Former Columbus Police officer Adam Coy was released on reduced bond February 9, 2021
Former Columbus police officer Adam Coy left jail this afternoon after a judge agreed to lower his bond from $3 million to $1 million.
Coy, who is white, was indicted in the December 22nd shooting death of Andre Hill, an unarmed Black man who was shot while standing in the garage of an aquaintance near Upper Arlington. Coy faces charges of murder, felonious assault and two counts of dereliction of duty.
An atttorney for the Hill family says his clients are not happy with the reduction in bond, but accepted the decision. Judge Stephen McIntosh also agreed to allow Coy contact with a support team of officers with similar experiences, although he is barred from contact with any officers associated with the case.
