investigations into his son's foreign business dealings have been heating up. house or rub the leaders are expected to vote on tuesday on it i measure to formally launch impeachment inquiry into the president even though officials admit there's no direct evidence tying him to any illegal foreign payments. in the meantime hunter biden and died for the second time special counsel david weiss investigation hunter it now facing federal tax charges. on top of federal gun charge much more on hunter biden's cases and the looming potential impeachment inquiry in just a moment. ask first were going to start at the southern border were agents keep streaming migrants excuse me keep streaming into the county into this country in record numbers were agents in tucson, arizona said they have close to 19000 new arrivals in just one week. this is the highest a seven-dayy total ever arizona democratic governor is calling out washington's quote failure and in action for it hello everyone welcome to "fox news live" i am arthel neville. let's hello everyone thank you for joining us on the saturday i am eric shawn. arizona governor katie hobbs is visiting the border town of luke will, arizona yesterday she wrote to president biden asking for half a billion dollars to reimburse the states that it has spent on the looming migrant crisis. she also wants a president to reassign about 240 national guardsmen to a point of entry it was closed this week when a search of hundreds of migrant men totally maxed out resources there. texas we are seeing more of the same in this crisis agent in the del rio sector making more than 3000 arrests a day take a look we are told a migrant flagged aa sex offender was handcuffed with a nonstop flood of that shows no other signs of lit up retired sector border per chief sector line will be with the straightahead first will go live on the ground in the sector with the very latest on what is going on right now. hey graph. >> eric, good afternoon them in numbers continued to surge and break records you mentioned 3000 in this area in the del rio sector eagle pass where i am being hit hardest. they had it not one day, not two days but three days this week that more than 3003 let me show you the group right now is being processed. this is what remains about 40 or 50 migrants of what was within 5500 there for the last several hours. they are being processed before process beforethey go to the hoh notices to appear what you are looking at is from venezuela but we just introduce the audience at last hour we showed her a picture of a woman what it one month old baby she gave birth in the gap. we shot this that was an individual that processing i they do on site away from that of sexual assault of a child they have it on a near daily basis a few hours ago that is significant and have not had haitians for a few years you remember what that of the bridge and del rio. this is a group of haitians giving these agents attention we have not seen let's go to arizona to a lukeville you see another ground zero epicenter chief of patrol putting these numbers up we can show you the tweet 18900. eight record we have never had that many since last we broke the record was 17500. this is a situation of what's happening on the border in texas. that is the situation they're in arizona that is where governor hobbs a democrat is in a five or 12 billion-dollar bill to the biden administration demanding immediate action. by the way if the president or vice president harris or secretary wants to come down here a they will see the situatn they will see another thing. i want to point out i spent the majority of the past year in eagle pass in september, october back in december i know about these agents i recognize them they are numb they're otheir overwhelmedtheir having a migrants and transport migrants all day long. almost all of them on the shift and that is not what they're hired to do they dedicate their lives to protect the border and instead they're doing processing because so many are coming and numbers that are not showing any signs of slowing down. we will send it back to you provokes what griff live at the border thank you. arthel: right now will bring in retired border patrol chief krista clement worked at the yuma sector and arizona. so chief, we get it is a biden administration failure. if you could explain why is this possibility more migrants into arizona without shelter is a consideration is there no other solution rex thanks for having me and i'm glad you continue to cover this issue. it is been going on now for three years. look our border patrol stations are overwhelmed. look at the numbers at the tucson post that is crazy. we are at law enforcement facilities meant for short-term hold not for immigration long-term attention. when a border patrol's reach capacity and they have no other room and there's no more space in a nice detention facility because this administration has restricted that they ended contractor facilities they have no other choice but to release people because the flow keeps coming and that puts again a continuous strain on the drain e committees. i dealt with that for two years tucson is dealing with it and all across the country. at least the southwest border whether it's texas, or arizona, or michigan you are going to see this problem if we do not get the salt right away. the five you know arizona governor wrote a letter to president biden asking him to reimburse her state some five or $12 million spent on this border crisis and to immediately move 243 national guard soldiers who were already assigned to the tucson region to the port of entry which governor hobbs said should be reopened i will read a sentence from the governor's letter. it says the recent decision to close the lukeville port of entry has led to an unmitigated humanitarian crisis in the area and has put arizona at safety and commerce at risk. so chief, i ask you now should governor hobbs be given broader authority to assist border patrol? and, is there a way to temporarily close the border for migrant processing and keeping it open for day workers? >> first of all i commend her for finally being down there on the border and addressing his head on. i will tell you that we spoke with her team. i spoke with her team during the transition. all of the issues they are facing today we explained to that. it