do we go from here . It certainly looks here . Because it certainly looks as you know, rishi sunak as though, you know, rishi sunak saying that figures saying last year that figures are wants them to are not where he wants them to be. Look set to be. It doesnt look set to change, although there have been slight sort of because of slight sort of tweaks because of the the ukrainian the chinese and the ukrainian situation kong, the first thing hong kong, the first thing theyve got to do is Suella Braverman indicated, is to increase the wage level at which a visa will be granted. So at the moment its set at £26,000 a yean the moment its set at £26,000 a year, which i mentioned is about 20 below the median wage in the uk. That should be set above the median wage of the uk for employers effectively to employ british people for these lower paid jobs. And that would incur a suggestion. Dennis why does that make you love this idea . Love this idea . Turn every hole in the wall sort of sausage , bap and cup of sort of sausage, bap and cup of coffee corner shop, which i hope to find after i leave the studio to find after i leave the studio to start employing people at £30,000 a year. And itjust £30,000 a year. And it just wont do it. Construction industry wont do it, farming wont do it. Delivery wont do it. I mean, id love a trade union guy. Id love love a Suella Braverman show any interest in supporting workers and forcing up wages . But this is just blah blah. But and you know it. Youre the guy whos done more to expose this. Go on, ben. Finish ben. Go on, ben. Finish ben. If i could just finish. If you raise that minimum wage level, it would be allowed to have free country. You are forcing british businesses to either upskill their own workforces or automate. Its not just about serving coffees and bats in a corner shop. Its about a much greater part of the economy than that. And it forces employers to reinvent themselves , to upskill. And where necessary, to pay british workers more. And you will then see a reduction in those people taking universal credit therell be more people coming back into the workforce. And paradoxically , youll probably end up in a much more stable wage situation than we have at the moment. What weve got, as i mentioned in my opening comments, is a third World Economic model and youve got 300,000 legal legal migrants a year for the rest of the decade. And habib, denis mcshane, thanks for your. Blah blah , thanks for your. Blah blah, blah, blah, blah. Very good. It was very excellent. Thank you very much. Believe you both. Theyre right right now paul coyte here and i was just going to say to you, we were talking about, well, tell me what we were talking about. You could hear the hoofbeats pound as they raced across ground and the raced across the ground and the clatter of the wheels as they spun round and round. Spun round and round. Ernie and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west. Fastest milk cart in the west. He was all right. He was all right. Those were. Those were our top of the pops years. Those were in the 70s or whatever. But it gets better. Well done, paul. Well done, paul. Ten out of ten now, ernie loved a widow, a lady known as sue. All alone in sue. She lived all alone in lindley lane at number 22. They said she was too good for him. She was haughty, proud and chic. But ernie got his cuckoo there three times every week. And it three times every week. And it goes on. It goes on. Anyway, there never was a follow up hit, was there . To ernie, the fastest built car in the west . No. Poor old benny hill. No. There you go. But anyway, we were talking about milkman today on on a comeback. And there are. Have you and there you are. Have you know, ernie let us know know, when ernie let us know today you got for us . Today what have you got for us . Well, we better do a little rugby. Think england and five rugby. I think england and five out of know everybodys out of five you know everybodys knocking england. Oh going knocking england. Oh its going to a disaster. Its looking to be a disaster. Its looking okay. Going right okay. Its going in the right direction. Of direction. It was a hell of a game against fiji yesterday, although nearly it although fiji nearly took it with a couple of tries with a couple of couple of tries towards the end and then they got together, they spoke. Owen farrell playing extremely farrell now is playing extremely well. He got booed as well when his name was announced. I dont think theyll be booing next time for the game against south africa because that is going to be one step up. And the south africa game yesterday against france, which is billed as probably the greatest cup probably the greatest world cup rugby game the before rugby game since the day before when ireland played new zealand. When ireland played new zealand. But theyve been terrific. Yeah, but it doesnt bode well. I dont know. Look, im obviously want england to go all the way, but it feels like theyve had a decent run so far and i think things are about to ramp up a little. Thats the thing. Thats the thing. Being an underdog is always a good thing. Thats its good thing. Thats true. Its the of underdog. The opposite of the underdog. And you be the and overdog. Would you be the overdog was chance of overdog if there was a chance of winning . The underdog and winning . But the underdog and the overdog dog. So. All right, give it a go. So. All right, give it a go. South africa. Then on england south africa. Then on saturday, new zealand versus argentina one. Argentina as the other one. Everybody will expecting the everybody will be expecting the all against south africa everybody will be expecting the alithe against south africa everybody will be expecting the alithe final. Gainst south africa everybody will be expecting the alithe final. Butst south africa everybody will be expecting the alithe final. But we outh africa everybody will be expecting the alithe final. Think afghanistan. So you think afghanistan, who have . I think theyve won one world cup game ever against scotland. It was going to be a walk in the park, but it was the other way round. Afghanistan looked like they were the world champions compared really compared to