Gary Police, Indiana State Police and prosecutors combine forces to relaunch homicide task force

The Homicide Task Force will fill a void left when Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez announced in December that he would be disbanding the Metro Homicide Unit and deploying those detectives elsewhere within the department. Six Gary Police detectives will be assigned to the task force along with two ISP troopers. A member of the state excise police will be assigned to the task force to assist in investigations.
