yeah, roll up your window. when we landed she says i don't do this full time. i'm working the post office. she said the plane came in a box. >> steve: look what steve has? ♪ happy birthday, mr. president. today joe biden turns 81. they have a low key celebration in nantucket. the president got to pardon the "tucker carlson tonight" and go that way. the best president for the oldest president would be a strategy for addressing voters' concerns that he just too darn old. because, right now, all they have got is the white house says well, you know, joe has achieved a lot. he is a world leader. and he is not donald trump. but the polls show people are not persuaded. >> brian: right. that is true. >> we know major polls major polls not looking good for joe biden. what about the newest poll? you have the nbc poll. >> this poll shows the hypothetical between the presidents, here 44% for joe biden. 46% for trump. but if you go deeper into the polls, i want to take you back to 2020 joe biden was at 51%. donald trump was still at 46%. not just that. in the past election in 2016, donald trump still remains at 46%. but hillary clinton was at 48%. you get the trend in these national polls they really don't move that much unless you are a dem. it's really going to be the swing states. and it's also going to be the key demographics. i will take you here. this is a big demographic for the president right here. he won in the past election. by 20 points. and now these young voters right now only at 42% approval rating. donald trump is still at that 46% mark. the issues that matter to them it's the new thing that i call money and wars right here. they give the president grace when it comes to the economy. but they don't give him grace when it comes to him promising the student loans that they were going to go away. they were going to be able to buy a house with that money. he went through the channels when he knew that the supreme court was going to strike it down. they are holding him accountable for that they just don't like his stance on foreign policy right now. and they are in line with 62% of the country. the next demographic is going to be the independents. now, biden won 52% of the independent vote. they are striking out right now. it's the economy, it is crime, they still want to run on abortion. we will see how it's going to work for them. right now you got only 30% approval among independents, guys. >> steve: thank you very much, lawrence. great laying it all out. we know the number one concern that people on both parties have is the president is too old. and that is the one thing he can't do anything about. you know, and the real problem is with joe biden, you look at joe biden in 2020, and you look at him now, there are visible signs of aging. you know, botox can only do so much. the problem is he doesn't just seem older. he seems elderly. where it's frail and unstable. i know he got his last physical last february where he got a clean bill of health. but, you know, the president, if his family is honest with him, this weekend, in nantucket, if they are really concerned, he should ask his family am i too old? and if they're honest they would probably say you know what, pops, you got a lot accomplished maybe it is time to retire. >> ainsley: there is an article that talks about bubble wrap strategy. his administration is deploying bubble wrap strategy stop him from falling in public like he did at the air force academy commencement in june. i'm wondering, if last week he was saying to gavin newsom and san francisco, i think you could do my job. i wonder if maybe they will discuss that in nantucket and just say, look, do you really want to do this? this is your chance to get out. go on top like seinfeld. >> ainsley: so much scrutiny. biden holds advantage white voters with are education. trump over with -- >> brian: losing to trump, halely and desantis. david axelrod continues to say and be honest. he came out and said. this i think he has a 50/50 shot. but no better than that maybe a little worse. he thinks he can cheat nature. here it is a little risky. they have a real problem if they are going to count on trump to win for them. i remember hillary tried that, too. i will add something else to that maureen dowd over the weekend go to bat for david axelrod. before you use explicative to talk about david axelrod and you and your performance, remember, he was the one who helped put you on the ticket if not the deciding vote. also, remember, when there was talk of hillary clinton coming in and running with barack obama who was sucking wind in the polls, they said no, it would be incredible act of disloyalty and he has done a really good job. now, you might look at david axelrod and say wait a second. maybe is he just being honest and maybe he really has no ax to grind. there is no great candidate that david axelrod seems to want to run instead of joe biden. and steve, what you were saying about gavin newsom, gavin news loses to trump. gam has a huge problem with his track record. >> he has that big debate next week desantis. >> he is not-david axelrod is not putting out the name of anybody did you s. but maybe he has somebody in mind aside from michelle obama. >> that's true. >> everybody thinks if michelle obama wanted to get into politics and do it. she has no political experience other than being the first lady. but then again neither did donald trump until he became president. she would win. >> ainsley: does she want to be in the white house and have that responsibility and stress. in 2021 trump endorsed greg abbott. the governor of texas for his third run for governor. third term. when he was running against beto o'rourke. now the governor is returning the favor he endorsed trump. he said on x i'm proud to endorse him and trump joined him in edinburgh, texas yesterday for democrat addition of serving the tamales to texas dps troopers and texas national guardsmen deployed along the southern