[background sounds] [gunfire] rachel: the idf says fighter jets have struck many hamas targets as the israeli government continues to reject calls for a ceasefire. pete: meanwhile, we're seeing conflicting reports over potential hostage release. "the washington post" first reported the u.s. brokered a deal between israel and hamas to pause the violation last night. the violence. but the national security council says a deal has not yet been reached. alex ho-ho began is on the ground in northern israel with the latest. hey, alex. >> reporter: hi. in the last few weeks, we've seen a lott of potential hostage negotiation deals come and go, and now "the washington post" is saying this deal could potentially have some headway, this would be to release nearly 50 hostages in exchange for palestinians currently in israeli deals as well as a 3-5 day ceasefire. officials in qatar are now saying those negotiations are continuing, but we're hearing from u.s. initials that no deal has -- officials that no deal has officially been released, and prime minister netanyahu reiterated last night as of now, there's still no deal. >> translator: we're making the maximum effort even if it's going to be in stages. all the hamas heads, they're all dead men walking. >> reporter: tens of thousands of people, families of the hostages and their supporters, gathered outside the military headquarters in tel aviv. they'd also spent about five days marching, calling for the release of these hostages, especially the children. of it's been six weaks since they were abducted -- six weeks. the idf is expanding route operations in gaza, they destroyed infrastructure and weapons warehouses in the last -- in this video right here, and ground forces are still searching through the shifa hospital where the u.n. said nearly 3300 patients have -- 300 patients have been unable to evacuate, the idf just now saying it has managed to rescue and evacuate some of those babies that were left behind. the i e df argues it never forced these evacuations, but as far as the civilians that continue to move if south, israel warns it will also increase its military operations there. large groups of palestinians are burying their loved ones. with lack of food, fuel and clean drinking water, the u.n. warns the health hazards only continue to grow. u.s. president jeff biden weighed in on all -- joe biden weighed in on all of this calling for, quote, a two-state solution, two peoples living side by side with equal measures of freedom, opportunity and dignity is where the road to peace must lead. our goal should be to end the war forever, break the cycle of unceasing violence and build something stronger in gaza and across the middle east so that history itself does not keep repeating itself. and back here in northern israel, you can likely hear the sound of artillery behind me. even though we've seen a lot of rain, there's clouds that is actually acting as a cover for some of these piece of artillery, there's also an alert of a foreign drone earlier today. sirens went off here in the northern. usually we can see some of those interceptions. we did hear the iron dome going off, but we were not able to see that interception take place. will, rachel,? rachel: alex, first of all, great reporting. my question is about the hostages and and specifically about the protesters. i guess there was 20,000, as you said, outside netanyahu's home or offices. in any case, what is the political situation for net an ya high? -- netanyahu? are the protesters upset because they think the fighting is conflicting with the rescue? what is happening there, and how is he dealing with this politically? >> reporter: well, there's a lot of pressure if on the government, and that's been system of the main issues that we've been hearing from the families of the hostages. they not only feel like the government didn't do enough on october 7th and before to protect the civilians and defend the border, but also in the last six week weeks that the government has not done enough to bring those hostages home. israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu spoke to that yesterday saying he stands in support with those families and that emotionally and spiritually, he was there walking with them during that march yesterday. but still, of course, a lot of pressure from these families who say at this point we need answers. and if there's going to be a hostage negotiation, at least the children and the women, especially the mothers with those kids, should be released together. that's what those families are hoping for. will: alex hogan, thank you so much. rachel: thank you, alex. pete: yeah. i saw those conflicting reports yesterday about a deal being brokered orbit. you also have to establish how many hostages are still alive, i mean, i hate to -- rachel: six weeks, it's a great question with. pete: you just don't know what that situation is, but israel has to believe it's in a place where it can contain the hamas fighters it that has that a pause doesn't allow the enemy to squeeze out, you know what i mean? they're going to use those five days to refit. that's what hamas is going to do to try to get ready to fight even more, but hamas makes that trade-off, it's worth the 70 people we get out, and that's what they're trying to figure out. and they're dealing with a tar who the defense -- qatar who has said the hamas leaders in qatar are dead men walking too. rachel: these poor families. again, children, mothers, toddlers, babies, it's just mind-boggling. will: an interesting debate would be whether