>> laura: i think we lost victor, we'll try to get him back. you went to the ivy league, that is not what i'm saying. these are important institutions, we want establishment that is competent and talented, we want an establishment people can look up to, not just academic credentials, but their character. across the board, our establishment has failed us. out of three university presidents who testified last week, two are clinging to their title, they have yet to resign. they have not been fired. mit whipped out statement supporting sally cornbluff after depends on the context comment. you will have to step in for victor davis hanson, that is not easy. is firing the mit president enough to get at what is going on at the university? >> absolutely not. start with saying from a student perspective, my objective is that the school enforces their own rules, that is what matters. if the way this needs to happen is get rid of the mit corporation who endorsed the president and said her actions were excellent, senior administration supportive and toxic dei who continue to gaslight us and tell us everything is okay and disciplinary procedure is moving forward even though we know they are not. so be it, if all these people need to go, if that is whatta needs to happen, that is what needs to happen. >> laura: i think the fact 700 harvard professors rallied to claudine gay is perhaps even a worse indictment of harvard than her original comments. it is mind-blowing. >> unfortunately we saw the same thing at mit, we got a letter supporting the president and continue to gaslight us. >> laura: they know they are all on the chopping block if this thing goes the way it should be. then bloom is off the rose. not that they are not smart and talented people, of course they are, great students. this dei thing morphed and the antisemitism is just the latest of what they are. so jonathan, on this point, your reaction to the rallying around the presidents here. >> jonathan: thank you for having me. i think the issue is a bit more complex, but the university still not apologized for what underlied their testimony in congress. so they're standing behind and all professors are standing behind free speech and i personally, as well as you, believe free speech is critical to the united states and it might be critical for america. but that being said, if the university has a double standard when it comes to free speech and doesn't endorse conduct, so many things are happening that are conduct not speech, tearing down posters, chanting in student faces and restricting their movement. that is conduct, not speech. there are potential title six violation and the university is not using their own speech until they are on the hot seat. freedom of speech and freedom of expression is important, that is not a defense here, that is for me upsetting. >> laura: mit and harvard, i went to dartmouth. i didn't care, i was 19. it was a battleground back then and every decade, it has gotten worse. idea there is free speech on campus, everyone is self-censoring, mit, harvard, dartmouth, same across the board. hold on, we're going to get back to you. victor davis hanson has his audio back. i almost couldn't hear you, it was so brilliant. this issue of freedom of expression and how the left is trying to cloak itself, how does that holdup?
