footage is released showing hostages held nearly seven weeks held by hamas taken back to israeli soil. 13 hostages headed home, the first wave headed into gaza and into the hands of the international red cross and egyptian officials. getting to see a chance to see loved ones, some young ones are unaware their parents are dead. >> john roberts and sandra smith have the day off. special edition of "america reports," a live look at the petunia checkpoint in the west bank, prisoners are expected to be reunited with families. 13 israelis have been freed under the israel-hamas deal and the egyptian state information service says ten thai nationals and one filipino have also been released in a completely separate deal. according to the idf, israeli special forces are with hostages who underwent medical checks inside israel. >> this is the moment the hostages crossed back home into israel. and the country and those around the world were able to at least for a moment cheer their return. arthel has more. adam. >> adam helped negotiate the abraham accords is standing by to weigh in on the hostage release, lucas tomlinson will have the president's reaction, president biden, to the release of the hostages. jeff paul has more on the identities of hostages released. alex hogan is live near tel aviv where the youngest hostages are expected to be treated. but first, trey yingst is live in southern israel where for the 13 hostages, the first stop on the road home, trey. >> hey, arthel, good afternoon. for the 13 israelis, headed here to the air base in southern israel where they will receive further medical treatment and then go on to hospitals in the central part of the country. a day of anticipation for the israeli people, waiting to find out any information if this deal would move forward. 7:00 a.m. local time a ceasefire in effect, and the israeli military ready to receive the hostages. they are escorted by special forces, along with the intelligence forces. 13 people, women and children, taken into gaza on october 7th, exchanged for 24 female palestinian prisoners and 15 male palestinian teenagers. hours since the ceasefire went into effect. other than a few rocket, it has been quiet. and we do anticipate the first of four days of releases for these hostages. the israelis do expect to get back 50 people as part of a larger deal that was negotiated by the qataris. but what we can report, 13 israelis are back in israeli territory after crossing from egypt earlier today. back to you. >> trey, no doubt this is a moment of relief for those families of the 13 hostages that have been released. it is still a bittersweet moment, because we have more than 200 people still being held hostage. but there we saw when they were transferred into the hands of red cross to be processed and taken good care of, we expect. there is a moment of cheering. what's the mood like, the anticipation of what's to come? >> absolutely. there is a sense here on the ground in israel that each and every one of these hostages represents the israeli people, represents the collective trauma that this country has suffered since october 7th. nearly 50 days of war, and when we look at the faces of these hostages that were released today, they are individuals with family members and loved ones that have been waiting for nearly seven weeks for any answers. i think of the young 9-year-old boy who when it was his birthday in late october we talked about him, and he celebrated his birthday in captivity, in hamas territory. and today he's back in israel, not just alone, though, he was released with his mother and grandmother. so many families breathing a sigh of relief and others waiting for answers about their loved ones, more than 200 people still being held inside gaza and this agreement is incredibly delicate because each and every hour that passes there is that possibility that the ceasefire is broken. and in the past, hamas has used these opportunities to play psychological games with israel amid these conflicts. so we are looking at an unprecedented event. the negotiations are happening at a level never before seen in the region and part of the reason every day is unpredictable. and the list of hostages released tomorrow by hamas has not yet been delivered. it has gone past the deadline. so each and every day is its own event. today still israelis waiting to get updates about the 13 that were released, but what we understand, the majority of them are in stable condition. they will receive medical treatment, not just physical but also psychological, to make sure that they are mentally ok in all of this. but tonight again, israel is celebrating in part because they know there will be difficult days of war ahead and uncertain days ahead but they have 13 of their fellow citizens home. >> kevin: you can understand why there might be celebrate and yet curious about skepticism. you mentioned deadlines going by. is there a healthy amount of skepticism about the future of more deals, about this idea of pausing, will that rearm or perhaps give reprieve to hamas? >> yeah, it's a great, great question, kevin. when we poll the average israeli and ask what they think about the ceasefire, people have mixed feelings. they have been waiting for hostages to come home. there is a bring them home campaign across the country and see people wearing dog tags, putting signs in their windows, they