Authorities say the inmate attacked the guard and the guard was jumped by other detainees. Nobody was able to break free from this jail by 115 inmates did take part in the chaos breaking out Windows Setting fires and throwing things on the fourth floor of the building. This is what people could see from outside the jail. This facility is located in downtown st. Louis near other businesses like the city hall in a stadium where the cardinals play in several new stations. As for the Correctional Officer who was attacked, he went to the hospital for some injuries. He was pretty banged up but he has since been released so some good news there. Eric and arthel. Eric meanwhile in terms of the number of inmates, you said 115 or so do you know how many were able to break windows and set fires and when they were able to get this under control and if any will face any charges . You know they were able to get this under control around 10 00 this morning. There were about 633 inmates at the jail at the time of this attack. Everything just escalated and one of the Big Questions that City Officials have or the people have is how were these inmates able to move around within the jail like that and break out the windows and cause chaos . City Officials Say this was an issue that they have been dealing with, and issue but the locks in the jail something the city has been working on for a couple of months now getting those locks replaced. Im told the complex process of the inmates were able to get out of their individual cells but not their entire unit. They were still confined to a secured area. Again there were 633 inmates in the downtown st. Louis jail when this attack happened. The chaos was contained on the fourth floor of this building. The situation wasnt fully under control about until 10 00 a. M. This morning. 65 inmates were transferred to another jail in the remaining inmates that participated in the mayhem were moved to different areas within the jail. This was a facility where people are facing felonies, and serious charges while they wait for charged. Fortunately no other officers were injured in all of this. Eric.