england. A really disastrous game. Thrash they disastrous game. Thrash they were 284 all out and then england come in 215. All out after 40 overs. So theyve played three, lost two. Theres ten teams in the league and basically its a round robin situation. So theyve all got to play situation. So theyve all got to play each other. So its early days yet, but england cant afford to lose again if they really not good at all. She said shed like to bathe in milk. He said, all right, sweetheart part. And when he finished work one night he loaded up the cart. He said you wanted pasteurise it because pasteurised is best. If youre in the anyway, if youre in the shower hotel with shower for in a hotel with towels for sniffer towels are calling for sniffer dogs to tackle the infestation of bedbugs. Apparently, isabel was n ext next welcome back. Its 843. We just want to show you live pictures coming into us here at gb news. These are coming from the rafah crossing , specifically the rafah crossing, specifically from the al arish city in egypt. From the al arish city in egypt. And we can see a number of fuel tanks, which we believe are being accompany ended by united nafions being accompany ended by United Nations aid workers aiming destination gaza. But at the moment, nobody having been successful in making that crossing, weve been reporting all morning about the conflict vision with lots of civilians amassing on the other side, trying to get out of gaza , trying to get out of gaza, western gaza as people with dual citizenship, predominant flee. And that was very much a diplomatic effort being led by the americans to try and make this happen overnight. But the rumours of a ceasefire and indeed of the rafah crossing being reopened have been well, shot down, frankly. And told by israel and hamas that that is not happening this morning. But not happening this morning. But at the moment, those fuel vehicles trying to make their way into gaza tankers , tankers, way into gaza tankers, tankers, what do they call them, a fuel vehicle. Fuel vehicle fuel tankers. Right. Well get away from events in the middle east now and well look at the lighter side of the news in the company of dawn neesom and Benedict Spence. To both of spence. Very nice to see both of you here. And dawn, the big thing, pop royalty, madonna is in london. I have to admit, this is not my speciality subject, but it is. Its a huge story. This is on pretty much most of the page ones mention of it. And this is a spread in pages two and a big spread in pages two and three of daily mail with three of the daily mail with a Pretty Amazing picture of madonna, three madonna, who is playing three nights 02 this week nights at londons 02 this week and then coming up in and then two coming up in december at and it was the tour she had to cancel because she had a knee fell or five. Mean, had a knee fell or five. I mean, she looks amazing. So yeah, basically they sell out concerts, but the audience, the mixed reviews from last night, a few technical glitches , but she few technical glitches, but she she plays most of her back catalogue. But the thing is that the ticket prices are astronaut comical. I mean her her demographic of fans are going to be of a certain age. So they are going to have the money probably to afford it. But an ordinary ticket not on one of the resale sites, but about £400. A resale will cost you at least 750. Exactly. And the thing is, its like every every every gay man literally went it on man i know literally went it on this weekend. And because i live quite near venue, i was quite near the venue, i was walking canary wharf. It walking through canary wharf. It was actually and there was someone , you know, iconic someone, you know, the iconic pointy thing. Yeah. You were pointy bra thing. Yeah. You were there was a man. A man coming towards me wearing one of those, of course, dangerous. But it was of course, dangerous. But it was certainly eye catching in every sense of the word. So people seem to go and have a good time. But it was a mixed review. And she got her two daughters on stage which is quite stage as well, which is quite nice. Two of her daughters on nice. Or two of her daughters on stage to join in with stage as well to join in with her. But very saucy. And the fact that shes still doing it in than you, eamonn definitely. Still, i i wish i was in still, i wish i wish i was in her condition and she she floats about the stage and theres a lot of special effects. Yes. Theres lots of special effects. And she also i mean, because there was Security Issues as well, because unfortunately we every unfortunately, we have every story come back to whats story does come back to whats going on in gaza and israel at the moment. She used to be a big supporter israel. She supporter of israel. She actually is a member of one of the branches of the jewish faith. So there was a Security Risk going on as well. And this report does say there were a few empty seats last night, but maybe because people were concerned about the terror concerned and about the terror threats. So but its a bit of light relief and when most of the papers are pretty grim today, to be honest, if you ask me for a madonna song, i would go holiday same or vogue really . Go holiday same or vogue really . Oh, what about you . Benedict couldnt tell you. You couldnt. You couldnt. Im single. A madonna song. Im single. A madonna song. You need to leave right now. Im going to see the prodigy next month. Thats okay. Gives us flavour of that gives us a flavour of what into. What youre into. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay okay. Yeah. Yeah. Okay okay. Well, stay with the well, lets stay with the theme hotels, because im theme of hotels, because im sure madonna is not really a theme, staying in theme, but she was staying in hotel lots of people were hotel and lots of people were indeed. And apparently these special trained dogs are special trained sniffer dogs are the this bedbug the solution to this bedbug crisis. The solution to this bedbug crisyes , its a great time if you yes, its a great time if you invested in sniffer dogs invested in bedbug sniffer dogs at some point in the recent past. This is your moment to shine. Would you. Benedict right. I need a sniffer dog for bedbugs. I dont know somebody whos very sort of farsighted, that sort theres been a 25 sort of. But theres been a 25 increase in bedbug related call outs according to 1k9 company. And this is, as you said, this is hotel cells reacting to the phenomenon that were currently undergoing, which is these bedbugs coming from the continent. I mean, it does sound like a very odd thing to have to be saying that weve got an be saying is that weve got an infestation they infestation of bedbugs. But they say dont expect it to say that they dont expect it to last. This isnt going to be a permanent thing. I think maybe permanent thing. I think maybe itll those things a itll be one of those things a bit like how in the wintertime, before comes the flea before winter comes the flea numbers and they all numbers go up and then they all sort crash because it gets sort of crash because it gets too cold for them reproduce. Too cold for them to reproduce. So thatll happen, so maybe thatll happen, but isnt thats a isnt that exciting . Thats a good fashioned. Good Old Fashioned. Yeah, its on someones leg. Yeah, its on someones leg. Old fashioned its a good Old Fashioned reminder that the world is not left yeah theyve infested tube. Yeah theyve infested the underground network the London Underground network and now , according and they are also now, according to today reached as far to the sun today reached as far as swindon. Yeah really . Really . Really . Well, we should get out here before all of this going on in france, in the french. So it just makes it more funnier. Okay. Let the details get in the way of a good story. Now, talking about funny and the telegraph, don, on the front page and they have got the what would you call Richard Curtis playwright or. Yeah i mean rom romcom king no blimey is that on his linkedin. Yes. Dont you think . Richard curtis he he wrote four weddings and a funeral, notting hill love actually. And things like that. And he is being interviewed by his daughter, lovely scarlett, who is 28 years at the who is 28 years old at the cheltenham literary festival. And his daughter has pulled him up about the fat jokes he made in many, many of his films , in many, many of his films, which, as you know, 20, 30 years ago, some of them. And she is ago, some of them. And she is saying you cant use the word fat anymore, dad. So he is now fat anymore, dad. So he is now saying, right, okay, i have told my daughter i will stop telling fat jokes in films now this comes back to the age old debate at the moment is like, can you joke about anything or are there some subjects that are off limits and, you know, some he goes, well, fat isnt funny anymore. And i sort of like just reading stuff from reading some of the stuff from four and funeral here four weddings and a funeral here with very emotional with the very the very emotional funeral scene where matthew, played by john hannah, says that the funeral of his partner. I rang a few people to get a general picture of how gareth was regarded. Seems be was regarded. Fat seems to be a word most people connected with him, find quite funny. Him, which i find quite funny. Yeah, but youre not fat. Yeah, but youre not fat. Yeah, but youre not fat. But. No, but i mean, yeah, but youre not fat. But. No, buti mean, i yeah, but youre not fat. But. No, but i mean, i would probably. Husband sort of probably. My husband sort of like on curvy side. I think like on the curvy side. I think im allowed say that. So if im allowed to say that. So if someone said that the someone said that about the other half, that was other half, id think that was quite funny. What i find is theres so many things you cant joke about, fat is definitely about, but fat is definitely there. Fat and probably bald, right . And if you are ginger and bald ginger, youve just described my husband perfectly fat. And whilst ginger so yeah, but i mean, the thing is the word fat is that now so offensive we cant even use the word fat. Word fat. I dont, i dont think we should be raising the word fat out of comedies and things from the past. I think particularly of one of the characters in four weddings and a funeral, who was called or something, called miss piggy or something, who to date. Not. Who he used to date. Im not. Ive lost three stones. Do you remember her . Yes. I always felt a bit sorry for her, but when my kids roald dahl and you kids read roald dahl and you know, me down i see know, shoot me down when i see when read out the words when my kids read out the words little little. I dont little fat, old little. I dont like saying it because like them saying it because i think its impolite to refer to someone like that so personally, i fat isnt i think the word fat isnt really joke itself really because the joke itself hasnt or because the hasnt landed or because the subject isnt. I just wouldnt want repeat that word in want them to repeat that word in the directed at the playground directed at another i saw another child. I mean, i saw Bridget Jones diary for the first time a couple of months ago. It was one of those things that was sort of pass me by and i do remember thinking, actually, its a funny film, but i remember thinking i also remember thinking this wouldnt today. There i also remember thinking this wotlotst today. There i also remember thinking this wotlotst things today. There i also remember thinking this wotlotst things thatiay. There i also remember thinking this wotlotst things that would ere are lots of things that would be. But thats her and her be. But but thats her and her big pants and whatever wouldnt be. Dont think get that be. I dont think youd get that through. Dont think anybody through. I dont think anybody would. Still thought would. But i still thought actually, this is actually, i can see why this is amusing. Its entertaining. And actually, i can see why this is ado sing. Its entertaining. And actually, i can see why this is ado thinkits entertaining. And actually, i can see why this is ado think also ntertaining. And actually, i can see why this is ado think also these ning. And actually, i can see why this is ado think also these things. Nd i do think also these things come cycles. I do think that come