are tying yellow ribbons to their cars trying to raise awareness and in the forefront of people's minds the hostages being held. but there are thousands of israeli infantry and special troops on the ground in gaza holding territory this hour and they know the ceasefire will put them at a disadvantage, give hamas and islamic jihad the opportunity to reorganize and ship weapons and fighters around so they can attack when the war does resume in a matter of days. there is no reporting and no indication from the officials that we talked to on the ground that this ceasefire will be anything but temporary. this will be a lull in the fighting, an opportunity to use diplomatic channels to get as many hostages out as possible and then going back to battle. israeli officials understand this war is not over. there are still hostages inside gaza and they have not yet completed their mission to destroy hamas leadership and demilitarize the gaza strip. >> a moment of relief but far from over. thank you very much, trey yingst. >> kevin: learning more about the 13 hostages released, including names and ages, youngest release being just two years old and the eldest, 85. and jeff paul is live in tel aviv for us. jeff. >> it is a little bittersweet, you think about the 13 released, about you so many are being held against their will in gaza. this could lead to more people coming home, hopefully, according to officials here, hopefully all more than 230 people. we are learning a little bit more about the 13 specific israelis who were released today. we'll start with this list. we have 34-year-old doron katz asher, and raz, four years old, aviv, asher, two years old. daniel and amelia aloni, and ruth munder, and kerenmunder, and ohad munder, and ad adina moshe, 72, hannah katzir, and margalit moses, 77, and hanna perry, 79 years old. and a delicate matter. you have the ongoing ceasefire at 7:00 a.m., that has to hold, so far it has, and on top of that, the aid that is coming into gaza for the civilians there who are in desperate need of that. on top of that, you have this sort of careful handoff between hamas, a recognized terrorist organization, hamas and the red cross takes them through the rafah crossing and into egypt and israel, and supposed to happen every day. and you have israel who has to fulfill its promises by releasing palestinian prisoners. we know that they have released at least 30 palestinian prisoners today. has to happen not only once, but three more times. it's very tense over the next couple of days, kevin. >> kevin: i am only imagine. thank you. and we will check back in with you as news breaks. >> israeli hospitals are preparing to care for the 13 women and children once they arrive back in the country. alex hogan is live outside the schneider medical center where the children will be treated and alex, what's the scene there, what more can you tell us? >> hi, arthel. this is the main hospital we will see a lot of those children arrive, worth noting the remarkable news, three sets of mothers and their children will officially be back with their families tonight, including one father we have had him on fox before, he's been really across international media, a man who, his daughter, his two daughters and wife were taken the same day on october 7th, and an example of one person tonight who will be reunited likely at the hospital behind me. heart warming stories after so many weeks of grief but are hearing of course from officials and doctors about the long road ahead that will be for these victims. what they have been through in the last seven weeks and the long road to recovery to rehabilitate them and make sure the path forward is as small craft advisory as possible. but this is just day one. we will continue hopefully to see the release of more hostages. one note that is concerning tonight, israel has not received the list of names of hostages who could be released tomorrow. that, of course, is going to create a lot of concern for the families of the other hostages who have not yet heard from the government that their loved ones might be among the lucky few as part of the group of 50 who will be released. so once the children and mothers arrive at the hospital, there is a helicopter pad, ambulances are waiting on stand-by, it could happen at any point in the coming hours and then taken inside for immediate medical care. their own separate part of the wing to make sure it's as private and comfortable as possible in what has been an incredibly traumatic seven weeks and overwhelming day for all of them. arthel. >> a long road ahead, we wish the best for those mothers and children. alex hogan, thank you. kevin. >> kevin: the biden administration closely monitoring the hostage transfer. u.s. officials adding that the white house is "doing all we can" to free american hostages. lucas tomlinson has more from nantucket, massachusetts, where the president may be commenting on the first wave of released hostages. >> that's right, kevin. moments ago the white house saying president biden will address the country in the next 30 minutes, no doubt talking about the hostages released today. and good news 24 hostages were released, still 212 hostages that remain in captivity inside gaza under hamas. and of course, that includes up to ten american citizens. president biden we heard earlier this week sounding hopeful that up to three americans