border. first you will hear from the governor and then president trump. >> i'm here today to officially proclaim my endorsement for donald j. trump to be president of the united states of america again. >> this is a tremendous honor to get that endorsement, in particular. because he really stepped up. he stepped up to the plate. he is doing the job of what the federal government is supposed to be doing i'm just telling you, mr. governor. i am going to make your job much easier. you will be able to focus on other things in texas. we love texas and what they have done is very unfair. they have given the job to you. it's a job of security for our country. it's a job of stopping an invasion. because it's an invasion. and you have done great job and thank you very much for the endorsement, greg. i appreciate it very much. thank you. >> brian: what is interesting 6l public, according to a fox news poll is very concerned about border security. you know, for a while it was like don't bring up the border. trump is so tough on the border. a lot of people think hispanics are going to run from you if you do that. a niche thing. intolerance for immigrants. country totally flipped on that. i was watching another network try to skew trump's appearance at the border. trump wants to get tough on immigration he is talking about rounding up people. going into camps might be a little extreme rounding up illegals did you see what cardi b. says all our money in new york city is going to illegal immigrants that want to be here and you shouldn't cut the cops. then we watched that city council meeting in chicago where they came in chanting forget sanctuary city. okay, 2016 might have been a little controversial. 2024, not so much. >> steve: brian, were you watching the other channel on your private jet? because the before the united states, democrat, won't meet with his democrat mayor when he was in town. doesn't take his calls. now they are investigating him over something or with some turkey affiliation. he has got to start lawyering up. how does this end? it's almost like everybody else is bystanders as his party tears each other up. >> right. this looks like a disaster, brian. when you see someone like cardi b. a hard left person starting to defend the idea that the republican idea of protecting our borders, supporting the police. it's not going to end well for the democrats as you are seeing in all the polling. people want to be safe. that's the most important thing we can do. remember something about sanctuary city policies. i want to mention. this there are all kinds of private colleges dotted all over upstate new york. many of them are sanctuary campuses. have you seen all this anti-semitic activity there. money flowing into these colleges. we have a problem going not just from the campuses, also new york city. but where are we going to go -- where are we going to go. >> brian: what do you mean by sanctuary campuses a student from another country and here illegally you are allowed to stay? >> absolutely. anyone -- they have a lot of refugees which they are legal here. but, you know, they're often they are illegal immigrants coming across the border that are meeting up with their family members already here or many of them being human trafficked which is even worse. so, i don't think it ends well for the democrats. and i don't know what -- i do wonder. i'm suspicious like you are, brian, what is going to happen to mayor adams and is this sort of a way to react to him and bring him down? >> you bet. new overnight, defense secretary lloyd austin making unannounced visit to kyiv earlier this morning meeting with the u.s. ambassador to ukraine. the defense department saying, quote: he will also underscore the continued u.s. commitment to providing ukraine with the security assistance it needs to defend itself from russian aggression. this is austin's second time visiting the country since the war in ukraine started. and developing in iceland, officials warn that a volcanic eruption could happen within the next few days. icelandic officials say while earthquake activity has slowed down over the last day. it could mean that imagine that has reached the earth's crust. fear the earth's eruption is when not if as locals are wait and suspend for the next few days. this story not going anywhere for the next couple days. guys, over to you. >> ainsley: thanks, carley. turning now to the war in israel the idf says it's taken out three hamas company commanders in overnight strikes, airstrikes as it at this points to strength its grip on gaza city. >> lawrence: so israeli troops finding hamas tunnel under the shifa hospital as well. >> steve: that changes everything. that's what idf has said for a while. trey yix is live on the ground in southern israel. trey, you know, a picture says a thousand words and the image of that military tunnel under the hospital says it all. >> yeah. hey, guys. good morning. i do want to start with some good news for once amid this horrific story about al shifa hospital. over the weekend we learned that 31 premature incumbenciy evacuated from the city to a hospital in southern gaza. today those babies, some of them crossed into egypt where they will receive more medical care. this was done in coordination with the united nations and the palestinian red crescent and is just one piece of good news. as we continue to follow the developments on the ground, israeli forces pushing deeper into gaza city this weekend. and yesterday they did release some new information about shifa hospital and hamas activities there. we now know at least two foreign hostages were taken to the hospital on the morning of october 7th, according to cct video. those men and workers flanked by hamas gunmen. we are not showing the video out of respect for the families. the revelation raising new questions about what international organizations knew about the operations within the hospital. also overnight, the israeli