Coming up in just moments governor ron desantis, nikki haley, vivek ramaswamy, mike pence senator tim scott will join us right here on set. By the way someone you might not expect to see at a Republican Debate, California Governor Gavin Newsom will join us. I have to ask him, i came to the state first thing i see is 7 a gallon for gasoline. We have a question, too, though to ask him but they do have In And Out Burger. At first sparks were flying at tonights debate as all seven candidates easily demonstrated the ability to run circles around joe biden, we can start with that point. Anybody on that stage do a better job than joe biden and Kamala Harris, i think donald trump is a little bit of a winner tonight because when his name was invoked he kept saying he should be here to defend his record and debate and face the people. Why would you want him there when hes going to eat into your time and i think eat into some of their sound bites. I thought it was a little flat today. I thought everybody had a good moment, but moments, sean, will not overtake a front runner leading by 40 points. Moments wont tell the American People what you would do differently. Sean it has to be a big moment. Were in the Reagan Library so we can say this remember there were a lot of questions about reagan going into the second debate with mondale and he turns to him and goes i will not allow my opponents youth and inexperience become in this campaign. Even mondale laughed. There was nothing like that. Everyone did enough to make it to the next debate in miami which is the goal. What are you doing between the debates, you have to get out there and mix it up with the people. I thought the moderators were very well prepared. You get extra credit if you actually answer questions, they came to play but had something to get out. They took to china which was great, taking On Bidenomics and inflation, young people cant afford a house, people in debt, 40 year high Interest Rates and inflation, people are suffering every day. I think there was enough Connective Tissue from these candidates tonight that they can make a case. I know a little bit more about your struggles than maybe joe biden, but i dont i think the polls arent going to move much. Sean yeah. Larry. Yeah, there were a lot of little moments, no big moments. Its hard to get a big moment. Remember reagan said to carter, there he goes again. Sean there he goes again. Oh, god, for 40 years people have been using that line. So its hard to get a big moment, i agree with kellyanne. I wanted somebody to say, as per reagan, like i worked for reagan a long time ago, i come into the Reagan Library, we played all these Reagan Clips On My Show tonight, i wanted someone to say, as per reagan, that government is the problem not the solution. Sean yeah. Actually played that clip of reagan when he said it, nine words, i believe, in the english language. Yeah, im here from the government and im here to help you. Sean here to help you. Thats right. I also wanted someone to say that we need to get four or 5 Economic Growth not 1 so we should be slashing taxes across the board, we should be lowering marginal tax rates the way John Fkennedy Ronald Reagan and donald trump did. I want someone to say that tough stuff to get the economy moving. There are a lot of good points on the economy. They acted more like republicans this week than they did the last debate. Did they make the sale on the economy . Im not entirely sure. But they punched away at it to some extent. I still dont Think Bidenomics was buried today on that stage. I just dont think so. I dont think they were direct hits and i was disappointed. Sean would you both agree with me . I felt there were a couple of people, and im not going to sit here and be insulting and name nays that just didnt have much Business Being on that stage, we all know they dont have a chance and for them this is their moment. Maybe the criteria needs to be a little tighter going into any future debate . Well, theres going to come a time sean and larry where you have to justify being on the debate stage if youre mired in Single Digits. If you truly want to get rid of joe biden and Kamala Harris, they talk about yawn at this time, they say the democrats have unity, every single democrat was the same way, inflation reduction act, not for the jobs act, amy coney barrett, they all voted for hakeem jeffries, every one of them. We can have unity to defeat joe biden. Its early in the process but if youre mired in the Single Digits in the early states and nationwide, you have to ask yourself how much can isaac fuse on behalf of the team to get rid of joe biden . Well see what gavin newsom has to say, hell probably bring a message tonight thats a little bit better than maga maga maga Republican Demurable Irredeemable but if youre a democrat tonight you have to be very worried that joe biden and Kamala Harris are not even being asked what they have to say about it. Sean right, let me ask you this. Sean can i ask a question. Sean this is a Exit Question we have the governor coming on on in a minute. Heres my Exit Question did any one distinguish themselves as a clear person with donald trump having such a dominate lead in the polls as the one person that could give him any run for his money . I dont think there was a breakout breakout if thats what youre asking, no. I dont think so. Sean kellyanne. No, not enough to overcome him in the polls. Enough to survive. So i think their best argument, War Of Attrition slow and steady wins the race. But, no, nobody there made the case as to what they would do differently or better than he did. They want to build a wall, they want to secure the border, they sounded a lot like him. And, look, i give them credit for taking on the big issues, but i dont think that there was enough clarity. And, sean, i said to larry earlier in the day, i want to come out tonight feeling like i didnt feel in the first debate which each person has a two or three point prescriptive plan to fix this issue or that issue. Forget what we want to hear. This is what the American People want to hear and the Debate Moderators were asking questions on behalf of We The People that werent being answered with We The People. Tim scott i have to give him a lot of credit because he did this riff on blacks, african americans, somehow surviving through slavery and then went on to say that the Great