would be included in this initial group of 50 hostages that are scheduled, that are expected to be released over the next four days. today, no americans were released and certainly the country holds its breath and wants to see americans released as included in this, for the hostages to get out. now, that also includes, kevin, 3-year-old abigail adon. we heard her story, her parents were killed, she waited for 16 hours, had to watch her parents slaughtered, one can only imagine the horror. you look left and right on the couch, look at your family members, cousins, daughters, just horrific. and certainly her reintegration into the world will be quite traumatic, but right now we can report that president biden is scheduled to make an announcement to address the country at 1:45 eastern time here in nantucket. we heard yesterday when he visited a fire house his fingers were crossed hoping some americans were released, the white house is expecting american hostages to be included in the first group of 50 hostages. >> kevin: we will be watching carefully. thank you for your reporting. arthel, back to you. >> kevin, bring in adam boehler, helped negotiate the abram accords and negotiate with the taliban on behalf of the trump administration and former ceo of the u.s. international development finance corporation. so, adam, this is a recipe with a dash of hope and a heaping amount of distrust as this hostage release is currently unfolding. we heard trey yingst and alex hogan report they have not released another list yet. so, what's likely taking place behind the scenes right now? >> i think having the qataris actively negotiating back and for the. we spent a lot of time with them with the amir and the individual that was foreign minister and is now prime minister, they are probably shuttling back and forth quite a bit. they have a really difficult task because hamas is a terrorist organization and they are trying to use leverage, but it is what has brought us to where today where we have released hostages. so, they have had some diplomatic success. >> kevin: adam, i want to ask about the deal as we understand it, hamas is to release 50 women and children, including three americans in exchange israel is supposed to release about 150 palestinian women and children. i'm curious, does it behoof hamas to release all ten american citizens or is there a concern they may hold them back until they get more concessions? >> hamas is going to use everything they can to have leverage. this deal is all about leverage. the reason we are in this situation is because israel was strong in the first place. when you think about hamas holding back americans, they are holding them back so they have leverage over the united states, just like they are doing it in wave over leverage. the other thing i note about the hamas deal, it gives you a view into hamas and how they think, they stopped israelis from flying drones. why? that's because they want during this time, these four days, to regroup in the south. and so the reason they are doing all of this is for leverage. now, it's good we have hostages coming back, i agree with that, i'm happy about it. but that's why you don't see americans out there today. leverage over the united states. >> adam, i want to read a quote from the wall street journal editorial on the israel-hamas hostage deal, says "even as israelis rejoice for the women and children who will return home, they know hamas is rejoicing too. its war crimes have been rewarded." so i ask you, was there any other way out of this? >> i think -- look, and just to bolt on to what you said, as the prisoners are being released right now, who have people chanting hamas, hamas, hamas, and the right way out, so there's two things we need to not forget. we've got 200, more than 200 other hostages and israel's goal is to eradicate hamas. no other answer here. and so what i think we are going to recognize is in a few days they are going to need to resume hostilities and they are going to need to go down south. so, that's the right way to push and eventually eradicate hamas here. it's the only way. i do think the positive thing here is you do see the beginnings of who is going to negotiate an eventual solution and qatar and egypt, so diplomatic channels are open and so as days go past, weeks go past here, those are the players you are going to see, they are going to try to eventually end this, but i don't think it ends with hamas out of the gaza strip. >> kevin: healthy amount of skepticism over the next four days, adam? >> i think there is aligned interest here. i think if hamas pulls out they are going to get a lot of international community response. i think it's going to hurt israel the next four days. they are going to do it because we want the hostages back but i think you will see hamas play around psychologically quite a bit. i'm not surprised the list did not come over. they are going to wait, drag, there are bumps, it's psychological warfare and hamas will use every piece of leverage they can, they are a terrorist organization and they are good at rallying international support. and over these next few days, international media is going to push, the community is going to push for them to not resume and they can't not do that. that's what hamas is planning on and why they are doing this in the first place. >> boy, this is a long road ahead