or not what i'm about to share with you is simply pun punditry and analysis or the beginning of a movement against joe biden. david axlerod has now basically given his second opinion on on future of joe biden. he told "the new york times" on saturday, i think he has a 50-50 # shot here, but no better than that. maybe a little worse. he thinks he can cheat nature here, and it's really risky. they've got a real problem if they're counting on trump to win it for them. i remember hillary doing that too. you remember about a week or two ago a he said he thought that joe biden would have trouble being the nominee for president for the democratic party. and i think that act el-- axelrod. i don't know that he has taken on a role as a media pundit or he's still there as a part of the decisions behind the scene scenes that will impact the pressure on joe biden to step aside. rachel: if david axlerod is saying it, it's obama. that's the obama mouth piece. absolutely, this is orders from the top. you know, the fire alarms are going off. we've got to do something. ax a elrod is signaling to the media and all the allies, it's time to move on, and i think that's what's happening. pete: yeah, he's definitely a svengali. if he's not speaking directly for obama, he's of the sentiment of that world. because at the -- as "the wall street journal" points out, biden is turning 81 years old tomorrow. 81. which means he'd be 82 on or near election day. the headline is 811 is years old, running for re-election in his condition is an act of profound selfishness. here's a part of what they argue, concerns about his age were muttered -- rachel: softly. pete: thank you, rachel. but now they're front and center in his re-election bid. next week mr. biden will be 81. already he is struggling on camera and limiting his public schedule, his aides fear he might trip again on tv. and and why is he asking the public to keep him in the oval office until 2029 when he'll be 86 years old? why would voters think he can handle four more years of a grueling job which might include being shakennen awake in the wee hours to respond to a chinese invasion of taiwan. when you put that 2029 number on there, that really brings it home. rachel: sure does. and, of course, people say if he gets a second term, assuming he can -- because i think act elros not looking good, then he's not going to make it through that second term, and we'll have, we assume, kamala harris. this soto slow they thing, a lot of people weren't speaking so softly about it. not only is it selfish e of joe biden to run when he knew he wasn't capable, we saw it on the campaign trail in the last election, i think, keeping him in the basement where he couldn't make mistakes. he's been, you know, easter bunnies, you know, shuffling him around and out of the press' way. the other selfish person is clearly his wife and his family who are profiting off of this position of power that he has. will: it clearly is resonating with the end dependent voter. and -- independent voter. and i think more importantly are, the casual voter. the casual voter is not always plugged into politics. i've begun to see more celebrities, i e saw a clip of comedian kevin hart talking about joe biden saying i've got something very important that i want everyone to listen to. it's very important for the entire world. and he takes a beat and goes, nah, forget it. joe biden just losing his place. a comedic illustration of where he is and it resonates, again, with the casual. look at this poll on how people feel whether he has the mental and physical health, 59% say it's a major concern. you add in moderate concern, really look at the bottom number, no real concern, that's 14%. that's about, you know, 86% of america thinks this is a concern. pete: yeah. "saturday night live" also chiming in in a very direct way recently that they haven't in the past. it's just so self-evident. here's the other, the flipside of it though, guys, just getting so late in the guam. so statements in "the new york times" are one thing. actual movements to set the course of events of a sitting president the decide not to run for re, that's a whole other thing. with. will: but prepare for the unprecedented. you and i have gone off the wall and whether or not it's something that goes down at a convention, you mentioned it at the patriot awards, the next year is going to be insane in every possible way. rachel: yeah. will: from the economy to the war, to a presidential election. pete: on the republican side? yeah. wlwell to the democrat side. rachel: you've not to buckle up, and i think there's going to have to be something very -- to do it this late in the game and, pete, you're right, it is very late, it's going to have to be something big. and that's why i still stand by my prediction that michelle obama will be that -- i'm going to use the trump card, no pun intended. [laughter] pete: we will roll the tape when that happens, for sure. you guys, another topic that concerns our country, you remember during covid when a lot of members of the military were kicked out for not take taking a experimental vaccine that was made mandatory across the defense department. now our recruiting levels are in the tank. the army and other services can't get guys to join or get guys and gals to reenlist. so before we get to this, here's what the army said in february of 2022. so here's how the army described the need for the vaccine in the army in 2022. they said army readiness depends on soldiers who are prepared to train, deploy, fight and win our foreign