"The dad sent her poison to kill me."
This was the note written by the Congo national Henri Lusaka who is accused of killing his wife Jennifer Downes in 2019 at their rented home at Service Street in Suva.
The note was found by a team of police officers in the course of their investigation in the couple’s kitchen two years ago.
Other evidence that was presented in court by the Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Elizabeth Rice was a cooking pot and Downe’s wallet.
Lusaka in a video played in court on Tuesday said he was sad when he found messages from Downe’s father planning an escape plan for her.