indeed, adam boehler, thank you very much for your analysis on this. a quick break. we'll continue with more on this breaking news story after a moment. hi, i'm stacey, and i've lost 60 pounds on golo. we are following each one of them anywhere in the world from the hamas. third question, if i may. how many -- how many were able to go back to the north of gaza, the citizens that they have? look, there are certain rules here and conditions. they were relayed in a proper fashion and we are -- we are protecting the achievements that we have made so far and we continue to do so. why was there a delay of getting the list of those returning tomorrow and second, did you get guarantees that israel can continue -- resume after the ceasefire, resume the fighting. look, the question -- preparing for tomorrow we are working on it. the best people working on this. i just returned from the headquarters and the intelligence people, excellent people are doing this 24/7, together with the nsa and the mossad. while they are doing so, are you have to be patient. they will update the families and update the public. and your question -- did you get a guarantee from the u.s. that after this stage idf can continue with full force the fight against the other side. we are preparing for the next stages. there is a stage of returning abductees, the goal has very clear stages and goals and we are prepared to tear apart hamas and to have secure borders and to bring back the abductees and also have this, all this takes time and it's complex. as far as the u.s., idf i can tell you, on behalf of this almost a daily contact, very close one, and understanding between u.s. and israel. we are looking -- there are things also in the area beyond israel. we are doing this as well. we are all coordinating with the u.s.. ultimately it's a war of israel and we get the instructions, direction from israel, and the u.s. understands that. one more question if i may. we saw political argument about the goals of the target, does one of the two goals precede the other one? how does it look six weeks after the war started? are there two goals the same level? i think what happened until now proves itself. we have a land work that resulted in, the results are a good result is a result of it. coordination of the air, land and sea, and the hamas lost control of the north part of hamas, north gaza strip, and we have taken it all, dismantled it, we killed terrorists, dismantled headquarters. almost all achievements we had to do in the north of the strip, even just before the ceasefire began we did what we need to do as far as dismantling most of the town so far. this will bring about -- this will also help bring about everything else. so these things combined together, we have to see to continue our moral obligation and ethical one of releasing the abductees and yet at the same time continue our war efforts. all our goals, everything will take time. thank you very much, have a good sabbath. >> kevin: listening to admiral hagari, the loss of about 390 israeli forces, also talked about the fact there was no new information about a possible second wave of released hostages. he says the israelis, along with their partners globally are watching to ensure the ceasefire is upheld but did make a distinction between the ceasefire upheld and what is the ultimate goal, and that is the full eradication of hamas. sir, what we just heard from the admiral. >> i think the focus of the admiral is very straightforward. they have made a decision that they can no longer tolerate hamas's existence in gaza, or in the west bank and the steps will be taken and it's not reversible. so, ultimately at the end of this time, something good for the palestinian people and the people of israel will have occurred, which is hamas, who won an election decades ago, more than a decade ago and then seized authority from the p.a. by force, killing some of their own countrymen, will come to an end. this terrorist organization will be on the run, probably around the world, and israel will have the ability to continue going after them while dealing with new leadership in gaza and hopefully in the west bank, ultimately the palestinian people have been poorly served by their elected officials and by these terrorists who have run gaza for more than a decade. >> arthel: congressman, before we get to that point, the fighting will continue as the admiral just spoke about. i wanted to ask you, how does that affect the attacks on our troops over there in the region? >> well, i think the fact that iran will continue to supply hezbollah, hamas, iraqis and others, the houthis, who in fact want to harm to the united states, it's been that way since 1979. eventually we, united states will have to deal with iran directly. that's a matter of reality. in the meantime, israel has two enemies at the borders, hezbollah on one side, hamas on the other, they are holding back hezbollah and eradicating hamas. the day will come hezbollah will have to be taken on. and as a grandson of a lebanese immigrant, lebanon has to be free of control from the terrorists and increasing numbers done so for years. is america involved, no, we are not, we are in a supportive role now but eventually are we going to have to take on iran as they continue to be anti-united states and by the way, anti-both arabs and jews in the region, absolutely. at the start of this