wars. unvaccinated soldiers -- we will begin proceedings for soldiers when refuse the order and are not pending a final order on a decision. a year and a half ago, it was absolutely fundamental that these guys had to be kicked out. will: just a reminder how we are so susceptible to collective insanity. pete: no doubt. will we dismissed soldiers because of covid. rachel: and we had a general on this show say that that was actually, you know, if something went wrong with the vaccine, that was actually really dangerous for the troops, to have everybody on this experimental vaccine. pete: but there was no discussion. rachel: of course, you couldn't. pete: here's the letter that's landing in the mailboxes of vets that were kicked out. this is from a brigadier general, army director of personnel management. dear former service member, we write to notify you of new army guidance regarding the correction of military records and former members of the army following rescission of the covid-19 vaccine requirement. as a result of the rescission of all current covid-19 vaccine requirements, former soldiers who weren involuntarily separated for their refuse refusal to receive the vaccination may request a correction of their military records. roy ray so, just kidding. we're at to go to war, maybe, come on back. [laughter] we need you. all you independent-thinking, probably conservatives who didn't want to take that, come on back, because we need you. we're going to go to war. that just makes me so mad. will: seriously. we're going to talk about this later in the show. we're going to talk about the major league baseball all-star the game returning to atlanta. nothing's changed in the laws, but guess it's okay now to have an all-tar game. we indulge in insanity, pretend its doesn't, it doesn't happen, with two years later try to return to normal. rachel: are those soldiers are they going to return? you know people who were discharged because they didn't want to talk -- pete: a lot of them. rachel: are they beginning to go, oh, yeah, because i didn't see an apology in this letter at all. pete: i've been interviewing a lot of guys on this subject too because i've got a book coming out -- not under this administration. if you had a new commander in chief after this upcoming election and these requirements were loosened, you might have a decent amount of guys saying, hey, yeah, or i'll get back in, this was my life's work, and i have a commander in chief who would use us properly. but not right now. they're not going to see a big flood. you might have some guys saying you can correct my records so it says i wasn't dishonorably discharged orally discharged, but not getting back into -- rachel: but this is not the main reason that was holding back. i personally know people who didn't go into the seals because they didn't want to be forced to take the vaccine. i do know people like that. but there are greater issues that are holding back the kind of typical fighting men that would join. pete: absolutely right. will turning now to your headlines, a fox news alert. a manhunt is now over after memphis police found the suspect who's been connected to three separate deadly shootings this morning. police believe the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. officers say he killed three women as well as a 13-year-old girl during a spree of domestic violence. they have not yet identified any victims. happening today, sources say texas governor greg abbott will endorse former president donald trump for the gop's presidential nominee in 2024. the two will meet in edens burg, texas, just half a mile away from the southern border, to serve a pre-thanksgiving meal to texas national guard and troopers. heir going to eat -- rachel: that mallless. will: traditionally for texas, but i'll accept it for christmas. do you like 'em, pete? pete: i'm not sure -- does it look a little bit like a burrito? will: a tiny one. rachel: let's do that for one of our cooking segments. will: the texas governor successfully won re-election. and in football, justin diehl returns from injury. you can catch that game on fox plus a full slate of must-see match-ups including america's game of the week, my dallas cowboys take on the carolina panthers. kickoff is set for 1 p.m -- pete: i thought the game of a the week was the 4:00 game. will will i did too, to be honest. i think i'm reading between the lines and picking up what we're putting down. it kind of goes being america's team -- rachel: when do the cowboys play the commanders? will: we play them twice a year -- rachel: i heard that dolly parton's going to be singing the national anthem. that intrigued me. i might watch. pete: the cowboys always play. will: we had, i think it was after the patriot awards we had a party, and i was with our boss and walked in, and they were playing jolene by dolly parton. that song is amazing. pete: agreed. >> good morning. the majority of our migrants come from cuba -- rachel: i'm sorry, can you say that again? >> oh, i'm sorry, a majority of our migrants that come here come if cuba. rachel: right. and i was speaking with representative carlos gimenez, and he had mentioned that there was something about illegal migrants that were caught off the coast that were chinese, possibly also coming from cuba. do you know anything else about that? >> yeah, that was interesting. we had a load of migrants come in to the north end e of our county. and they hit the shoreline and start running throughout the neighborhoods and people's homes. it was kind of wee hours of the morning, we were