in cycles. I do think that these things that we currently consider, you know, off consider, you know, slightly off limits, round limits, theyll come back round again because at some point people push back people will want to push back against what is considered the consensus. And thats tends to be comedy works. Consensus. And thats tends to be i comedy works. Consensus. And thats tends to be i comedthatrks. Consensus. And thats tends to be i comedthat film, bridget i mean, in that film, Bridget Jones, played renee jones, played by renee zellweger, say she zellweger, does say she she complains herself, if ive got a bottom the size of brazil, which sorry, laugh. Sorry, it made you laugh. Also women can relate women also women can relate to we all know struggle, to that. We all know struggle, she says. Right. Dawn, lets talk the of talk about the princess of wales, doesnt talk about the princess of wale that doesnt talk about the princess of wale that problem. Doesnt talk about the princess of wale that problem. Blinksnt talk about the princess of wale that problem. Blink and have that problem. Blink and youll miss her. And goodness me, there she was flying the flag, wearing white. Yes, flag, but wearing white. Yes, she england. She was. England. This is our world cup. Shes the lucky mascot. Helps the lucky mascot. Kate helps rugby the line. This rugby heroes over the line. This is its in all the papers. And she look rather gorgeous , she does look rather gorgeous, although going opposite to although going the opposite to the word. Think she does the fat word. I think she does sometimes look rather slim. But i mean , obviously, she leads i mean, obviously, she leads a very busy life. Yeah. So she is shes in the dressing room with all the rugby, the England Rugby players who have just defeated our fiji. 3224 forgive me, our fiji. 3224 forgive me, i really dont do rugby. Im a football girl, but she is in there with all these very, very, very fit young men looking very , very fit young men looking very, very fit young men looking very, very steady on. Can i not do that either now . Can i not find it funny . No, ijust can i not find it funny . No, i just find it funny now either. Im sure she didnt notice that they were really shared it with they were really shared it with the male community. Right. Okay. You can do i speak on their yeah. Speak on their behalf . Yeah. Handsome, the very handsome, attractive, bellied at attractive, bellied expense at the the table there. And the end of the table there. And the end of the table there. And the very attractive, handsome eamonn sitting but eamonn sitting between us. But we can say nice things we cant. We can say nice things about the opposite. I was about the opposite. No i was just laughing about whether or not noticed not she noticed it. You know, of dont you think . You know, of course didnt. Course she didnt. Happily reckoned shes course she didnt. Allowed jily reckoned shes course she didnt. Allowed to. Reckoned shes not allowed to. Not allowed to notice. Shes not allowed to notice. Shes to the future shes married to the future king. Shes off with her head. Keeping her eyes very shes keeping her eyes very front it has to be said. No, its always great to see it. Find it funny, the it. I find it funny, the rivalry, whenever its england, wales, obviously her hubby wales, obviously with her hubby being for wales being the patron for wales rugby. Yeah benedict can we talk about well be about a story which well be covering next here, covering in the next hour here, which of these plans the which is sort of these plans the government are putting fonnard to the crisis in our to deal with the crisis in our prisons, pop cells prisons, including pop up cells in prison yards. That doesnt sound very secure. Tell us more. The front of the times this morning. I mean, were only weeks or weeks on from a story where somebody break out prison somebody did break out of prison and now here we are saying, well, the prisons are all full. Some not able some people might not be able to be given sentences. Be given custodial sentences. Other criminals other less violent criminals might let out might have to be let out because, again, lack of planning might have to be let out bethese, again, lack of planning might have to be let out bethe criminal lack of planning might have to be let out bethe criminal justicef planning might have to be let out bethe criminal justice system. |g in the criminal justice system. Its has been its one thing that has been hammered successive hammered by successive governments simply because they thought an easy thought it was an easy thing that you can cut resources to. But this is the times saying that there be pop up prison that there will be pop up prison cells. Mean, on the cells. I mean, answers on the back postcard. How on earth back of a postcard. How on earth are going make those are you going to make those secure . Are they going secure . What are they going to be . Portacabins ive no idea how thats work, also thats meant to work, but also deporting foreign criminals like you would have thought that would a fairly would have been a fairly standard procedure already. Apparently not. And making low level offenders remove graffiti rather prison will be rather than go to prison will be part of the plan to increase the capacity at and im sorry to say, i dont mean to sound just sort of broadly negative. Its another example of a real sort of patchwork approach to politics in this country where this has been something that lawyers warning lawyers have been warning for a very time. Police have very long time. The police have been about for a very been warning about for a very long time. And prison long time. And the Prison Service been saying, service have all been saying, look, capacity right look, were at capacity right now. Needs to be more now. There needs to be more prisons, to be more prisons, there needs to be more planning how you this. Planning about how you do this. And nothing been done. 13 and nothing has been done. 13 years government and nothing has been done. 13 yearthis government and nothing has been done. 13 yearthis government government and nothing has been done. 13 yearthis government is overnment