Former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta has received the Macky Sall Peace Award for her role in mediating for peace through dialogue.
The Defense Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma received the award on her behalf in a ceremony held in Dakar, Senegal on Friday, December 11.
Speaking during the event, Juma said President Uhuru Kenyatta’s mother played a pivotal role in maintaining peace in the 2017 General Election.

“Mama Ngina Kenyatta played a momentous role of preaching peace and reconciliation at a point in time when Kenya’s 2017 General Election foreshadowed a foul ending. Her choice was dialogue. And it worked,” said Juma.