contacted by border patrol asking for help, so i had to send a lot of staff, and we worked for a long period of time trying to find these vims, and we found 20 plus were from china. it was unusual to see the mixture of some from that far away. we see people from ecuador, haiti, quite a few different countries but again, predominantly cuba is the one we see the most. rachel: this is really scary. i understand, you know, we're used to having economic migrants come, but you don't leave china without the chinese government knowing that you're leaving. what are they here for? this is absolutely a national security situation as well as a law enforcement situation. and an immigration situation. you know, your governor was criticized by joe biden, he was told that, you know, calling the national guard to deal with illegal immigration in the state of florida was a stunt. and at the same time, the coast guard's calling or e-mailing him saying we need some help from you, and we need to work on this, so what's the story? >> sure. i was on the pta from 2020-2022, and i started seeing things then with the escalation back in may of 2021, i started seeing educators hosting teach-ins, and i was just keeping a very close eye on things. and i was seeing the language of our cec very much mimic what was being taught. that was incredibly concerning and just outright false. pete: and is this across -- is this in elementary school too? >> yeah. this was in the elementary school. pete: this is in an elementary school. >> and it didn't make its way directly into my school at the time, but this is concerning elementary all the way with up through 12th, but definitely it is starting in elementary. pete: and so if you had a jewish kid in the school or someone who supports israel in the school, at this point it's probably an impossible situation just to get ap an education. >> it's, i think, scary for families. id again it depends on how the schools are handling it, but knowing what happened with the walkout the other week, it is terrifying for families. pete: is this, you know, writ large in new york city, is this because of one particular part of brooklyn, or is this kind of a new york city school system -- >> so is i, i'm really only familiar with our district and our cec, and i was under the impression that this is how it operated throughout the district. and in speaking with more families, it does seem fairly isolated that this intensity is in our district. i'm, i can't speak to the other districts, but they all seem to operate a bit differently. but our district specifically seemed to filter this throughout the city. pete: why is the pro-palestinian cause which now has to make, has to be okay with an association with hamas at this point, why is it so strong inside schools? >> i, i think there's just a very big overall un-americanism going on, and i do think that that is definitely tied to being pro-israel. the values of israel and america very much align, and once we start seeing those values disintegrate and that ease coming in through dei, through the anti-racism, through fdl, it's being taught through just a very hyper-race-focused lens, through oppressor versus oppressed, being on stolen land and land back and those narratives and those conversations make their way into the anti-israel -- pete: sel being social-emotional learning. all of hose things open the portal for something like this -- >> absolutely. pete: and you say it's steeped in anti-americanism. and what are you doing with your kids now? >> they are in a private jewish school in the city. pete: good for you. that's what parents have to do -- >> it wasn't in our plans, but we're happy. pete: thank you for having, you know, your eye on what the school is doing, doing something about it, and they're going to kick outout of virtual meetings, what are you going to do? [laughter] rachel: thanksgiving dinner is going up, so these are some of the prices for thanksgiving dinner. in 2021 the average price was about $46.90. here in 2023 we're up to $61.17. but these increases aren't getting to our farmers. why is that? >> well, there's a lot of steps between the farmerrer, the producer of the food, and the dining room table. the farmer in 2021 only got about 8.1 cents of the consumer 's dollar on -- the consumer's dollar on what they spend at the grocery store. so not a whole lot of it gets back to the farm. there's an awful lot of steps in between the grower and the consumer. pete: is there anything you can do as the farmer? can you raise your prices, or do those just end up getting passed along? business wise, is it sustainable for you? >> well, it depends. we're unique in that regard. we're not so unique anymore. we're a niche, but we're ott not as unique. we do direct marketing from the farm to the table. finish. rachel: right. >> so we grow turkeys on our farm in connecticut out on pasture. we process them right here on our farm, and we market them right from our small farm store on our farm. so the consumer is buying directly from the farmer in our case. rachel: are there things that the government is doing to make that a harder for you? is there something you wish the government would stop doing or do for you to make that farm to table connection better? >> well, there's a lot of regulations. a few years ago we were not allowed to sell our product directory to consumer because of some regulations on the processing end. and so in the state of connecticut. and so we went and lobbied with our legislature and with the department of health and other organizations, and we