Any moment president trump is going to take the stage at the nassau coliseum out on long island. This is his first rally since the second attempt at his life. Now, mind you, this is a state that trump lost by 21 percent in 2016. And by 23% in 2020. But, at the age of 78 he is still a hometown boy. And even with all the legal abuse he has endured there, he still loves new york. And before heading out to the rally, he even stopped by a bar that supports cryptocurrency in lower manhattan. That was great to see. Mingling with the folks there trump is the first g. O. P. Presidential candidate since reagan in 1980 to make a real run for new york. What's your message for new york? i love new york. I always loved new york. And we're going to give new york a big play. I leave here i mean you see the crowds and it's so friendly. I love new york. I think we have a real chance of winning. We will work your mayor and governor and do a lot of great things for new york. We want to do that and we have to bring it back. We can't let this happen to new york. So unfair. To have hundreds of thousands of people dumped into the city and the state, you just can't do that nothing no place can sustain that. Laura: i love that it was totally off the cuff. Compare that to kamala harris at any given point in the day? so trump is fighting for everyone, not just red states, he is not just trying to cobble together a handful of battleground states. I think this is pivotal to see tonight. Is he trying to win the popular vote. And is he trying to make harris defend even her strong holds. That is good. Now, we're going to be watching as he comes out on that stage in front of thousands. People are waiting there since yesterday. And we're going to bring you breaking news as it comes. But, first: two months, two assassination attempts and dozens of outstanding questions. Well it, seems that all we have gotten at this point from the government is stonewalling. And the longer they do that, and i said this after july 13th, the more americans wonder what is really going on? so the government's lack of transparency is creating a major credibility crisis for the secret service and the fbi. Are you reassured by this? i want the american people to know that the men and women of the fbi are working tirelessly to get to the bottom of what happened. Our work is very much ongoing and we're just a few days into the investigation. So we're limited in what we can say we're working around the clock to investigate this. Laura: it's going to take a little more than that to assuage fears in this case. And we're still standing waiting for answers about the first time trump was almost killed. And just like things didn't seem to add up about thomas crooks, who he was personally, his motivations, we're still looking for that let alone the incompetence on the ground in butler, well, in this situation, the same questions are lingering. The same could be said of the way they are drying to spin this ryan routh. This guy had a long criminal past dating back decades. He spent much of his life in north carolina before moving to hawaii in 2017 where he built tiny homes for homeless people. Now, somehow he eventually made his way to ukraine where all on his own i guess he was willing to fight and i do die for all e people of ukraine. Trying to recruit people to fight in ukraine. Had a website. Let me get this straight a guy with a long criminal past, living in hawaii, not making much money, somehow gets to ukraine with 60 bucks? $68 in his bank account? where he then threatened foreign leaders to another person aassassination chitchat, and he ran a website recruiting foreign fighters for the war? jug did that on his own. Last week he made his way from hawaii to camp out in the bushes of the trump golf course in west palm beach in the middle of the night with a rifle and a scope and a couple of bags. Hmmm. As we told you last night routh was reported to the feds but appears that nothing came of it. So, all of this raises more questions than it gives us any answers. But we are learning one new detail. Fox news has confirmed that donald trump now does have the same protection package he did when he was president about time. He already had it believe it or not on sunday. But a secret service source tells us that trump's security was increased after butler thamed helped thwart the second assassination attempt. Mike waltz, members of the trump assassination task force. I can't believe we have to have a task force but we do. Congressman waltz, thank you for joining us. What can you share with us about this briefing? just to go back to butler and gross incompetence. It's jawdropping, laura. Not all the local law enforcement was at the coordination meetings with the secret service they did not give the law enforcement that was there sufficient guidance on thousand secure the agr building. They just basically, the secret service basically told them you guys got it, right? completely insufficient, and while they had a common radio net, they were texting each other. There wasn't a hey shooter on the roof. Get the president off the stage. All hands on deck. And the command post, when that was delivered, wasn't in the same place as