i was in saudi arabia with the crown prince who has come to a detant with iran but only because the united states will not aggressively take on iran. bahrain, the rest of the gulf wants iran to be changed or eliminated but can't do it without the united states and we have been hesitant to do it all the way back to 1979 with rare occasions. >> kevin: let me ask you before we wrap up this segment, congressman, about the battle to win hearts and minds. you've heard that expression and people say the real battle is for public opinion. it would seem to be hamas is playing a fairly clever game here, they know by doling out this slow walk of releases they can maybe influence international opinion about whether or not the israelis should go back to full scale bombing and executed war on hamas. who is winning in that sphere? >> one could say for now that iran and allies are doing well. they have protestors in the streets, much funded from overseas individuals, some of whom have been named. but, let's look at the long picture. once hamas has been eradicated, once the palestinian people of gaza are given the opportunity to go the right direction rather than the support of terrorists, once the palestinian authority in the best bank is freed of hamas, it will be time to ask palestinians what do they want. they want a two-state solution, they want freedom, and they don't want to be part of terrorism, but ultimately they have been under the thumb of these terrorists for more than a decade, just as hezbollah has dominated lebanese society for a much longer period of time. you know, the united states has had policies of change. policies of elimination of hezbollah, policies of elimination of hamas, but the end of the day we have done little and now that they have made the unprovoked attack the world might be aghast but israel has no choice but to make this step and then sue for peace in a way that i hope qatar, the rest of the gulf and the egyptians will be supportive because there has to be an answer for nearly 7 million palestinians and it can't be the status quo they have lived under for so long. you know, you understand, it was 17 years ago that israel pulled all settlements out of gaza and yet on october 7th, hamas made an unprovoked attack claiming they were occupied when in fact they were not occupied, they were ruling gaza and preparing for this with iran support and preparing for more than a year, that massive attack and that massive amount of killing. >> kevin: very astute points made by darrell issa, congressman from california. appreciate your time today. >> arthel: back to trey yingst at the southern border in southern israel. trey, we just heard from the idf, admiral hagari, that the fighting will continue and expecting the next wave of hostages to be released tomorrow. what are you hearing? >> yeah, arthel, absolutely, and could be a delay getting more hostages out after the initial group of 13 israelis were able to make their way into israel today. it's also an indication that they understand they're dealing with an unconventional enemy here, and enemy will come to the table and not be negotiating under the exact terms laid out as part of this qatari agreement. it took months, when you look at the long-term negotiation from the qataris to get together. before the october 7th massacre, qatar was an intermediary between israel and hamas, and ferry messages back and forth. the massacre took place on october 7th and now they have come into this new role ferrying messages back and forth to get hostages released. so the group of 13 is headed to the air base in southern israel. and they will receive medical treatment here before going on to other hospitals where as he noted they are going to not just receive physical check-ups but mental health check-ups, see psychologists and individual interests assigned to them to ensure every need they have is met. this is an unprecedented moment for israel and they are throwing everything into this. we understand at least one of the hostages was taken immediately to a medical facility by a helicopter to ensure she could receive immediate medical attention. it just gives you a sense of how unpredictable it is. they did not know the condition of the hostages and made their way to the rafah border crossing and into israeli custody. they have now become just citizens then. they are no longer hostages and for so many families that's a relief. as rear admiral hagari noted, a mixed relief, more than 200 people in gaza held by hamas. and their future is quite frankly uncertain. arthel. >> kevin: dive in here before we let you go for this block. a sense of what the emotion is like -- i understand it's a friday night, may be muted. nationally speaking, you have a chance to have your ear on the ground, you talk with people, work with people for whom this is home. what does this mean tonight? >> they represent the collective trauma israel has faced over the past seven weeks. militants came into homes and slaughtered people, grabbed others and took them hostage into gaza. so you look at the names and faces and they represent something larger. they represent also a resilience for the israeli people. you look at 9-year-old ohad, the little boy with glasses and his mother and grandmother released as part of the deal, hostages for prisoners, and ohad represents something larger here, kevin. he represents a