and nothing has been done. 13 yearthis government is maybe ent and this government is maybe facing a general election defeat, to put. But defeat, not able to put. But listen, general election listen, every general election that around to about that comes around to hear about pnsons that comes around to hear about prisons an and prisons being an issue and whatever, and we just havent got enough staff what got enough staff and what politicians dont understand is the general public do not mind their taxes being spent on prisons. They quite they quite like the idea of locking people up. Weve got to let you two out, though, don and benedict, thank you very much indeed for reviewing the papers for us today and seeing what the stories are that are making the headunes. Stories are that are making the headlines. Well be back and headlines. Well be back and well obviously have more the well obviously have more on the middle conflict these are the latest pictures coming in from gaza of the un. Escorted fuel trucks. This is escorted fuel trucks. This is the gaza egypt border bringing more hope that aid and supplies could reach those desperate civilians inside gaza very, very soon. Very good morning to you. Welcome to the program. Its coming up to 9 00. Its just gone 9 00 on monday, the 16th of october. Youre tuned into breakfast on gb news with amy and isabel. The stories weve been covering on breakfast this morning. The us has said that morning. The us has said that the egypt gaza Border Crossing is to reopen to allow aid into gaza and that Foreign Nationals trapped there to get to safety. Our reporter Charlie Peters live in tel aviv throughout the day. In tel aviv throughout the day. Movie movement on the rafah cross and the rafah crossing into gaza as the humanitarian situation remains untenable. Situation remains untenable. But fighting continues across israel, particularly in the north, with israel , meanwhile, north, with israel, meanwhile, says half a Million People have left northern gaza for the south ahead of its imminent land, sea and air attack on hamas targets. But it denies any reports of a ceasefire this morning. A ceasefire this morning. Net migration is unlikely to fall to pre brexit levels, even by the end of this decade. Will by the end of this decade. Will this be another conservative promise broken . Well have the latest on that. Latest on that. And also this morning, latest on that. And also this morning , weve and also this morning, weve had a special report on drinks being spiked. You can catch that exclusive on gbnews. Com or on our social media accounts this morning. Morning. And Jonathan Vautrey will be telling you where the cold spell is coming from. Is coming from. Good morning. Its a week of two halves, starting off relatively fine and settled but wetter and windier conditions arriving later. Join me later for all the details. For all the details. And as always, you can join in any of our discussions by emailing us gbviews gbnews. Com or you can tweet us at. Or you can tweet us at. Gb news and mark says i missed having milk delivered on milk floats, so i recently started getting it delivered again from our local milkman. Milkman. It tasted delicious, but it got too expensive so i had to cancel it. I missed the old days though. So this is the dilemma that it could be as much as a pound more per carton from the milkman as it would be from the supermarket. I said per carton. So he would have a bottle of milk bottle and then the bottles go and get washed and recapped and all that sort of thing. That was in the old days, but a lot of you saying that it isnt just milk you get the milkman. Milk you get from the milkman. You get butter and eggs and you get bread and you get fruit juice and all sorts of things like that. So very good. So the pass could be the future on this sort of thing, wouldnt that be . Top story this morning. Well, we want to show you the scene at the rafah crossing. Scene at the rafah crossing. This the gaza egypt this is on the gaza egypt border. There are hopes it will open shortly. There was some confusion that it had opened a little bit earlier after the us secretary of state, antony blinken, said it would. However there so far, as far as were aware, nobody has yet crossed there. Lots of western citizens , there. Lots of western citizens, particularly people with dual nationality, hoping to get out. Its not thought to be ordinary single passport Holding Palestinians that would be able to get out that way. To get out that way. Place in egypt has put in place a lot of Material Support. But for people in in gaza and rafah will be will be open. Rafah will be will be open. Were putting in place with the United Nations , with egypt, with United Nations, with egypt, with israel, with others. The mechanism by which to get the assistance in. Well, here the Prime Minister is expected to reiterate britains total condemnation of hamas attacks and set out the governments approach to the developing crisis. He will speak in the house of commons later today. Today. And at least 17 british citizens are missing or confirmed dead following hamas attacks last weekend. James cleverly, the foreign secretary, is due to use an International Summit in albania to further rally support for israel. Rally support for israel. Lets go to our reporter, Charlie Peters. Charlie is on the ground in tel aviv and joins us northern gaza has fallen eerily silent after another night of deadly bombing. Now the only thing falling from the sky are thousands of pamphlets containing a message from israel. Evacuate to the south immediately. And so they south immediately. And so they did for many, the threat of more of israels bombs and impending invasion in response to the terror attack which killed more than 1400in israel, outweighs orders from hamas to stay put. Orders from hamas to stay put. Hundreds of thousands fled south on whatever could carry them cars. If there was fuel horse and cars, if one could be found. But many turned to their own feet and nick gibb. But not everyone is leaving. This doctor everyone is leaving. This doctor and his staff at this Childrens Hospital say they simply cant evacuate. Evacuate. Can. Can. Can. If you want to kill us, kill us while