the president. So, huge failings and violations of protocol, my pushback has been okay, thank you for being forthcoming, secret service, where's the accountability? who has been fired? and you know what? retiring and sailing off into the night with full government benefits is not accountability. So, on the one hand, the secret service is coming to us with their failings and addressing those going forward. The fbi on the other hand, radio silence. We still know nothing about crooks' encrypted accounts. We know nothing about how he built the ieds, we know nothing about how he was radicalized. The fact he was so quiet on the internet i think is an indicator in and of itself the same things playing out now down in florida. The secret service says, look, we should have had better drone conch of the entire perimeter. Thank god for the one agent who spotted the rifle and they're coming back to us with what they are going to fix again and they have increased resources. Once again though, the fbi radio silent, we'll let you know when we get done with our investigation that's unacceptable. We need maximum trainers right now for the american people. Laura: president trump was really cool, calm and collected today when he was asked about this. They have beefed up my protection. But, the question stands, does it not, sir, that the former president went to that golf course and there was a man somehow all on his own got from hawaii in the middle of the night, gets into those bushes perched there, there is no infrared imaging done of that perimeter. I'm still not understanding what happened with the drone. It was flown but it wasn't flown in the right area? they didn't pick him up or they didn't do it soon enough? what does it take for the secret service to actually answer simple questions, be transparent and do so expeditiously not with this big run around i will get back to you in 90 days or six months of or whatever the heck t is. Secret service shortcoming how they failed on the actual details. Referring us to the fbi in terms of any information about the shooters or their background or where they got the weapons or how they got there and that's completely unacceptable. We need to have both the fbi and the secret service and every single briefing so they can't do this. You have sitting senators who are are before a lot of this stuff started going down, pretty young conservative, pretty moderate guy. Who are saying they don't believe the fbi. They are not trusting this narrative that these are just lone wolves who somehow have like no real detailed social media that would indicate a motive. Right. Laura: in this case this guy was recruiting people from afghanistan to fight in ukraine and homeless and in the new york times and interviewed by media people and the fbi kind of knew about him but didn't follow it up. This just it stinks to high heaven to most people and can i understand why. You layer on top of that these threats from iran, ongoing plots from iran too that have been intercepted and what have you heard from biden and harris when we have an enemy of the united states trying to kill a former president and leading political candidate, you've heard nothing. Much less anything in terms of consequences to iran or any type of retribution. And so that's the piece i'm also on the intelligence committee. That's the piece i'm zeroing in on is what foreign aspect, if any is coming into play here because these are just too many coincidences. Laura: congressman, what i i would laugh if it weren't so sad and scary for our country. Not just this election and president trump's life, but for the country, the fact that we're still mulling over motives. Well, it's not clear what thomas crooks' motives were. Isn't it ipso facto you are trying to shoot the president of the united states? your motives aren't good. You were trying to do him harm. I guess you had to, you know, the situation they are really quick to say he acted alone. Laura: yeah. Right out the gate he acted alone yet we know nothing about him and, again, when we're done taking our time with the investigation, we'll let you know that's not acceptable. You tell the american people what you know when you know it. The service has been better. But the fbi is completely gone dark. And that's not acceptable given these attacks. Given the foreign threat, and given that we're, you know, 47 days out from an election. It's just totally unacceptable. If we have got to subpoena ray, i say we need to do it. They got to come clean about what is behind all of this. We needed in my view, you guys are doing the best you can but we needed like a watergate style, you know, inquiry as to how this went down. And now it's happened twice. The guy didn't get a shot off. But he got into position. For that, u. S. Secret service acting director, congressman, to say oh, well he didn't have him in his sign line the sight, like that's some, you know, some high fiving each other that we were effective. Yeah, how long would it have taken him to get into the line of sight were it not for that one agent who saw the barrel of that gun? that's right. Then and by the way, the agent was within 10 feet of him. He was incredibly close. And had he been