people who have faced truly hell on earth but are still getting by, still surviving and that's what's happening here in israel. you have this continued diplomatic effort to get as much hostages out as possible but still a country at war. we are not looking at a stalemate. not looking at an end to the fighting. we are looking at a pause in the fighting. this is expected to be a four-day ceasefire and since 7:00 a.m. this morning it is largely holding. once that is over, israel will dive back into the largest conflict it has faced in decades. and when we look at wars with gaza, after this weekend, after it reaches 51 days, it will be the longest war israel has ever faced with the gaza strip. kevin, arthel. >> kevin: incredible reporting throughout and obviously more discoveries along the way, trey, i notice you are reporting from the tunnel, incredible stuff. thank you for that. please be safe. over to you. >> arthel: president biden is expected to make remarks any moment. that and more on this breaking news story after a very quick break. the ergo smart base from tempur-pedic automatically responds to snoring. so, no more hiding under your pillow. because this system actually detects snoring then adjusts to help reduce it. for a limited time, save up to $500 on select tempur-pedic adjustable mattress sets. i told myself i was ok with my moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis symptoms. with my psoriatic arthritis symptoms. but just ok isn't ok. and i was done settling. if you still have symptoms after a tnf blocker like humira or enbrel, rinvoq is different and may help. rinvoq is a once-daily pill that can rapidly relieve joint pain, stiffness, and swelling in ra and psa. relieve fatigue for some... and stop joint damage. and in psa, can leave skin clear or almost clear. rinvoq can lower your ability to fight infections, including tb. serious infections and blood clots, some fatal; cancers, including lymphoma and skin; heart attack, stroke, and gi tears occurred. people 50 and older with a heart disease risk factor have an increased risk of death. serious allergic reactions can occur. tell your doctor if you are or may become pregnant. done settling? we are in the process of hopefully releasing more and transferring more hostages. how are they maintaining the safety if in fact you have these other factions that could particular something off? >> yeah, and one of the things, too, i know i was looking at some reporting earlier this morning, you know, hamas was very open in their negotiations specifically with the idf and isr, the drones that fly ahead. idf do have drones that are able to identify where hamas is, locations. we saw with the hospitals several weeks ago. one of the interesting things i heard, was that hamas said they do not want idf to be able to have that intelligence, i.e., where they are coming from, what locations, how many and all of that information is critical for the idf once the ceasefire goes away. and let's be honest, we need to look at in totality, what is the goal of idf, israel has made it rear, rescue hostages and eradicate hamas. what is hamas' goal? they have been trickling hostages out little by little and saw in an earlier segment an individual says it's a p.r. game, hamas is trying to build sympathy throughout the international community by releasing hostages in small bits. but as trey mentioned, we have 200 plus hostages, how long are they willing to hold on to them during the ceasefire and/or after the ceasefire. >> kevin: reminder, the president is expected to address the hostage release, the first wave, that could be happening at any moment. we will take you there as soon as we have those pictures. in the meantime, i want to ask you, derek, about this idea of who might benefit first or perhaps even most by breaking the ceasefire. there's always this skepticism whenever there is a ceasefire brokered. sometimes it says four days and then maybe day 3 or 2. one side will break it. who benefits, who is most likely to break it and why? >> yeah, i think it goes back, kevin, to what i was saying earlier. if i had to put money on the table, who is more likely to break it, it would be absolutely hamas. now, the question is, how are they going to frame it. whether or not hamas will frame it as the idf shot at us first, they maneuvered in a certain position they were not supposed to, that's why i do think making sure that the negotiations, what actually the ceasefire entails is important. whether or not it means that the idf have to stand in one place, whether they are not allowed to move, same thing with hamas. is hamas allowed to maneuver in this ceasefire. are they allowed to build their positions, allowed to operate within the tunnel systems. these are all important questions because hamas is ultimately at some point or another, if there were to be a break in a ceasefire, it goes back to perception and try to use the p.r. game to their benefit. >> kevin: always an excellent guess. derek anderson has trained with the idf. talk to you soon. >> arthel: thank you, bringing in now major doran spielman, you just heard the talk of p.r. ploy on the part of hamas. if this is in fact what they are doing, and they are nefarious, who knows what they are up to exactly, but if this is the case, wouldn't it behoove them to make sure no more hostages get hurt in this exchange? >> i think we