we continue working here, we will not leave. We need days and weeks to secure another place. Unfortunately, there are place. Unfortunately, there are no empty nurseries in these difficult conditions. The difficult conditions. The situation is really dangerous , situation is really dangerous, as i tell you that transfer bnng as i tell you that transfer bring these children from this place means handing them a death sentence. They will die. And sentence. They will die. And this equipment only operates of electricity and oxygen nearby. Al Shifa Hospital continues to receive a flow of bodies pulled from the rubble of bombed neighbourhoods. This doctors neighbourhoods. This doctors here say the hospital is ovennhelmed with civilians as the injured and the orphaned. The injured and the orphaned. Where do these children go now . Foreign nationals have been told to head to gazas border with egypt, but as they arrive there , egypt, but as they arrive there, there was no escape here. Those with european and american passport can only wait for the gates to be opened among them, mariam and her mother, who travelled from their home in the uk to gaza to visit family. Every every time. I just have to have the thought of me dying in a bomb in gaza like its not a good thing. Like every place a good thing. Like every place i 9 a good thing. Like every place i go, i go run away and i just go, i go run away and ijust find bombs and i find dead people and like , maybe one day people and like, maybe one day ill end up like them. But its ill end up like them. But its a really scary thing for me. Israel has ovennhelm wing support by the eu , the uk and support by the eu, the uk and the United States over its right to defend itself and eliminate hamas , a terror group that has hamas, a terror group that has inflicted unimaginable suffering and bloodshed on the country. And bloodshed on the country. But such messages of support have increasingly come with a warning to retaliate within International Law and to protect the innocent Palestinian Civilians. Civilians. And on the subject of innocence, an israeli innocent. Innocence, an israeli innocent. Now, earlier in the program , we now, earlier in the program, we spoke to a lady called jessica alter. Yes, her boyfriend was killed by hamas in the supernova festival massacre ten days ago. Festival massacre ten days ago. I went to a party to a regular party to have fun like we always do together , like we always do together, like everyone is doing, just to go to a party, to have fun, to drink something, to dance, and to come back home safely. She easily at and ben went out from the party already. He came out already. He was safe. No shooting, nothing. Was safe. No shooting, nothing. And on the way out he decided to save people. He took with him save people. He took with him 4 or 5 people that he dont know he never met. He just opened his car. And he whoever he could bnng car. And he whoever he could bring with him outside, safely , bring with him outside, safely, he did it. He just put people in the car, save them , took them the car, save them, took them out. Something like around an hour drive. He put them in their houses in beer sheva. Its like houses in beer sheva. Its like Something Like an hour. Its not a minute or two. And then they came. He came back again. And came. He came back again. And although he knew there was shooting theirs because their friends , his friends was there, friends, his friends was there, he came to look for his friends again. Although he saved already again. Although he saved already many peoples. He came again and. And we found his phone after was his friend texted him dont come , dont come back. Dont come, dont come back. There is shooting again. Its dangerous. Just dont come. We dangerous. Just dont come. We will be okay. And he said, no way. Coming back. Way. Coming back. And of course he didnt. Way. Coming back. And of course he didnt. That and of course he didnt. That lad a real hero. You know, looking out for other people, saving lives there. And then tragically losing his own. Tragically losing his own. Lets cross live now to Charlie Peters, who joins us from tel aviv. Good morning again to you, charlie. Really again to you, charlie. Really confusing stories coming out of gaza this morning with reports that the ceasefire was in operation then, that the crossing was open and about fuel tankers going one way and then finding out they were going the other. So bring us up to date on exactly what we know, because this is always the First Casualty of war, isnt it . The truth . Yes and so many of the reports coming of Southern Gaza are coming out of Southern Gaza are unconfirmed , armed, but we have unconfirmed, armed, but we have at footage this at least seen footage this morning of un flagged fuel trucks moving across that rafah crossing. Its understood that they are heading into gaza from egypt. And we know that many humanitarian organisations within Southern Gaza have been calling for more fuel because electricity supplies have been cut for off the last eight days due to that israeli blockade. They have blocked any water and electricity supplies going in and so hospitals and other humanitarian areas are relying on fuel to Power Generators to keep people alive. But at the keep people alive. But at the same time as this fuel likely moves into Southern Gaza, there will be concerns that some of it could end up in the hands of hamas. Weve heard many reports from the Al Shifa Hospital in the north of the gaza strip throughout this week where people suffering, but people have been suffering, but also taking shelter. We do know and we have known for many years that hamas actually runs bunkers and out of that and runs shelters out of that hospital because they know it cannot be targeted in 2014. Dunng cannot be targeted in 2014. During that 50 day incursion when the idf invaded the gaza strip , there were reports of strip, there were reports of them seeing hamas officers and operators in and around the hospital , often just standing operators in and around the hospital, often just standing in the corridors while people were receiving treatment. But we do know that people throughout gaza urgently need treatment as