taken out, the president came, he would have been just as close. It's literally a chip shot. My 2yearold can make that shot. Laura: well, again, it's more luck than anything else. We can't rely on luck here. We have someone's life at stake and a future of this country at stake in this election. Congressman, thank you for demanding answers. We appreciate it. Do you feel safe, mr. President? are you looking at any private security? i feel very safe. I have the top of the line people. They needed more people and now they have them. They have been given that we really have to be safe for the country. That's the most important thing to me. We have to be safe for the country. Laura: we have to be safe for the country. Even with all these outstanding questions about the two attempts on his life, look, it didn't stop trump. From being with the voters in new york. Not always the safest place. Many of the folks have the same questions that we have. There have been two assassination attempts on the former president trump over the last two months. One, are you concerned there could be a third one and number two, do you trust the government's explanation as to why these are occurring? i don't trust the government. There is no answers yet from the first attempt. They were too fishy, both of them. Too easy to get to him. I actually worry for his family. Should never have happened it. Did happen. There are no explanations behind it. I'm very concerned. I believe god is behind him and, yes, i do worry about a third attempt. Unfortunately, i am concerned about it, but he is going to be here. We are all here, we stand with trump, we believe in trump, and we don't back down. We don't let terrorists or anyone run our lives. We're americans. President trump he is fighting for us and every day he risks his life for our benefit. Laura: wow. Joining me now florida senator marco rubio vice chair of the senate intel committee. Senator, i don't know if you caught anything of what congressman waltz just said after that hearing today, but he has a lot of questions about potential state actors being involved in these assassination attempts as we somehow know very little about either individual, despite the fact that there are these red flags, especially with this last attempt with mr. Routh. Yeah. I don't think when you are investigating something like this you can rule anything out. I don't think can you determine it until you have all the evidence. You can't rule it out. What is known is a fact and iran has said it openly. They intend to assassinate mike pompeo and donald trump and other people in revenge for soleimani. We know that as a fact. They have said it. We have had people arrested for plotting that in the united states. When they do it not when they do it but not going to try to do it by sending some yawn ran. Criminal organization or somebody who doesn't know who is paying them. They will spot them. This person is a whack job, if you pay him enough money stir him up. I'm not claiming that is what happened here. None of these things can be ruled out definitively. We may not know right away. What we do know there a nation stated that wants to take his life. The biden administration has been negotiating with them over a nuclear deal up until recently even in the midst of all of this. That's the moment you get up and walk away and say look, we are not dealing with you guys. You are trying to assassinate americans in america. If you know that risk exists the sciewrstd around. You can't just be the security of a presidential candidate. It has to be security of a presidential candidate that has been demonized by his political opponents called a hitler. Called american dictator. But, also, who has a nation state ha is actively trying to assassinate him as soon as they can. That's the kind of security profile that person has to have. Laura: well, apparently, they have up you had the security and it's seems to be now presidential level. To your point about to your point about iran. Out today, that the fbi says iran sent hacked trump info to the biden campaign. That came out at 6:46 p. M. Tonight. So, a lot of questions out there, senator. Especially given the danger to president trump and now we have information that, you know, they are out there taking this information and, perhaps, taking other action. The iranian regime does not want donald trump to be president. And they don't want him alive. Those two things are true. So any time someone goes after him we have to assume they are behind something. Laura: senator, we are going to dip into president trump. No, that's good. Laura: thank you so much. Thank you. Got within a few hundred yards where i stood, thankfully our outstanding secret service agent and they are outstanding spot the barrel of his rifle in the bushes. Can you believe that? can you believe that he saw a barrel this was a big barrel. This was you don't even want to talk about ak47. But he saw the barrel coming out a little bit out of the very lush bushes and he took fast action to stop the gunman before i even entered the line of sight. I want to express my thanks to the u. S. Secret service who was there that day and to all of the sheriffs and law enforcement