Society of lbj and all the democratic president s since then have made the black situation worse, not better. Breaking up the black family. Sean that was a powerful moment. I thought so. Sean he faced discrimination but americas not a racist country. I have to give him credit for that whether he wins loses or draws that was something to behold. Sean hes an inspiring speaker. You have to be brave to say that kind of thing and the data shows that senator tim scott is absolutely right. The worst thing to happen to Minority Groups and africanamericans in particular in this country in the last hundred years was the Great Society. Sean number one i miss you but you look great, doing a fantastic job. But let me tell you, do have tailing into your previous conversation with kellyanne and larry. I think after watching this tonight the debate i want to see before your debate that youre going to host between, of course, desantis and newsom, is desantis and nikki haley. Because for me, at least, tonight those two emerged as the strongest advocates for their brand of conservatism. Nikki haley is a lot closer to the gop establishment, donor base, on issues regarding ukraine and, you know, the Immigration System is broken, all that kind of lingo. And then you have desantis, whos much more in the pupulous strain of donald trump, and probably the person, if trump ends up being the nominee, the likely person to pick up the torch after trump. So a debate between those two, maybe without a moderator, unless its you, i think would be fascinating for the American People. Sean youre saying you want to have Governor Desantis debate nikki haley on your show. I got it. A little bit. But, no, us what im saying. You see what im saying about this . Sean no, i understand. Thats it. Thats the struggle inside the party, the populous part of the party is much bigger, 84 of the party versus, what, 26 of the party or 16 of the party depending on what polls you look at. So i think that would be interesting. But i agree, i dont think anyone had like a socko moment i know viveks coming up hes a very bright guy but he seemed like he was on the defense they were coming on him. Burgum seems like nice guy but intoes move on down the road. Chris christie and pence, god bless them i love both of them but. Sean thats not a platform people want to hear. No, desantis and nicky hailey is the debate we want to see if Donald Trumps not going to be on the stage at least. Sean im going to ask the governor right now, considering you pushed that. I think its going to be incredible. But tonight there was a lot of bickering on the stage and my thing is look, we owe it to the American People to give our version about how were going to verse this countrys decline. I think i was able to do that. I think some of the cross talk, if i was at home watching that, i would turn the channel when i saw that. So i think we were able to rise above that and deliver our message. Sean in my view there were a couple people on that stage in my view that probably shouldnt have been there. Right. Sean at that point it lends itself more to a conversation. It is interesting, i think this debate with you and the governor is going to be very interesting, so im looking forward to moderating that, and i think with 90 minutes, just plenty of breathing room, that will lend itself to more conversation. And you know what . Maybe we can say, since the former president couldnt come here maybe he would be willing to do one with you and i. I think he owes it to our voters to come and make the case. Sean so this is going to be hannity one on one debate central. Lets do it. Sean ill ask him. Heres the thing you owe it to the voters to come and make the case. No ones entitled to anything. You can say some poll months before. No, you have to make the case and you owe it to the voter. Im going to show up everywhere, and i think there were some important issues that were discussed tonight, theres also others that i know you and i have talked about that werent discussed, but at the end of the day i think the thing that was clear for this, theres a lot of talk, a lot of people had good things to say, im the guy thats done it. In florida i did everything i promised, we delivered and were sick of the talk with republicans. They always promise all that. What are the two biggest issues right now . The debt and the border. You and i have been talking about this for as long as weve known each other. Isnt it time we get a person to come in and bring it to a conclusion and a landing. And i think if we can do that with the nomination and election were going to get this done. Sean nobody brought up the point regarding the border and i thought you had a strong position regarding what you would do to close the border and, you know, no nonsense, get this thing closed. Its now become to me, more than anything else, a National Security issue. Yes. Sean we are catching people that are on the terror watch list. Were not vetting anybody. We have no idea what their background is. People are coming from china, russia, iran. All of our enemy countries, theyre coming across the border. I hope im wrong but if i had to bet my life savings i will bet that there will be a Terrorist Attack that happens in the future of this country thats going to be. Sean i pray were wrong. Heres the thing, these guys in dc they dont care. Theres no urgency, some of our guys in the house care but the elites in dc they dont care, biden doesnt care. Hes missing in action on this as the carnage mounts. I agree. I think that this is above all a National Security issue. Now, theres also nuts and bolts issues. I mean, the amount of illegals that are pouring in, medical care is being taxed, schools, its overwhelming communities far away from the border. You see it in new york city. Sean in new york city, theyre paying on average 40,000 per illegal immigrant. And theyre kicking out the veterans to make room for illegals. Sean the veterans never had the four star hotels. Theyre building all these facilities, they expect to spend 12 billion in the next 18 months and, you know, theyre claiming this came from governor abbott. They cant tell us how many illegals are coming across the border or how many tanks we nest afghanistan. They cant tell where you the money in ukraine went. Generally speaking, i guess the theme of the night, as i watched and listened to you tonight