Protesters Rally For Transgender Rights
(Asheville, NC) -- Two proposed bills are being protested against by transgender youth supporters in Asheville. WLOS-TV says hundreds of people marched for a rally in downtown yesterday against the Save Women's Sports Act and the Youth Health Protection Act. A board member with the group Youth OUTright W-N-C said the proposals could erase years of working for equality in the transgender community. It's likely the legislation won't make it to a vote by state lawmakers this session.
Funeral Services Announced For Fallen Deputies
(Watauga County, NC) -- Funeral services for two fallen western North Carolina deputies are planned this week. Sergeant Chris Ward and K-9 Deputy Logan Fox were killed during a welfare check at a Boone home last Tuesday. Services are open to the public this Thursday afternoon at the Appalachian State University Holmes Convocation Center. A Community Night of Remembrance is also set one week from today.