down in florida. The heroes who helped to to apprehend the attacker. And by the way you possibly heard the story secret service agent pulled out gun and started shooting. How are you sir? what would you like to talk about? would you like to talk about the barrel? no, he pulled 00 gun and he started shooting at him. And the villain, no, but think of this. This could only happen with a woman because men aren't smart enough. I hate to tell you, fellows. So, he dropped his gun. His car was a block away, and he started running because the they had him. And he was running, running, running, and a woman driving a car, innocently, says he looks like a bad person to me. He looks very suspicious. And she followed him and pulled up to the back of the car. [cheers] and started taking pictures of his license plate. Can you believe that? and she took the pictures of his license plate perfect, beautiful pictures like a professional recover from. Photographer andsent them to a. I just looked at a man there was something strange going on. Who the hell would do that? right? only a woman. Only a woman. [cheers] i asked the sheriff today, i said so, sheriff, if you had a thousand events, how many people would have done that? man or woman, how many people would have done that, followed him, taken pictures of the license plate and also the type of truck that he was driving? he said maybe none. She is a hero. I got to meet her. [cheers] and because of that, they were then able to catch him in a very speedy drive down the various highways in florida, but they got him and they got him fast. But i think it's incredible. So the agent and that wonderful woman. With all of my heart i thank you all for your incredible valor. What you have done is incredible. What the people of our country and law enforcement does in this country is incredible. Tonight, let me also deliver a message straight to kamala harris. Have you heard of her? [crowd boos] who by the way was just rated by far the most liberal senator in the u. S. Senate, more so even further left than bernie sanders and pocahontas. Pocahontas. She is more so. Elizabeth warren, she is more left than bernie sanders or elizabeth warren. Let me also deliver a message straight to kamala harris, the radical left democrat politicians and the fake news media. Look how many are there. [crowd boos] [crowd boos] we have got to get our media back in this country. We got to get them back. But the message is it's time to stop the lies. They delivered all that concrete for those buildings i built in new york. They delivered the big heavy those beautiful trucks have you ever seen, they delivered the concrete and all those buildings i built in new york. But, you know, this hasn't happened in so many decades, we won the overwhelming majority of the local chapters. And the members and as a result, the national organization has refused to endorse the democrat candidate for the first time in many, many decades. And i also want to thank teamsters president sean o'brien, amazing man. And all of the incredible rank and file teamsters across the country because this was a surprise. It's automatic. They endorse the democrats. Automatic for many, many decades. But, you know what? they said they looked at her and they said we're not going there. I'm sorry. These are tough people. And together we will secure our borders, we will protect our workers. We will defend our jobs. We will rebuild our country with american skill and american pride. And american labor. Right? and just as you a little side note, we should give them a round, especially because of what they and how they voted today. If they voted the other way i wouldn't give them a round. We have encampments, horrible, disgusting, encampments of junkies and homeless people living in places that our children used to the play little league baseball. [crowd booze] which they don't get to play anymore, do they. The past three years in new york city there has been 29% increase in robbery. A 36% increase in felony assault. A 42% increase in grand larceny. A 75% increase in carjackings. Buy a nice car lately? well while 200 police officers leave, the nypd, new york's finest, i always say. I knew it well. New york's finest. They leave every single month. 200 people a month. Incredible people. They are incredible people. The trains and subways are scwawrld and unsafe. The median of our highway, all those medians they spend all that money, they are falling down, they are rotting. Businesses are fleeing, the mobs of illegal migrants are being put up in luxury hotels at your expense while our great veterans live on the freezing or steaming sidewalks right outside the main entrance to where the migrants enter their hotel. Think of that think of it. We have veterans lying on the street squalor, lie on the street. Sometimes freezing, sometimes it's hot. It's summer. And they are looking at people come in just came into our country and they are requesting upped to the 17th floor of their suite. How crazy has our country become? and can you imagine ima veterans when they watch this must be saying? listen to this. Can you also imagine what the migrants must be thinking. They are saying can you believe this we just came