was, okay, these are the tough stances i took in florida. So we can have great Slogan Earring we can have great debates but if were not going to get this done then none of it matters. One of the things im thinking about lately preparing here i looked at reagans farewell address, in 2023 in january what would i say to the American People after serving two terms and thats really the vision of, youre going to be able to get ahead again in this country were going to have an economy that works for people, our sovereignty restored and borders enforced. Were going to make sure we have education not indoctrination. We will be the worlds leading super power and we will fend off the threat from china successfully. Were not going to have crime overrunning every city in america anymore and were going to restore the constitution so we have a limited government that words beside us on our behalf not one that works over us. If we can do that we can restore the shining City On The Hill reagan talks about and turn over america to our kids and grandkids better than we found it. Sean governor thank you for coming by. Sean you just told me your favorite part of the debate was after the debate when your son came on stage. It was the last five minutes when he came on, i saw him sitting quietly in the front row, hes three years old and thats about as well behaved as ive seen him in a long time. Im proud of him. Sean hes at the Reagan Library i wouldnt expect anything less. One of the more contentious moments was nikki haley saying every time i hear you i feel dumber. Feeling dumber thats the first time ive heard that ill take that as a first. But my view tonight there were a lot of personal insults coming my way, thats okay. These are still good people. I respect the Policy Disagreements that we had but im not running against any of them. Im running for this country. And i think part of what you saw is, i am the new guy and i do have to earn the trust of the voters at home. Sean i want you to slow down with that. And i respect that. Sean that moment struck me. You were sending a message, maybe i come off as a little know it ought at times. I understand that. Sean im a Talk Show Host, every Talk Show Host youll ever meet comes off as a know it all so i identify. But what is it that you really want to tell people that dont know you and see you and see youre outspoken what do you want to communicate. Having ron convictions and being humble about your scope of knowledge those arent incompatible they go together. The way i built my businesses is i surround myself with people who challenge me the best and brightish to push me to be the best version of myself. When im Commander In Chief i expect there will be several people on the stage who i would be relying on on that stage. Sean you sure you want chris christie. I didnt say all of them. But even people off that stage. But requiring taking America First movement to the next level but im going to do things differently, im going to reunite this party and this country. And i do think it is a going to take somebody of a new generation. Somebody whose best days are still yet ahead in life to see a country whose best days are still yet ahead, too. I truly believe that. Im not one of these its morning in america people, its not morning in america right now but it can be and its going to take a new generation. Sean i would say america has been in a precipitous decline. It has been but it doesnt have to stay that way. I bass governor of the state of indiana we brought ten thousand jobs back to our state in manufacturing, i know something about manufacturing. And i have to tell you while the union bosses are talking about Class Warfare and disparity in wages, i have to tell you, i really believe whats driving that is bidenomics has failed. Wages are not keeping up with inflation. Auto workers and all American Workers are feeling it and families are struggling in this economy. We have a president with a very pathetically weak Foreign Policy. These are scary times. This is a country in decline as far as i see. Ronald reagan came to power when there was a failed democratic administration. Prices through the roof and america failed on the world stage and he stood forward and said we can actually make America Great again. Sean he said those words. He said those words and couple decades later another man came down the escalator and made the very same promise and donald trump and i governed as conservatives on the very same record of a Strong America at home and strong leadership in the world, limited federal government pro growth the right to life traditional values. But what i try to insert in that lively debate tonight was that i think republicans are facing a time for choosing. That we have to say, whether or not were going to stay on the path of that has defined our Movement Since the days of Ronald Reagan and through the trump pens years, or whether were going to follow the siren song of populism on more of the conservative principals. That means walking away from American Leadership and the world. Frankly the former president s actually advocating, sean, a 10 tariff on all imported goods into the United States. The Tax Foundation said that would cost 500,000 jobs. So higher taxeses, walking away from leadership and the world and, of course, marginalizing the right to life as many on that stage of sought to do. People need to know im the most consistent tested the conservative president and if im president were going to bring america back on that solid foundation. But the Dobbs Decision didnt just return to question of abortion to the states and that was a real difference on that stage tonight. I dont think we got quite enough opportunity to break it down. But the truth is that, whether its the former president or ron desantis or nikki haley, they believe that this should just be relegated to the states. Im pro life, i dont apologize foyer. I believe that the Dobbs Decision returned the question of abortion to the states and the American People, American People elect president s and congresses, i think its time to come for a Minimal National Standard. Im going to support sprong pro life measures in every state of the country to go as far as we can to protect the unborn but i dont want to leave kids, unborn children in California Illinois and new york the devices of liberal governors who promote late term abortion.