actually successfully, my son and i, got some laws changed in connecticut that allowed us to market our product directly to the consumer. rachel: excellent. >> so, yeah, the government regulations can get in the way. will: outof -- out of curiosity, are you sold out for thanksgiving? >> we are pretty well sold out. we do have some small turkeys left, but we're pretty much sold out. will: down to the results. rachel: you'll is to buy two. >> you'll have to get two if you need a big -- pete: i have no experience with turkeys, but i have a lot of wild ones on my property. with will you do? pete: a lot of them. how difficult is it for a layperson to prepare their own turkey? will: oh, boy. rachel: don't encourage this. [laughter] >> well, a wild turkey, the last time i ate a wild turkey, it was nowhere near as a tender and delicious as one of the ones we raise. ours are raised on pasture, so they're getting a similar diet but, boy, they're a lot more tender and juicy. those wild ones do so much flying that they're a little bit tougher than the ones we raise. will: all right, rick, we appreciate you. good luck on thanksgiving. >> thank you very much. happy thanksgiving. will: i didn't know you had wild turkeys. rachel: videotape it. will: i want to come -- rachel, can you give with me a minute here? rachel: i'm dying to see this thing -- will: i want to come hunt turkeys at your place. i'm sorry, america, i've cleaned turkey before, they're nasty birds. you don't want anything to do with that question you just asked him. we're going to find a guy -- pete: find a guy -- rachel: you just said it's tough. will: if you hunt, you eat. pete: by the way, you have to get approval from my wife. she doesn't want anything shot -- will: well, you said there's a lot of them. pete: there are a lot. will: the company that owns chatgpt is reportedly looking the hire their ceo back after firing him abruptly. the latest tech shake-up, next. ♪ if. will: turmoil at openai as a new report says investors are trying the get sam altman back after his sudden firing just on friday. the company who owns chatgpt said mr. altman's departure follows a deliberative review process,-inned -- joining us now is tech policy center director at heritage foundation and foreman dod counterterrorism analyst kara frederick. good morning to you. i think, you know, unless you're plugged into the tech world, sam altman is an unknown figure who just now kind of understanding chatgpt and its parent company, openai, but sam altman is a big deal. tell us why. >> oh, yeah. number one, sill econ valley has been in turmoil for the weekend because anti, artificial intelligence, is a transformation aal technology that system people liken to electricity. it is going to impact every facet of our existence going forward. and sam altman was at the head of i would say the most popular and successful start-up in the world in the last few months, and this is the openai. they created chatgpt which is what we call a large language model. everyone, i think, by now has heard of it. students are using it in universities, people are using it at their law firms. people say it's going to replace lots of white collar jobs, so this is something that it's gonna change the world, and openai was the leading force when it came to this technology. so when he was ousted in a surprise move on friday, silicon valley, it's like a soap opera. it's high drama there, and now he potentially could be in talks to back. this is only going to get more intense. will: but why was he dismissed then, kara? what happened on friday? >> there's lots of murkiness surrounding this move. i think it's very important for americans to know how we got here, and openai was created in 2015 as a nonprofit. it was supposed to be the counterweight to these commercial entities like google that were developing artificial general intelligence or agi which is supposed to be smarter, a.i. smarter than humans. so it wanted to be that counterweight, this nonprofit, this open version of it that benefits, quote, all humanity. now that board, that nonprofit board governs the commercial arm that was created four years later, and that board has a say over what the commercial arm does, and people say there is tension between the commercial aspect, the for-profit aspect and the nonprofit aspect, but we don't know for certain. will: now on, i mean, immediate reaction -- and we're talking about, what, 36 hours, 24 hours and a push to bring him back. >> yes. and this is, it's really, really interesting because other reports are that there's tension between the research arm and the product arm. sam has a great reputation. if you were paying attention to all of this drama, you'll see that most people sided with sam. they didn't really understand why the nonprofit board that governs the commercial arm did what it did. so look at the investors too. i'm keeping my eyes on microsoft. they came out in support of sam and, frankly, their investments over the past few years, this is a multibillion dollar investment. some reports have it upwards of $13 billion, billion with a b, investment in openai over the years. so there are reports that microsoft is actually pushing for sam to come back. we don't know if that's true, but keep your eye on the investors. they, thus far, have had little say in this, and that is a problem for a lot of people. will: real quick, if a.i., as you described it well is like electricity, sam altman a may be the most powerful guy in the direction of our future. not just as a country, but as a humanity. is that fair?