from a place in many cases they were in prisons, and now they are living in hotel suites while our veterans are living on the street. [crowd boos. [and? so i say to the people of new york with crime at record levels, with terrorists and criminals pouring in, and with inflation eating your hearts out, vote for donald trump. And i'm saying boy, that's really terrible. And said i was at like 2%. Not too good. And i said to the black population, gathered in front of me. Vote for trump. What the hell do you have to lose? i said that. Same thing? and do you know what happened? i got eviscerated when i went back stage. I went back stage but i'm not like biden where he takes i with my people. Remember, we still sign the check. Sir, that's a terrible thing to have said. I said what the hell do you have to lose? it's terrible. It's demeaning. It's horrible. I said but it's true. Do you know what happened? the next day i picked up 10 points with the black popu population. [applause] and now, because of all we have done, we're at the highest level of black support in the history of the republican party. [cheers] by the way the hispanic support. Do we have any hispanics? the hispanic support is off the charts and they don't know what the hell to do about it. It's off the charts. And we just had some great polling come out. I think the most accurate poll over the last 8 or 9 years was rasmussen. They just came out with a poll that we are 5 up. We are 5 up. 5 up. We should be 35 up to be honest with you. You know, some people can't break an old habit. That's really what it is. So i say to you vote for trump and i will turn it around very quickly with four more years of kamala harris, new york state will be like a third world nation if it isn't already. It is. I think it is. With trump the empire state will once again be the envy of the entire world. We have no crime, only success. And unlike your current radical democrat regime, i'm not driven bipartisan ideology, i'm driven by results. And i'm driven by new york common sense. It's common sense, right? right? i like to say the party, this is a great party. I like to say the party we are conservative and all that, right? who knows? we are really people with common sense. We need walls, we need good elections. We want low taxes. We want great police officers that are welltaken care of. We don't want to defund the police wire the party of common sense more than anything else. It's picked up a lot of steam. It's true. My first week back in the oval office, i will clean up and call up your governor and mayors, all across your state and i will tell them it's time to work together. They are largely democrats. It's time to work together for the good of the people going to do it. And despite all of the persecution i have endured from the corrupt judicial system in new york, it's a corrupt system, i love the people of this state, and i want to give back. I want to give back to you. I have had a great life. I want to give back to you. We will give it back to you. We will make this city and we are going to make this state incredible again. Together we will rebuild our roads, bridges, highways and airports. They are falling apart. They are falling down. We will renovate new york subway. Oh, i used to go school on the subway. Can you believe it? i mean, i like to say it's not so long ago but it probably is what do you think, bruce? i guess it is. But, my parents would drop me off at the subway and i would go union turnpike or i would go to wherever i they had no fear that i was going to be disappearing. They would take nia subway. Put me on and say bi, darling, bi. Bye. If you do that today you have a 75% chance that you will never see your child again. What the hell has happened here? what has happened? we'll renovate the new york subway so that the greatest city in the world finally has, again, the greatest transit system anywhere in the world. You have the basics we have to clean and it take care of it and give it love and get the criminals the hell out of there. [cheers] we will once again support our incredible police officers, new york's finest. A lot of them. You know, i have got the support of to me this is so important. To you i think it's important. Every single police group in the nation is supporting me. The other day the fraternal order it's the largest. They gave us 400,000 police and they gave us a unanimous endorsement. We have it from everybody. We have it from everybody. We will work with the mayors and the governor to rebuild your defunded and depleted police forces including new york's finest and nypd. Look, i know so much about i love new york's finest. I used to be in brooklyn. I had an office with my father in brooklyn. And we used to go in brooklyn to a white castle. Did anyone ever hear of a white castle? [cheers] and my father would say no, that's the best place. Only 12 cents a hamburger, remember, 12 cents. Bruce. How good is bruce. Blakeman, one of the greatest. He wanted an upset. You know, this was another this is a republican. He ran a couple of times. You couldn't beat this hoax of democrats. He ended up winning. You know jonathan diller? i was hoping his family could be with us. He was just 31 