have to put ourselves a little bit in the mind of hamas which is difficult to do because that same mind is the same mind that attacked citizens and mutilated people. everything that hamas does is going to be for their own benefit, right. it's not for anybody else's benefit. the reason that they are releasing our hostages and i will pause and just say that the entire state of israel right now has enormous mixed emotions, on one hand, we are so full of joy to see our hostages come home, and the other side we know there is a dark cloud of hamas holding over 200 hostages. the reason that they are making this move is because militarily speaking we are operating on the ground. and the best way to deal with their shenanigans and deception, continue in the military campaign. when they are pushed to the wall, when they have no choice, they release hostages and that's the goal from the beginning and the goal moving forward. this is a pause for us. this is not the end. >> arthel: so that said, sir, if they try to extends this pause, again by parsing out the release of these hostages, how do you handle that? as you know, the longer you have not as much surveillance as you had over gaza, the more that they are preparing to hurt more of your forces. >> the framework that we have today is going on for the next few days with this continued release. we hope as you mentioned that they do not break the ceasefire. as you mentioned, nefarious, they have done it in the past, been on fox news with other conflicts with hamas where they have broken this. we hope this holds. i will mention this, militarily speaking, we are prepared for a lot of different scenarios. we have many ways to gather information. we have many ways to prepare ourselves. this pause militarily speaking for us is a time to regroup, to refresh, and refocus operational goals. any decision that we make, and we are very aware of their kind of isis distorted strategy, anything we are prepared for and not put us or our hostages at a disadvantage. it's going to put us at an advantage, as we can see with our people coming home right now. >> arthel: and you have other players in the area who may want to again restart this, throw in some, you know, cogs in the wheel, if you will. hamas, ok, we are going to milk this, play along with the truce and regroup for you are prepared for anything they may counter with, but what about the other bad players in the area who might want to again restart this fight? >> that's a very good question. as you know, we have been on a multi-front war for weeks, right. i mean, we had missiles that arrived earlier today towards a lot, you know, we had rockets fired from yemen, hezbollah in the north, we had thousands that have tried to carry out terror attacks. your question is very much correct. a constant arc of evil, a dedication to death that is only dedicated to death governed by iran, we are aware of that. any moment in time we know if there's an opening, an opportunity for iran or another one of these evil players to strike against israel they will do so. and that's why we deployed so many hundreds of thousands of soldiers. we are up and ready for any scenario that's presented to us and the same i am -- time, allowing the pause to bring them home. waiting for them for weeks. let nobody think the guard down. idf guard is up and up to stay. >> kevin: can i ask a question, major, i think i've heard others ask, we are not looking at a one for 1, 50 hostages held in hamas or held by hamas, and exchange for 50 palestinians who are in custody. can you help explain for the people at home who don't understand, why it's one for 50 or 1 for ten. >> israel on our behalf i can tell you that we have been waiting for these people, we care about our citizens as a quote that says that one person's life is worth an entire world. we are so dedicated to bringing our people home and kind of our position from the very beginning, so we are paying a high price and another reference in the price, have to understand, people released on the palestinian side, and hamas side, they are convicted criminals and terrorists. we are getting home innocent hostages, 2-year-olds, 4-year-olds, this little girl amelia on the screen with her father, the only reason we are doing it is because of our hostages and the only reason really that we are at war right now and that we understand hamas has to be destroyed is because if we don't, another type situation like this is just around the corner. and that is why we are willing to pay this price. it seems bizarre but we love life and we love our people and that's why we are willing to do it. >> arthel: and of course, major spielman, you do whatever you can to get your beloved citizens home. apologize for asking this question but i have to, some are saying hamas has won because of the uneven exchange. >> i think we are looking long-term. we have had 16,000 targets. we have killed numerous hamas terrorists. they have been cleared out of their major command center, which is the northern gaza. we have forces on the ground. we have taken over their key operation centers. we have revealed their terror acts. they are on the run, and i think the proof that hamas is not winning is they are willing to allow our hostages to come home, which is their most important bargaining chip. any way we want to look at this. yes, we are paying a price to bring our people