military along with the shin bet security agency released new video of the tunnel system they say is beneath the facility. the initial tunnel shack estimated to be 30 feet deep and with a staircase and connects with 160-foot tunnel that wendy's blast door. israelis do expect to find more as they keep digging in this area. as the idf pushes deeper and into gaza there are new regional concerns about iran and proxies climbing into unstable situation. on sunday, iran-backed houthi rebels hijacked a cargo ship in the red sea. the british owned ship called the galaxy leader had citizens on board when traveling from turkey to india and intercepted a lot of developments over the weekend. we do know the northern front remains active between israel and hezbollah. over the weekend, dozens of rockets fired into northern israel. we understand alarms sounding once again this morning. guys, bark to you. >> lawrence: you know, trey, quick question. i was flipping the channels on the other networks. and talking about the shifa hospital. after the report, the reporter said there is still no evidence that there is terrorist activity hang in the shifa hospital. so as someone that's been on the ground and looked at the evidence, are you seeing evidence of terrorist activity inside of the shifa hospital? >> yes. last week, less than 24 hours after the israelis raided the hospital, we joined them in the middle of the night to see the evidence they had to present. and they showed us weapons in an mri room and also a number of maps and booklets they say are linked to hamas. we have no way to independently verify when and where they found those weapons but they say they were inside the room when they entered. and they have now uncovered this tunnel shaft, which is a major indication and something the israelis are touting as a victory on the information war. because over the past -- i can just see a black hawk helicopter flying toward gaza. these helicopters are often used to evacuate casualties. but in terms of this hospital, the tunnel system is something the israelis have said for weeks existed underneath the hospital. and they are touting this as an information victory supporting the claims that they put forward that hamas was using the hospital not just as an area to treat palestinian patients but also as an area to launch military activities from. >> steve: picture says a thousand words. trey, thank you very much. >> brian: it's out there. when you grab a hostage fresh off and bringing them through the hospital and is he wrestling. the other one was injured. the first one he was wrestling, why are you bringing them to a hospital? we know age effects people differently. donald trump is only 3 years younger he seems to be moving. it's affected joe biden much differently. can he escape these worries? again, to your point not all # 81-year-olds are created equal. some more spry than i am. the hard truth is what is affecting president biden is not necessarily his age but his policies. the policies have been disaster, the policies on the southern border that has lid to a fentanyl crisis and migrant crisis coming to every town u.s.a. the policies abroad where his weakness has created a vacuum where we now have war in gaza and ukraine and a threat in the south china sea and, of course, the economy was not working for anyone. so, those are the issues that have seen the largest decline in poll numbers. the age is almost, in many ways, a subsidiary of these larger problems. >> lawrence: you know so interesting because manchin makes a similar point. this is the senator from west virginia. this is what he had to say about the president. watch. >> joe biden has been pulled so far to the left the extreme left as far as liberal makes no sense at all. it's not the person we thought was going to bring the country together we are in a heck of a mess. we have got to bring people together and they have got to demand more, more responsibility for uniting our country. we are the united states not the divided. >> lawrence: why is that? he campaigned on being the unifier and was going to bring people together he hasn't been able to get that bipartisan legislation. >> when you are getting attacked on the right and the left that's a good place to be. that's where we actually want our president. yes, the polls might be showing that people are frustrated but wix, the policies are actually working if you look at the economic data. the presentation of them are not. and that's what democrats have to do. these polls that are out, it's a blessing to democrats because it's a warning sign. it's time to repackage the message to the american voter and when they actually have a choice they are going to choose president biden. >> lawrence: joe, bidenomics working? you agree? >> 29 year high for auto defaults the highest since even before the recession. we have basically $5.5 trillion in savings that was obliterated by this bidenomics. so ask the average person on main street, republican, democratic, independent, this economy is not working for them. >> if you ask economists you see we have record low unemployment. we see inflation is actually cooling. and when we look at the global economy economy recovered faster than any industrialized nation on the planet. >> lawrence: why are 70% of democrats saying heading down the wrong directions. >> yeah, it's a tough time. it's a tough time to be president and tough time to lead. president biden has actually rolled up his sleeve and gotten stuff done. you are going to make an omelet break a few eggs. to have no complaints would be something that wouldn't happen. >> the eggs you are referring to are the hopes and dreams of the american people. he was supposed to be the return-to-normal president. it's not an easy job. no one forced him to raise his objection general narayan hand to do it. at the end of the day, what we are focused on is can you build the middle out economy. >> joe and david spirited
