I am delighted to speak at this event marking the 13th anniversary of the death of one of the most inspiring characters of Nigerian people’s struggles. Chief Gani Fawehinmi is inspiring not only for his daring courage, resourcefulness, and sacrifices in the struggle but also for his perceptiveness in seeing clearly and taking a decision to register and build the National Conscience Party (NCP), as an independent, fighting political platform for working people and the poor, with “abolition of poverty” as its central goal and objective.