is a shame it's taken this long but i commend her for writing those stern letters and demanding action. the national guard are very limited what they can do. it's a policy problem let's a flash back a few years and realized when governor richardson both democratic governors declared a state of emergency. is not a party issue it's an american issue. the governors are impacted by this at all across the country need to focus their energy on administration for change of the policy and avoiding this kind of chaos. as far as open the ports of entry that is not taking -- to close one is not taken lightly. that's an economic impact everybody to the state, to the citizens. i commend her again this is a broader issue that comes down the need to say enough's enough. this is not the role it's not their responsibility. they can only do so much it's a the flow the flow has to stop mexico has to step up. it all comes out of washington leading the charge. arthel: the national guard is not the answer. who could help your agents down there at your former colleagues down there? >> washington d.c. can help by changing the policies and stopping this. the guard can do. arthel: excuse me chief, i understand that. we can talk about policy all day long. right now we have a crisis that the governor is saying will lead to unmitigated humanitarian crisis on -- i am asking at the national guard is not the answer temporarily, what is the answer? i would also like you to answer the question about what about closing the border to migrant processing and keeping it open for day workers not to kill the economy? >> well, so you're conflating a couple issues here. the short term answer is we need to close a board down and steal those gaps. put something there to keep it from coming in. free up our agent so they could do the enforcement paid national guard can sit there and they can deter but it's very difficult they don't have the authorities to make the arrest injured people back. as far as keeping the port of entry open they can free that up and search resources from around the country. but at the end of the date has to come back to that we have to secure the border. we have to fill those gaps that were left open we have to free our agents up so they can go after the bad actors that are running people through there. and as far as the ports of entry go, they should be left open for the need to put people in place to help out from around the country to a shot to the traffic down and force everything back to the lawful pathways but keep the train travel and commerce going. if i may understand the national guard there limited in terms of what they could do but there's always executive orders to free them up temporarily at least to solve this or help solve this issue to seal the border if they could. i thank you for clarifying that. so, before we go i just want to make sure heard you correctly that yes keep the borders open for economic purposes. but yes, seal the borders immediately so that we can get some sort of handle on the crisis that is happening there, did you say that? >> i did say that. we need to seal the gaps were we knewbut resources down theree sure they can't get through walk up and give themselves up to inundate border patrol because that is the reason why some these other things are happening because our agents are hands are tied. strictly controlled by the cartel were people coming through and now we are seeing impact the economic and commerce it's coming in when you shut down a port of entry if it was a simple solution i would've thought it would have gotten done long time ago but it is complex. it is people it has been politicized and unfortunately that is the problem we need to get everybody together to say seal the border, secure the border we have agents that do their job and let's get this addressed through proper legislation and legal pathways. >> are going to kill the benme benefitthe short answer hd the people of arizona the residents of arizona, how did they brace for this? >> they have been dealing with this for a couple years. the last two years when i was in yuma we dealt with at the community had to step up they continue to step up and it shifted back to tucson. all of their local resources the shelter resources are all being expended this is a federal problem that has been admired from washington and not fixed it's impacting everybody here in the state of arizona and across the country. arthel: retired yuma secretary border chief thank you very much for joining us. >> you got it, thank you. eric: to the race for president three hopefuls running in iowa today florida governor desantis and vivek ramaswamy are there at fivfive weeks ahead of the firsn the nation iowa caucus. the candidate speaking at an event featuring congressman randy veenstra looking for an endorsement outside of his faith and family event today contended 30 push-ups and you want to reach young people to attend the carcass on his behalf meanwhile i will republican governor tim reynolds and evangelical leader van bob vander platts have endorsed governor desantis in this race. he's not and i would back in new york city's going to give a keynote speech tonight at the new york young or public an annual it's expected to take the stand in his new york civil trial of the trump real estate empire correc the second time t. fifty-eight page federal indictment within a million dollars in taxes alexandria hoff has the details. >> hi arthel but with special counsel david weiss is hoping to prove the fact hunter biden could easily paid his taxes but chose not too. instead is spending lavishly on women, drugs, cars, so on. nine tax -related charges were filed he i it's a president sunn thursday. three of those felonies. the government alleges the president son failed to pay at least a $1.4 million in taxes. under biden's lead attorney weighed in yesterday. >> is well stated many times that at the depths of his addiction something american families have somebody either in their family or they know, is not behavior he is proud of. but it does not make him into a type of felon. >> he also stated his client has been unfairly targeted because of his last name. republicans argue the biden name is why it took so long for an indictment like this to come about. here's fox news legal analyst professor jonathan turley. >> they certainly