years old. Gunned down during a traffic stop by a vicious thug leaving behind his incredible wife, stephanie and family. And family, their 1yearold son, what a son. And are you here? are they here? they could be here. Is stephanie here? because, you know, it was a bond and she was so great. And i think she is here. It's hard when you have 19,000 people. [cheers] and stephanie, unlike a lot of my friends, doesn't want adulation, honestly, what she wants she wants her husband back. That's what she wants. She doesn't want adulation. I have other friends. You will find them. I have other friends if you said their name. They would be jumping up, here i am. Here i am. Stephanie doesn't want that. What a great family. What a great family. What a great guy he was. Criminal charge was savagery murdering officer diller. Previously arrested by the nypd 21 times, right? 21 times, bruce 14 he was actually far more vicious. You know the first thing that happened is she will go defunding the police, if that's even possible to think about. When i get back into the oval office, the madness ends and the law and order is going to return to our country. A fully reformed federal department of justice will deliver massive public safety funding for new york and other democratrun cities that are under siege. But in exchange they will give our police back their protection and their respect. We are going to take care of our police and we are going to respect our police. Everyone here does. Tell the officers all the time. You have no idea how the people love you but sometimes they don't feel it because of what the democrats do to them. They will end deadly sanctuary city policies. They will terminate cashless bail and they will return to proven policing methods like we had under mayor rudy giuliani that made new york city the safest big city in america. Simultaneously we are going to make life in new york state affordable again. Little word, affordable. A vote for kamala harris is a vote for four more years of job losses. Look at what is happening. Businesses fleeing, money draining out of your state and hundreds of thousands sucking your resources dry. I have always heard from 20 years i have heard that new york city has no money. Yet, they are going to spend $3 billion on illegal migrants. And they are not getting it from the federal government. You wonder they never had money but they have $3 billion to take care of people that came into our country illegally. Doesn't make sense. Cut energy prices in half 12 months. Half, because we have more liquid gold under our feet that we don't use it. We go places like venezuela when we have more than russia, we have more than saudi arabia, you remember i got in enw inwar app. What did they do the first week in office anwar. What is happening here in the empire state? well, i mean, first of all i think he believes he has a real chance to carry new york because of the corruption, because of the liberal policies and because of the impact of all those millions of illegal immigrants and the crime that has followed. And, of course, now you have a major scandal in new york city evening the mayor and that's breaking at the worst possible timtime for democrats, i think that's part of it. This is guy who has twice avoided being killed. Now, when you get through absorbing that, you have sort of a tremendous adrenaline rush because, you know, reagan, when he met with pope john paul ii, they had both been shot. And they both survived. And they talked about what did god intend for them? and i guess is that president trump now has a deeper sense of a mission and a deeper sense of having to do what's right for america because it's providential that he is still here. Certainly in the shooting at butler, came within half inch of kill him. Had the agent not found the sniper, he might well have killed him i think the president has a sense that he is going to live his life out, is he going to take the risk. And liberates him. I thought he would talk more about policy tonight than i have heard in a long time. Which i think is good for him. On policy choices, he will literally annihilate kamala harris if that's how the rest of the campaign goes. Laura: newt, i love the fact he reminded everyone what a great state new york is. Place of innovation, the best architecture, the ports, everything about new york was leading the nation. In fact, at a time, leading the world. And so he said i will work with democrats, independents, i will work with anyone to restore this state. That is the kind of rhetoric that i think a lot of independent voters, a lot of women have been waiting to hear directly from him and boy, i mean he took his he took whoever is marching orders on that and he was on it tonight, period, end of story. Newt? look, i think, look, he loves the state. He loves the city. He spent most of his life there. I think he has a very deep, deep affection. For new york. Both in the city and across the whole state. And i think he also fi feels ths is a divine moment in the sense that we could really turn the country around. Trump was upbeat catch joyous but he did something kamala harris has been having difficulty doing. With her it's all the personal narrative.