this humanitarian situation soon becomes untenable. Yes today the un said that the spectre of death loomed over the area as hundreds of thousands are fleeing from the north to the south amid reports of that imminent idf air, sea and land invasion with a comprehensive focus on the land they need to prepare that ground. And so they need people to move to the south. And thats where that diplomacy has been so useful from the us and the from the us and from the egyptian side to try and ensure as as possible that as that as much as possible that as that Impossible Task of people moving from the north to the south continues, that they receive some aid and some support in a really desperate situation. Really desperate situation. Charlie, thank you very much indeed update. Foreign indeed for the update. Foreign criminals could avoid prosecution entirely and instead face immediate deportation under government plans. Government plans. Its an attempt to solve the overcrowding crisis in our prisons, which currently hold 10,500 foreigners. The lord chancellor will set out plans today to see more of these criminals deported. Gb news Political EditorChristopher Hope across this one for us this morning. What more for us this morning. What more can you tell us, christopher . Can you tell us, christopher . Well, ivan, theres 88,000 people in our jails in in people in ourjails in in england and wales. More than 10,000 of them are Foreign National prisoners. Now under current rules, you can send them overseas back to where they came from. One year before the end of their sentence. The government their sentence. The government wants to bring that 18 wants to bring that into 18 months allow months before the end. Allow more to be deported, more of them to be deported, saving £70,000 for each prisoner. This is the idea is prompted by the overcrowded nature of our jails. We heard last week there are prisons. They are filled to capacity. As of today, judges have been told if they can to keep people out on licence, on bail after sentencing, if theyre not a to risk the community. So theres a real risk right now it comes round every every few years or so, a threat to our to our prisons. Overcrowding completely and full. One and being completely full. One idea were not sure when it idea is were not sure when it might place. One idea is to might take place. One idea is to try and send Foreign National prisoners back to their countries they came from. Countries where they came from. 18 months the end of 18 months before the end of their sentence. Us little bit about tell us a little bit about the christopher their the snp. Christopher their conference undennay this week in aberdeen, in aberdeen no less. And also, you know, a little bit about what we can expect to hear from them in terms of the referendum calls for another one yet again, yet again, the r word that thats totally right isnt it . I mean the snp conference is starting up in aberdeen. The big news from yesterday is that if they get more than 29 mps, more than the 57 mps sitting in parliament down here in scotland, that will be a mandate to seek a new referendum. So the partys basic purpose is to try and take scotland out of the uk and take scotland out of the uk and thats what they decided so far in their conference. But we spoke to gb news viewers to tell us what they think should be their priorities as the people of scotland deserve better. They deserve a government that are actually there for the people they need to stop banging the independence drum once in a generation thats passed. The generation thats passed. The decision was, no, we stay part of the union, abide by the rules, dont go for independence in scotland. Just think of all of us that live in durham and northumberland, where we can just get in the car, drive up to see you, spend our money in your country. And i really dont want to do that and have to show me passport. What im looking for from the snps conference this weekend is honesty, honesty and acceptance that scotland is a much worse place since they came to power is three times more likely to die from a drugs overdose in scotland. Its getting worse and worse. Not better. These are the things that the scottish people i know and love are talking about at the moment. These are the things theyll to see fixed. Id theyll want to see fixed. Id like to the snp finally like to see the snp finally accept the results of the 2014 referenda and in the little time that they have left in government, id like to see them accept their total and utter failure for the. Thats right. This thats the views of gb news viewers there. And of course the key idea is once in a generation, thats what we were told when i was up covering the snp. The independence referendum back in 2014. And we were told then it was once in a generation. Well nearly ten years have passed since then. Something a since then. Something a generation is 50 years. Some thinks its maybe 12, 20 years. Whats your view . Well, i think my view is what else are they going to talk about . Because their record is so shocking on so many things, from education to health, that this one trick pony, this is their one trick pony, that any support or that really riles any support or whips up any support. It seems. Whips up any support. It seems. You know, im that cynical about it, frankly. We thats right. It, frankly. We thats right. The problem is they have got these failings on on on drugs deaths in scotland, issues with education and health. And so often many critics say rightly probably, that the party is trying to distract with this big idea of independence and ignonng idea of independence and ignoring how theyre doing on the domestic front. And thats part of the problem. I think the party got into the party has got going into the westminster election next year. And that , the year and following that, the year after the ones in holyrood. Thanks, christopher. Appreciate. You. And appreciate it. Thank you. And were going to take a break there. And after that, were going to be talking about drinks being spiked and it doesnt doesnt have to affect christopher. I dont know why he was hanging about there for, but it doesnt just affect women. It affects men as well. So if we refer with