>> well, without impeaching him, we're just turning the cheek the other way. joe biden is ignoring the problem. mayorkas is ignoring the problem. everyone is ignoring the problem. i wish we could impeach mayorkas. that's what we should have done. we weren't able to do it monday night. >> neil: let me ask you about what happened this week. there was a move on the part of the speaker to corral enough democratic votes to approve a measure that will hopefully avoid a government shutdown. you opposed that. why? >> the continuing resolutions that we've done year over year doesn't fix the spending problem. we're $33 trillion in debt. that terrible debt ceiling deal that was earlier this year will add $50 trillion of debt in the next decade. we cannot continue washington spending as usual. a clean cr the way it was done is not something that i've ever supported before. i'm not going support it now. we need to be more responsible, cut spending. we have to do it together. republicans and democrats alike for decades now are the ones that put us in this very tenuous, very risky situation with our economy and spending and inflation. >> neil: you know, some people interpreted that you're set to turn on mike johnson, the speaker. they say the same way you did on kevin mccarthy. what do you say? >> this situation is not mike johnson's problem. this was created by former leadership that are no longer in leadership today. >> neil: he did the exact same thing, congresswoman. he appealed to democrats to get it to the finish line. >> did he have any other choice, neil? i don't think he did. >> neil: did kevin mccarthy have any other choice? >> kevin mccarthy had all the choices in the world. he promised to cut spending, promised the appropriations bills to avoid a continuing resolution, this is all kevin mccarthy's problem created by him for this country. mike johnson is playing the hand that he was dealt. i believe that next year he will do a much better job than the former speaker. >> neil: what is it, congress woman between you and kevin mccarthy? right now he says you deserve to lose your re-election bid. he doesn't like the way you behave. your colleagues are increasingly saying they don't know whether to trust you or know where you're coming from. the washington most says maga warrior, nancy mace tries to be both. what is going on? >> well, i certainly haven't given any of my colleagues or the country a reason not to trust me. i certainly would never elbow someone in the kidneys and run away like a school boy in kindergarten. >> neil: you're talking about the charge that kevin mccarthy did a kidney punch? go ahead. >> yeah. tim is one of the nicest humans in congress. why anybody would do that, witnessed by a reporter from npr that wrote about it on social media. i can't believe that kind of thing would be tolerated today. i wish more of my colleagues spoke out in defense of tim burchette. it was wrong. we shouldn't use physical retaliation against anyone. given no reason for anyone not to trust me. i always promised to work hard and promised to work with anyone on either side of the aisle. if they're willing to work with me, i'll work with them. i hold no grudges. we have to move forward and work hard for our kids and their future. >> neil: i understand that. maybe given your rising fame, you've gotten a lot of people's attention. a lot of your colleagues don't know what to make of you. there was a time that you liked kevin mccarthy and then you didn't. you liked and supported steve scalise and then you didn't. right now you're with mike johnson. that's great. but they don't trust you. there's a "washington post" story that says you're a narcissist. how do you feel about that? >> first of all, i want to thank tim scott for jumping in the arena. he's a remarkable man. a man of faith. he believes in the opportunity and optimism of this country. he worked hard. and i'm grateful he stepped up to the plate and in to the arena. i'm excited to see that we have one south carolinian left. you laid it out well, neil. right now my focus is on my constituents and south carolina. i have not weighed in on supporting anyone yet in 24. >> neil: would you be leery of supporting nikki haley if it looks like here shot to get the nomination that it would tick off donald trump? he is no big fan of nikki haley. he's had some choice adjectives to describe her. what do you think of that? >> i've been on the receiving end of choice words from the former president myself. i'm waiting and watching. what i want to be on point about today is that no matter who the nominee is, we have to rally behind them next year. we cannot continue what biden has done to this country, whether we're talking about the southern border or national security or the insecured of other countries around the world. these wars that are happening. we have a lot of decisions to make in the future and republican leadership can do better than what the left has done to destroy this country. >> neil: you were critical of the former president. so was and is nikki haley. she said if she's the nominee she will support him. she's had been doubts about whether he's up to the job. his time has come and gone. what is it about donald trump that ultimately everyone falls in line in the party and accepts him, if he's the guy, we support him. end of story, no debate. >> i can't speak for him. what i will say, i've been proud of nikki haley and other candidates working hard to provide different options for president. it will be up to republican primary voters to decide who they want to have as their nominee next year. >> neil: i'm sorry. that is not what i asked. that in the end, they rip him a new one as has you in the past. you move on. that's politics. but she turned around quickly and said i'd support him if he were the nominee. what do you think? some of that is blatant to say we're pro hamas. what do you think of that? >> yeah, that's shocking. i understand people are concerned, upset that innocent civilians in gaza are being hurt as a result of the israelis understandable campaign to eliminate hamas, which brutally killed 1,400 israeli citizens on october 7th and still holding over 200. but the reason civilians are being killed in gaza is because of hamas. if people want to support the palestinian cause and protest, that's their right. but a lot of them as i have interviewed, as i have seen, are prepared to say that they're for hamas. they're killers. if hamas triumphs here, everybody in the world will be unsafe. the other thing i've noticed, i think there's some radicals, anarchyists that have infiltrated them. i see them burning american flags as well as israeli flags. they're going beyond just being sympathetic to the palestinians. they're really anti-american. that fire enemies of ours. we have to take it seriously. some demonstrations are blatantly anti-semitic. you can't remain silent in response to that. >> neil: you know, senator joe manchin said he would consider a presidential run as an independent candidate, maybe a no labels candidate. what do you think of that?