likely to finish on the tax issues largely because they lost a few felonies by allowing the statute of limitations to run on payments stretching back to 2013, 2014. >> a prior probation only agreement fell apart in july after delaware judge questioned what republicans called a sweetheart deal br but house oversight committee james comer reacted to the indictment stating quote less u.s. to turn it weiss investigates everyone involved in the biden's fraud schemes and influence peddling it will be cleared president cln d.o.j. is protecting hunter biden and at the big guy. these latest tax charges are on top of federal gun charges the president son is facing out of dell over the younger biden pleaded not guilty to those in october. arthel: alright alexandria hoff thank you. president biden gets more bad news in the polls. how is that affecting his hollywood house democrats the charges only been helping former president trail. trump. the shocking new federal indictment in california of the president son, hunter over unpaid taxes? that is adding fuel to fire. visor to jd vance managing director strategies joint is now on this. what is the impact of this new tax case? it took a lot of people by surprise and pretty stunning in its revelations. >> it is there's a few different places where it sensitive has impacted on the mainstream media who have tried to hide this. he tried to shove the story under the rug f for couple of years now. there's extra some meat on the bones here there is salacious details. the biggest impact for biden is we have a crisis like this and you're doing a campaign you try to say it go and to extend the story? and stonewall and said there's nothing here and then burned out by itself? we address it head on. they chose the former and its burning the white house badly for this is a president that now has 60% disapproval rating 60% hard number to overcome a general election court based upon court they negative story upon a negative story having an impact on this race. eric: hunter it was a guest on the singers podcast he said it's all political he used an expletive to describe republicans we will not play that but here's part of what he >> they are trying to destroy a presidency. and so it's not about me. their most basic way, what they are trying to do is they are trying to kill me knowing that it will be a pain greater then my father could be able to handle. and so therefore destroying a presidency. >> what is your reaction to that defensive is? >> first, his podcast is certainly a choice. here's the thing. the clip you just played before the break was playing the sympathy card trying to get folks on his side. drug addiction is a real tragedy we all know that. here you got hunter biden going on where the most liberal's anger podcast attack and the other side. it seems like a big conflict in the public opinion i don't think's going to play out very well for him because he attack by name some of the republican stars it's listen to what he said about that. >> absolute positively if you did not look at some of these people like marjorie taylor marjorie taylorgreene or paul ae that have been bullied, that are absently suffering, they are suffering people. they do not in any way excuse the things they have done to others see people in anguish they are not healthy people for. >> he has attack and the other side he says this is all political in terms of a legal manner does not hold any water? >> i am not a lawyer but it certainly does not seemed like a holds water on the legal front but on the political front it definitely does. he is out that you cannot be the victim and attacked the other side as well too. one of the other problems for joe biden on this is one of their biggest storylines going into the general election is the other guy has been indicted. the other guys legal problems. this conflates all of this. the other guys in the same kind of thing to the whole family. they are on the take as well but the longer this goes on which we know it's going to go on for a long time now. eric: and to legally clarify people would say they are on the take as well. we have not had any formal charge about them. there has not been any allegation about that. in fact the evidence official said there is no direct evidence tying the president enter hunter biden's business benefiting from his business. they are for his pickup truck and here is the former prosecutor and democratic congressman saying there's no connection between a potus and hunters business. but from your point of view, despite that for some people this all gets mixed up into the same type of thing? >> i don't think for some people think for the majority of americans there's one a bucket about d.c. politics how the business is run. legal or joe biden conducted in a crimes investigation we will see. it's in the court of public opinion and your try to get the moderates and you're trying to get joe biden's approval, his disapproval rating below 60% to around 40 or 35, that's when she really hard to do when everyone thanks they're all the same in d.c. that is just a problem for this campaign. so were probably from a political point of view of public perception point of view do you think it would serve hunter biden like pick a place and get out? and disappear? >> for joe biden has to support his son we have to understand that. he needs a story to go away the pundits of us to focus on the other things are going so well are other things like that to have a lot of problems in the selection for hunter biden is something he doesn't need. >> right now it looks like hunter biden is looking at the defense table in the criminal trial at the same time while his father is running for reelection. what a year. always good to see a thank you for joining us "fox news live." thank you. president biden in los angeles this weekend to raise cash for his reelection campaign. while a new wall street journal poll shows his approval rating hitting yet another new lope meanwhile the president has yet to comment on his son hunter's second indictment which comes as republicans are set for tuesday vote on formalizing their impeachment inquiry into the president. lucas of tomlinson is light at the white house with all the details. >> before it that indictment was released, hunter biden speaking on a podcast said these attacks against him resemble