a special report on spiked alcohol now everyone should be able to feel safe on a night out. But sadly, that isnt always the case. Up and down the uk, violent and Sexual Offences often against women, have become an increasing problem. An increasing problem. So this is people go out for a nights entertainment. They go a nights entertainment. They go to the pub, the bar , a club and to the pub, the bar, a club and it becomes just extraordinary what happens. For example, in lancashire, data obtained by gb news shows that since 2012, the number of spiking incidents has increased by almost 200 our north west of england. Reporter sophie reaper went out with Lancashire Police on one of their new night Time Operations to see the prevention work that theyre doing for herself. And she sent us this exclusive report. Exclusive report. A wet and windy night out in lancaster. Lancaster. The freshers have returned to university and all seems well , university and all seems well, but under the surface trouble is brewing. Gb news has obtained brewing. Gb news has obtained exclusive data which shows in the last decade the number of spiking incidents in lancashire has skyrocketed utd by 183. Were going out there, were going to intervene. Were going to stop any offences happening over the past few weeks, Lancashire Police has been carrying out operation knight guardian. Yeah, so at that pub that gentlemans been banned for something hes done previously tonight hes come down intoxicated and hes tried to get in with his friends. Theyve let his mates in because theyre fine, theyve said to him, fine, but theyve said to him, no, issues the no, youve caused issues in the past. Youre coming and past. Youre not coming in. And then when problems then thats when the problems have refused to have started. Hes refused to leave area. We could have leave the area. We could have arrested him. He was being drunken, disorderly idea drunken, disorderly and the idea of for that of his arresting for that offence that nip his offence is that we can nip his behaviour in bud. So youll behaviour in the bud. So youll spend the night in the cells in our custody to sober up. So he wont be sexually assaulted anyone any fights. Anyone or causing any fights. Thats i at it as a thats the way i look at it as a drunken disorderly but thats the way i look at it as a drhes n disorderly but thats the way i look at it as a drhes willingierly but thats the way i look at it as a drhes willing to. Y but thats the way i look at it as a drhes willing to walk but thats the way i look at it as a drhes willing to walk off but thats the way i look at it as a drhes willing to walk off andt if hes willing to walk off and have a good night, well then im happy to arrested him. Happy to having arrested him. And happy because he had a and hes happy because he had a good and hes happy because he had a goothings seem have things did seem to have calmed down, within minutes calmed down, but within minutes the same man was placed under arrest. The uk there arrest. All over the uk there are scenes just like this one on are scenes just like this one on a but theres a nightly basis, but theres a dark to britains dark underbelly to britains nightlife lancashire nightlife and now Lancashire Police fighting back. Tell police are fighting back. Tell me why were in lancaster tonight. So were out for operation knight guardian. So weve got officers out in uniform and plain clothes and were out there amongst the night time economy, speaking with speaking with with licensees, speaking with the locals that the students and the locals that are out having a night are all out having a good night out, keeping safe. Violence out, keeping them safe. Violence against girls a against women and girls is a National Issue. An National Issue. It is an unfortunate statistic that drunken females and vulnerable females may be attacked and that generally is by a male perpetrator later. And we need to intervene at the right point. Identify that predatory that concerning behaviour that we see out on the streets and get in there before any offences can happen. Everyone has the right to get home from a night out safely and so moving fonnard , lancashire so moving fonnard, Lancashire Police will be slamming the door shut on anyone who thinks othennise. Sophie reaper gb news good report. Sophie. Very interesting to see the and hear about the reality of what going out and socialising is and the risks that you run. Do you ever fear that you run. Do you ever fear about that happening to you . Ive never seen it happen and ive never worried about it. But perhaps i should add it to the list of things i should worry about. We should certainly all be vigilant and on our watch and it you know, it really it just, you know, it really reminds everybody, accept it just, you know, it really re drink; everybody, accept it just, you know, it really re drink from ybody, accept it just, you know, it really re drink from ayody, accept it just, you know, it really re drink from a stranger. Accept it just, you know, it really redrink from a stranger. Makept a drink from a stranger. Make sure that know someone you sure that you know someone you trust if theyre buying round trust if theyre buying a round add. But ideally, get it yourself. Better, its a yourself. Or even better, its a bit maybe dont let bit boring, but maybe dont let yourself when on a yourself drink when youre on a night its safer. Night out. Its safer. Well, it sort of spoils the whole of out and whole idea of going out and being and whatever, being entertained and whatever, but its really very and especially good destroys what is put into this and for what purpose is to knock someone out, to someone, to make to incapacitate someone, to make them sick, whatever. What on earth, you know, drug would be in there to make them, you know, to give effect that these to give the effect that these people and what sinister people want and what sinister motives have they got . Yeah. Yeah. Well, usually sexual arent they. A busy news they. Its been a busy news morning. Weve had loads of updates on the middle east conflict it is ongoing and conflict and it is ongoing and we hand over the reins this morning to bev turner and emily khalife.