russian interference. >> this may not in every aspect be russian disinformation campaign but it literally has every earmark of what the russians did. >> here's karl rove earlier this morning on fox responding to the indictment against hunter and reminding viewers where hunter's money came from. >> the president said my son is done nothing wrong. did not pay his taxes. i never discuss its business activities with him, maybe you should have when he went on the board a company in ukraine run by a corrupt oligarch with ties to moscow and you were in charge of u.s. policy regarding corruption in ukraine maybe you should have said maybe you should find another way to make a living whole from our colleagues at the wall street journal show biden losing to trump and head to head ma magic 43 -- 47. ron desantis 17 points higher in the pool. spoke in las vegas about taxes. >> that with the poor have a shot, the middle class do wellin the wealthy still do wellin fact they should be paying a lot more taxes that's another issue. >> we do not think the president was think with time but his son for it house republicans you mentioned house republicans will be meeting this week to vote on a potential impeachment inquiry they also want to see hunter biden testify before them on wednesday. >> well, based on the wall street journal poll it seems like nikki haley maybe she is the one we will be discussing over the months to come. lucas tomlinson thank you. >> the israeli military calling for an evacuation near gaza second largest city now that is the idf is pressing ahead with its campaign to completely destroy the israeli mother. she learned of her husband's killing one day after returning home in a prisoner hostage exchange. >> now my daughter has to work at putting her life together. and i think she is up to life altering injuries covering the war in ukraine is launching a new weekly podcast. it highlights inspiring stories of community and compassion from everyday people making a difference in the lives of others. the podcast is entitled searching for heroes with benjamin hall rejoins me now with a preview. henchmen always great to see it. i want to jump right in and ask you what can we expect for your podcast? >> like you were just saying last year end a half has been life-changing for me really bad injuries. that's not what i remember when i look back over the last year end a half. do not remove or the bad parts. i remember the heroes, the great people that make you stronger and tell you keep walking on keep being strong that's what this podcast is about that's all those people they are everywhere they are all across america thethere in every community evey industry we need to be reminded about them in my podcast is going to shed light on some of them. all of them have generally gone through something that's difficult a really hard life-changing operation or seen something tragic. but they picked themselves up and they turn it around and make some thing positive out of it. all of them have gone on to change lives to make people feel better. i think right now during christmas is a time most of us, many of us are having a great time but many are having a difficult time right now. i hope this podcast can also shed some light to people like that as well. this is a way of giving back for all the goodness that's happened to me over the last year end a half it. i hope those enjoy it. >> as you said, benjamin episode one is out now. it's very personal. you are taking us on your remarkable and extraordinary journey over the last couple of years after that near fatal attack by a russian bomb while you are recovering the ukraine or. march of 2022 and again you said this is what sparked the idea for this podcast. it let's us into a bit of it right now. >> i would say that i've seen a more incredible resilience and strength in war it that i have out of it. and again a reminder i hope we will focus on this podcast that no matter how bad it is you have to find a way through. arthel: did report recording episode would provide further personal healing for you? >> it did absolutely. i've spoken quite a lot about what's happened to me. more than episode one it's the other episodes. we sit down opposite someone is on something similar, you bounce ideas off each of the debts of the podcast is going to be about. sometimes it's only talking to people of gone through things like that you help understand what happens yourself as well. so yes, the podcast is quite personal as well for myself and i think for our guests. that is true. as i said in the clip you just played, in war you often find some remarkable things bravery, courage, sense of brotherhood that you do not see elsewhere. many of the people i will be speaking to our in the military have served in the military as well so we have that angle in it as well. and it like i said i feel part of the brotherhood now of people who have come together to help me and that's what i want to pass on. arthel: heroes of course, and all shapes, sizes, colors and genders. what is the common characteristic of heroes? >> it is really, really interesting. i have asked every single dr. who has treated me, what is it that makes some people resilient? why do some people not have that resiliency? i will tie the one thing they all agree on they all think is key it is family. they say the people who come out of the stronger are those surrounded by family, surrounded by people who encourage them, help them build their community up. it reminds us that community is so important spirit does not just have to be family at your brothers if you know someone having a difficult time go ask him what's going on if you can help. that is what makes people strong you say heroes but no one i've spoken to consider themselves a hero. they are modest people who want to go make the world a better place i picked the words hero that's the way i see them but none of them would use that word. >> understood it. this is extraordinary and looking forward to it. good to see you as always it benjamin hall your family is extraordinary. i want to tell you happy christmas about that one? >> and to you to arthel. all the best you yours as well. >> thank you, nice to see a by the way the podcast searching for heroes with benjamin hall is between 20 and 40 minutes new episodes will be released every sunday at 3:00 p.m.
